    Great review and exactly what I needed to "see in the future" and better understand what I want to do with the Pocket EVO's backing I currently am sitting on. Thanks a lot!

      And what conclusions did you draw? Thinking about pulling the trigger on the Evo… but I am planning to play native android games mostly, so I would love to have a solid experience there at least…

      @@Bl4ckOnTube I ended up cancelling it. Then, after they upgraded the panel to 165Hz, I went and backed it again! -_-'
      That said, if the 165Hz is not important for you, which it really only exclusively be if you stream from your PC, I'd say the AYN Portal is probably the better pick tbh.

      @@GameTechTalk Thanks a lot man, I wasn't even aware AYN was launching the Portal... but I guess this is why so many people were cancelling Pocket EVO backings...
      I am just held back by the absence of Play Store certification on the Portal now 🫠🫠🫠

    I pre-ordered the black and the white model and I’m glad I canceled my order. Because they have the pocket Evo coming out and that’s what I’ve always wanted so I will be buying about four of those.

      The Evo does look nice! I think it looks like a MUCH bigger device so I can definitely see the benefit of both style of devices. I hope I can get my hands on an Evo for a review!

    Mine just shipped so I gotta wait a few days more and I'm looking forward to having an upgrade to my RG556, which has been my favorite emulation device so far.

      whats the verdict on your purchase?

    • @morallytainted1
      @morallytainted1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cvig1075 It's a very nice upgrade to the 556 but it really depends on how your wanting to use it if it will be worth it for you. If your wanting just retro gaming then the 556 is perfect. However if you want to be able to run PS2 and newer then the Pocket S has handled everything I've thrown at it. The Pocket S also doesn't have the controller issues that the 556 has for GeForce Now and Android games are running so much better. So for me the Pocket S has been a very nice device that I don't have any regrets with.

    Great review. I just wanted to provide one critique. While watching the video, I couldn't help but feel that you are reading a script while recording the video when the camera is on you. It has the side effect of making it feel disingenous. By comparison, when the video is focused on the gameplay, you sound much more natural

    Those specs will be perfect for games like Wuthering waves, Zenless zone zero, Honkai Star Rail and Genshin impact..
    Really frustrating that we could've used those great specs for Skyline, Yuzu, Citra and Aethersx2. All development got shut down or hindered massively. Those emulators could've been tinkered and optimized more. Yuzu turns my gaming phone into an oven while playing Diablo 3. While skyline didn't but can't play 3d games like zelda.

    • @ScatteredBrain
      @ScatteredBrain  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Totally! Android native gaming is pretty solid, maybe needs some driver updates.. but the capabilities of Android have far exceeded the pace of powerful emulators!

    This, the Odin 2 pro or the RP4P (this being more expensive by about $100)? RP4P interests me due to being D-pad centric, Odin apparently good bang for the buck, this worth it? I mostly like simpler 2D-games so shmups, fighting and indies. If it can play Switch decently it's a BIG plus; so many indies that look good. Edit: D-pad placement on this doesn't look TOO bad but I have pretty small hands... IS it comfy enough?

    • @ScatteredBrain
      @ScatteredBrain  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you just said the reason why the RP4 Pro should be your choice! It’s a great form factor, great d-pad, great analog sticks. No it’s not the most powerful thing in the market - especially being released about 8 months ago or so, but it’s hands down solid.
      The Odin 2 pro is usually my personal recommendation because of the sheer power it packs in there.
      And the AYANEO Pocket S has the best software and latest, greatest, fastest chipset - but if you’re not using that power, you don’t need it! Also I don’t love the analog sticks. But the d-pad is good, even tho it’s a bit mushy.
      But that’s another thing to consider. Do you want a membrane d-pad or a clicky d-pad? That’s going to be a big deciding factor for you too!
      Thanks for watching! 😊

    • @SicketMog
      @SicketMog 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ScatteredBrain Thanks for the reply and help. Well that makes the choice HARDER for me because I LIKE the mushier D-pads... 🤔
      I think I'll wait out the auction for the RP4P and, depending on where it ends pricewise, either get that or try to haggle the guy selling the Pocket S (and if that doesn't work still possible to import a RP4P down the line).

    Odin 2 or this? I want one that is easy to use for Delta emulation playing DS titles

      iOS and iPadOS have the Delta app - not for Android unfortunately. But you can get great standalone emulators on either Odin 2 or AYANEO Pocket S.

    • @ScatteredBrain
      @ScatteredBrain  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Spec wise, this is more powerful. But it’s also a brand new Snapdragon so it might take a little to get it more optimized - like in my Call of Duty/Genshin examples.
      HOWEVER I do love the Odin 2…. And spoiler, the Odin 2 mini is even better

    Can you play Warzone Mobile ?

    • @ScatteredBrain
      @ScatteredBrain  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn’t specifically try Warzone but the chipset is top of the line! The only thing I’d be cautious of is why those games I tested (COD Mobile and Genshin) didn’t see that it should run those games at high graphics and high frame rates with no problem.
      In the end Genshin says it was “overclocked” but ran great anyways!
