Hello and Welcome to another video from Thomas at BOAB models. Today we'll be building the world's first car - the Benz Patent Motorwagen from 1886 in 1/24 scale from ICM of Ukraine. The car was designed by German engineer Karl Benz and made famous when it was driven by his wife Bertha Benz and their two sons, Richard and Eugen on the world's first long distance drive
Additional footage filmed at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

Wow that is a very detailed and complex kit, but you achieved a great result (no surprise there). Thanks for sharing as always, very cool model to have in your collection.

Very interesting kit for sure Thomas, you did a great job! As a product designer I can imagine how much time and effort went in this one to 3D model and get it ready for injection moulding. And the moulds must be full of technical things to get these small frafile parts done nicely :) Keep it up, it's nice to see you partnering up with British Motor Museum to replicate their treasures in scale!

Thank you, my friend. You're absolutely right - computers obviously help so much now with the design and manufacturing process. It really makes me wonder what it was like before all that!

Wow that’s a great little build and extremely fiddly, well done, take care and model on

Thanks very much! To be honest, I was a little nervous before starting as this kit is like nothing I've ever made.

@@BOABModels with everything on show and being fiddly you did very well in getting a clean model out of it, if you ever do the upgrade version it would be interesting to hear your thoughts as a comparison, model on

Thank you! I will definitely have a look at it in the future. I have another classic car from ICM in the stash though, the Ford Model T

I think a rubber band would have worked as well for the belt but with that said this is amazing work

Rubber band is a good call - thanks for watching!

Nicely done! I built the version with the PE parts, and while I loved the kit I'm not sure the metal parts were a good trade off for the extra fiddlyness. I have since bought the version you have here so I can compare them.

Thanks a lot! I didn't choose one or the other as it was a gift but I'm pretty pleased it was this one - as you say, the PE does look fiddly.
