I was like 11 years old when this came out, and let me tell you, Ninja Rap was EVERYTHING back then, it was a total win for that age group. It was the right song, in the right movie, at the right time period, it worked.
The actress who played April in the original was not brought back because she was horrible to work with. She was constantly complaining about the working conditions. Elias Koteas (KC Jones) was supposedly doing another movie at the time but returned in the 3rd movie in two roles. I don't remember much about the 3rd movie but I don't remember it being silly. Definitely watch the animated 2007 TMNT it's kinda a sequel to these movies and it's pretty decent Also casey jones wasnt in this one cause the first movie had a lot of issues in europe because of too much violence, its also why the turtles pretty much dont use their weapons in thiis one and since casey is pretty much a guy that hits people with every day objects they cut him
Judith Hoag, who played April O' neal in the original film, was actually really pissed off that the crew had editted the script so much. Originally, both Krang and the Technodrome, were supposed to be In the first film. But they simplified it for convenience and realism. So dhe didn't come back for 2 or 3. It's okay though. She totally kicks ass as Marnie's mom in the Disney "Halloween Town" series. ALAO, 3 was okay. It's not as good as one and two. But I appreciate what they were trying to do. 3 Involves Time Travel. If you ever watched the old 90's cartoon, or played the games, you know. They were starting to put their foot in the door for dimensional travel & alternate worlds. I always say, "3 wasn't that good. But 4? 4 WOULD'VE FUCKING ROCKED !!!" I hope you do go and watch 3 on your own time. It's still cool. It was just the akward phase before what would've come next. That's all.
3:37 - Keno is played by Ernie Reyes Jr., son of Ernie Reyes Sr. (natch), one of the best fight choreographers of the 80s and 90s. Jr. was one of the stunt fighters in the first film, then he got the role of Keno in this one. He went on to star in his own movie, Surf Ninjas, with his dad and a young Rob Schnider, and later appeared in The Rundown with The Rock. 5:06 - It's an easy thing to miss, but the hints are their that those are actually THEIR pizzas. 7:25 - In the movie it's TGRI, in the comics it's TCRI: Techno- _Cosmic_ -Research Industries. It was a front for extra-dimensional aliens trying to find their way home (the 'utroms' were the inspiration for Krang in other continuities). 7:53 - 'Oprah's On!' was actually an advertising campaign for the Oprah Winfrey show in the late 80s' early 90s.
Original April actress thought the first movie was too violent so she didn't want to return. There was a lot of crap in the media saying the original movie was "too violent" so they toned it down for this movie, and even further in the third movie which is an abomination! Despite the budgets being bigger than the original movie, the turtles look increasingly worse with each movie. (and yes, everyone was expecting Bebop and Rocksteady, but they wanted new characters so they could make more toys 🙄) Bit of trivia for you: Kevin Nash/Diesel (WCW/WWF wrestler) played "Super Shredder" in this movie.
Ah yes, the silliness, the over the top comedy, the awesomeness of Ernie Reyes, Jr. And of course, Vanilla Ice. Gah, this was crazy when it came out. My parents didn't think the first one was too violent for myself or my siblings. And we watched this also for Ernie Reyes, Jr, and I still had fun. It was the third one where it kinda lost us.
The actor who plays Kino, Ernie Reyes Jr, was the stuntman for Donatello in the first and second movie! He was also the lead on another 90s action comedy classic, Surf Ninjas…..a movie you guys need to check out!
Maybe you can check out the movie Surf Ninjas. It has both Ernie Reyes Senior and Junior. It's not really a great movie but it is fun and has a special place in my childhood.
The thing about the 3rd film is they changed puppets and actors for the Turtles. This film is SO DAMN quotable. Also gotta love David Warner playing Dr Perry
@7:37 For those who didn't know... That is Dillinger/Sark from Tron; the late David Warner, also Morpheus, from Fallout, and jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate 2.
The kid in the beginning is Ernie Reyes Jr. Back in the early 80s he started a range of Taekowndo studios. But I remember when he was with West Coast Taekwondo when I took it as a kid. It was fun to watch him get movie roles and such. He really was incredibly athletic - though I wouldn't ever say he was a good actor :) The first movie was fun - this felt like more of a cash grab. Especially the Vanilla Ice cameo... god that was horrible all around.
It was a Cash grab, seeing how the 1st movie worked so well. Thats why this one is goofier cause "its for the kids". But its not a bad movie overall, it still as some of the strenghts of the 1st one: combat and the costumes. Even tho if the 1st one had Grunge/Punk Teenager humour, this one is more like a 6th grade school recess kinda humour. The 3rd movie is just..., let us forget it ever existed...
This was my fav TMNT Film as a Kid, loved Toka and Razor plus the Super-Shredder was Dope! Upon re-watches as an adult i probably like TMNT 1 the most now.
Oh, noice~! This hits me right in the childhood, and I couldn't be happier. While there's those that take issue with it for its lighter tone when compared to the first movie, and the Turtles using their weapons less (no thanks to parents' groups), I'm glad I still found this movie to be enjoyable despite some of its flaws. Not seeing Casey Jones was also bummer, but Keno was a GREAT addition to the cast. Anywho, looking forward to the next one. Until then, ya'll take care and have a good one! P.S. Also, when you can, I still do HIGHLY recommend "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)", "Broken Arrow (1996)", "Assassins (1995)", and "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985)" for ya'll to react to. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. 😉👍
They wanted to tone down the violence which is why the weapons were not used as much by the turtles and the third they go back in time to early Japan kid you not
Parents in the studios said that the movie was too violent, so they went very light for the second ones and they didn’t like Casey Jones even though everybody loved him
Fuck yes. I'm so happy you guys did this one. Most reactors just do the first one. I'll admit it's a better film, but as a kid I thoroughly enjoyed this movie more. Can't wait to see y'all's reaction.
The reason tokka is vicious when shredder mentions the vicious animals they could find is because he’s not a common snapping turtle but he’s a alligator snapping turtle so that maybe why he has spikes on his shell
Vanilla Ice made a banger track for this movie. Ninja Rap is such a banger, that the professor started dancing in the crowd. And I love the fight against The Foot after the Turtles unmutated Tokka and Rahzar, and that does include the 4-on-1 shell assault on Tatsu.
Fun Fact: The same guy that plays Freddy is the guy who asks Keno if he's Night security. I wish you'd do the 3rd one. It's really good, don't let a few downers make you miss it. One other thing, the guy who does the voice for Donatello played Shredder in the Cartoon.
The guy playing Keno was a child actor known for his martial arts ability. He was in one of the Conan movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the classic movie The Last Dragon, which I suggest you guys check out.
Actor playing Keno led a film called Surf Ninjas, in '93. Could be worth a watch if y'all haven't seen it. And I may be in the minority, but I still appreciate the third Turtles film even though it's not as good as the first two.
It was tone down because of parents complaining about the violence, and also the actress who originally played April in the original didn't like the violence, which is why she didn't come back for the second one. Which is honestly a real let how great the original was.
The main issue with this movie is that it retcons Shredder's death from the first movie. There's no way he survived a trash compactor let alone falling like 10 stories.
I always thought it was weird that in the first movie, shredders defeated by being dropped off a building. Then in the second movie, shredder’s defeated by having a building dropped on him.
Kevin Nash said in and interview that he made more money playing super shredder for a day, than performing on the road w/WWF back in his glory days. Sadly the studio recast Corey Feldman due to substance abuse issues. I believe the original April chose not to reprise her role, why I'm not sure. Casey Jones was brought back in #3 but by then it was to late. The lack of weapon use by the turtles were due to ALL the outraged mother's after the first one (personally I think they just needed a good DD and they'd have been fine with it, oh well what's done is done).
The sequel was fasttracked and was releasef less than a year after the 1st one. Alot of the actors were making other films. The first April actress asked for double what she made on the first.
It was originally supposed to be Bebop & Rocksteady as the villains alongside Shredder and the foot clan. Why they changed it to a wolf and snapping turtle is beyond me. We had to wait till the 2016 film "TMNT: Out Of The Shadows" to finally see Bebop & Rocksteady up on the big screen..
I've heard that they didn't use Bebop & Rocksteady because one of the original creators (I can't remember if it was Eastman or Laird) didn't like them and wanted to do their own versions. I've also heard it said that he didn't like B&R because they were created for the cartoon, thus he didn't have rights over them.😁
Part of the reason for the re-casting was because TMNT2 was fast tracked, into production because of the success of the first film combine, so not everyone was available. In fact if I remember right, production for TMNT2 was a lot shorter than that for the first film

Another bonafide cinematic classic (and by that I mean the tape damn near had permanent residency in my VCR growing up so the nostalgia is especially strong with this one)! Also casey jones wasnt in this one cause the first movie had a lot of issues in europe because of too much violence, its also why the turtles pretty much dont use their weapons in thiis one and since casey is pretty much a guy that hits people with every day objects they cut him
Honestly the sequel it's basically like the cartoon but just live action
Super Shredder was played by now retired wrestler Kevin Nash (the reason for his bulked up look)
Thank y’all for doing this one. I think I wore out this vhs tape as a kid. DO NOT do part 3, lol
Definitely much sillier through adult eyes lol
I actually think they would enjoy 3
@@JoeandOlly you might be right. I haven’t seen in nearly 30 years. Might not be as bad as I remember. 🤷♂️
That's all.
Where's your proof that Krang was in the original movie?
(and yes, everyone was expecting Bebop and Rocksteady, but they wanted new characters so they could make more toys 🙄)
Bit of trivia for you: Kevin Nash/Diesel (WCW/WWF wrestler) played "Super Shredder" in this movie.
Kevin Nash as Super Shredder!! Sooooo badass!!
David Warner in a rare non-villanous role.
For some reason i always cracked up when they are all struggling in the net at the junkyard and leo yells "GET YOUR ARM OUTTA MY FACE"
I’m so glad you guys caught that “Coming………….to a decision” part, that always cracks me up 😂😂😂
You guys are the funniest channels out there. You're an example for the rest of us. Great Content!
@7:37
For those who didn't know...
He really was incredibly athletic - though I wouldn't ever say he was a good actor :)
The first movie was fun - this felt like more of a cash grab.
He also starred in Surf Ninjas with his father.
This was my fav TMNT Film as a Kid, loved Toka and Razor plus the Super-Shredder was Dope! Upon re-watches as an adult i probably like TMNT 1 the most now.
And it's funny trying to imagine Kevin "Diesel" Nash as the Super Shredder..!
Red Sonja with Arnold. The last dragon with Bruce Leroy. The rundown with the Duane Johnson. Keno was in all of them.
Keno is also the little boy in The Last Dragon.
Fun Fact 23:42 Shredder is Kevin Nash the wrestler
I remember the day my dad got me this movie on dvd loved this movie ever since
Vanilla Ice being in this move was a huge deal for us kids in 1991 lol
30:23
“Stay Tuned” (1992)
Greatest reason for a dance number, that movie 😂💙
Y’all should watch Surf Ninjas & 3 Ninjas. Has the same humor
Way back in the Wonderful World of Disney days Keno was a little karate bad ass kid in Side Kick.
Fun fact: the actor who played keno was the guy who was inside the suit doing the fighting in the first movie as donatello
Keno is a martial arts legend with a phenomenal family legacy. father and son were incredible in Surf Ninjas. i totally recommend
Everybody learned real quick to give Splinter his alone time up on that roof. You do not want to see a mutant rat's O face. 😂
Once Splinter goes up, no other shall follow.
They wanted to tone down the violence which is why the weapons were not used as much by the turtles and the third they go back in time to early Japan kid you not
Parents in the studios said that the movie was too violent, so they went very light for the second ones and they didn’t like Casey Jones even though everybody loved him
Kevin Nash is the super shredder back when he went by the name master blaster steel
My childhood movie😂💖
Fuck yes. I'm so happy you guys did this one. Most reactors just do the first one. I'll admit it's a better film, but as a kid I thoroughly enjoyed this movie more. Can't wait to see y'all's reaction.
I did all three in one go 😂 I know the first one is better, but like you I just love the second one!
The old couple at the taxi was the director's parents.
This is CRAZY FACT:
THREE (3) Ppl Were Each Turtle....... 😮
1) Body Suit
2) Face Puppet Work
3) Turtles' Voice
A Lot of Practice Was involved!! 🐢
Super Shredder was played by legendary wrestler Kevin Nash.
There were enough parental complaints about the first one that fir the sequel they sullied it up to make it more “kid friendly”.
Surf Ninjas: Good
Ninja Turtles 3: Dogshit
It was tone down because of parents complaining about the violence, and also the actress who originally played April in the original didn't like the violence, which is why she didn't come back for the second one.
Which is honestly a real let how great the original was.
Ernie Reyes jr who plays keno is actually a pretty famous martial artist. His dad is too. They're legit. It's why it looks good when he fights
The main issue with this movie is that it retcons Shredder's death from the first movie. There's no way he survived a trash compactor let alone falling like 10 stories.
Crazy crap like that happens to comic villians all the time, so it's fine.
I always thought it was weird that in the first movie, shredders defeated by being dropped off a building. Then in the second movie, shredder’s defeated by having a building dropped on him.
@@allanbaker3958 No, it's dumb there as well.
NINJA, NINJA.....RAP!!!!
Nice reaction! Love the turtles🙌🏾. Y’all really gotta watch Surf Ninjas. Classic. Ernie Reyes Jr., his father, Rob Sneider, and Leslie Nielson.
5:19 That's the guy that played in the Michaelangelo suit in all three movies.. 😁🐢
The actor who plays Keno was in a movie called Surf Ninjas from the 90s. You guys should totally react to that!!!
I saw this so long ago that the only thing I remember is the "Ninja Rap" part with Vanilla Ice. Not the song, but that it happened.
😂 same. I hate Vanilla Ice so much! No because he stolen Queen's music, but because he said he don't 🤣
The sequel was fasttracked and was releasef less than a year after the 1st one. Alot of the actors were making other films. The first April actress asked for double what she made on the first.
Another fun fact the guy who they had in the suit playing super shredder was none other than WWE's Kevin Nash
I've also heard it said that he didn't like B&R because they were created for the cartoon, thus he didn't have rights over them.😁
If you didn't know, the Super Shredder at the end was played by Kevin Nash
Fun fact... the guy who play the shredder (not the voice) was the wrestler Kevin Nash
Fun fact, Kevin Nash played Super Shredder
I'm surprised that Kevin Nash did not tear his quad in this movie. 😂
Fun fact: Keno was the little kid in The last dragon 😁
Part of the reason for the re-casting was because TMNT2 was fast tracked, into production because of the success of the first film combine, so not everyone was available. In fact if I remember right, production for TMNT2 was a lot shorter than that for the first film
You two are one of the best channels on TH-cam! If there's 3 movies I can't recommend enough for you guys to react to, its "rampage" (2009) , "rampage: capital punishment", and "rampage: president down". 3 of the darkest and most violent movies I've ever seen, but also 3 of the most entertaining movies in my opinion. All three of them are on TH-cam for free. Just type in the titles and they'll pop up. I think you guys would really like them.
They don’t describe it well, but they suggest that Shredder was somehow resurrected by the leaky ooze canisters.
I know you guys aren’t watching the third one but Casey Jones does return in that one. My only problem with the third one is that the costumes don’t look as good
And Corey Feldman is back
Casey jones babysitting tho that movie was horrible.
People just don’t think it’s good cause of the costumes and it takes place in rural Japan otherwise the storyline is better than the 2nd one
@@vnthony2439 hell naw that movie is horrible the story is all over the place, voice acting is bad, Casey jones babysitting these grown men. Yes that movie is ridiculous bro.
among other BS, even less fighting even though they are in Feudal Japan ffs. . . shitty FX, anticlimactic finish, i could go on if i wanted to nitpick.
yeah the person who played keno ernie reyes jr also played the young martial arts kid in the last dragon, also the reason why tmnt 2 secret of the ooze was so ott on the comedy was due to erm us brits which is a shame as they was moaning about the nun-chucks being used and how the first tmnt was dark.... :/
I love how the Foot Clan in this movie looks like all those fancy kids from Dead Poets Society
when i was a kid I liked this movie but now I look at it and it feels incredibly cheesier. super light hearted instead of dark like the first one. This one really has the same tone as the 80s-90s cartoon
FUN FACT: shredder tore his quads when he pushed over that pier…
(Thats a Kevin Nash joke).. lol
Another bonafide cinematic classic (and by that I mean the tape damn near had permanent residency in my VCR growing up so the nostalgia is especially strong with this one)!
It could have been better without parents disrespecting their kids thinking they are too stupid to be able to separate film from real life but parents are going to parents; even back in the day they always found something to panic or be outraged about🙄. More things change more they stay the same and all that. That said, I still quite enjoy it.
Eh hmm. Anywho...
🙏Please get to reacting to Dirty Work in honor of the criminally underrated, late, great Norm MacDonald sometime this month please and thank you!🙏
