  • Here’s a quick look at at my new big bore .30 cal airgun. It’s a bit of a beast, I’m slowly learning to shoot it accurately but it’s a challenge. Does is hit hard? Yeah! It packs a wallop. 😀

    Definitely a niche gun. When I first got my 135 in .30 I had to set my rear irons almost all the way left. I think that may have something to do with my hold. The rear sight now is basically centered and I can shoot surprisingly good groups. The thing is like carrying around a small telephone pole. Definitely will be used as a close to home feral pest eliminator.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Same! My rear sight had to go way over to the left. It’s a big, chunky airgun to carry around that’s for sure. I’m looking forward to seeing if I can master it. 😄

    I have had my .30 hatsan for a few months now and adding to other comments, here are some things I learned. This beast needs a 3x9x40 scope for getting good grouping. This model is known for a bad fitup from barrel to body. That's why the open sights always have to be adjusted so far on windage. Every one of these I have done extensive testing on shoots far right. The barrel clearance at the breach is gapped on the left side and tight on the right. Hatsan needs to correct this issue. All hold down screws need to be checked and tightened before firing; and once the .30 is broken in after about 200 rounds it will with a good shooter group one inch consistantly at 45 yrds all day with predator pellets. No other pellets we have tested are as consistent and don't need a seating tool.

    Kia ora! - I have the Hatsan Mod 135 QE Springer in .30 Cal...best advise I can share for your Hatsan, is to strip the gun down completely!
    For some reason the Factory uses really poor quality grease & oil (I think they use these more for storage than usage purposes)
    My one was bloody terrible when i first got it...but after a complete tear down, cleaned all the 'muck' out of it and used high quality grease & oil in the right areas...a totally different gun!
    There are some great videos by Mike Ellingsworth on youtube that walk you through a trigger rebuild and such for the carnivor...HIGHLY recommend these!
    Plus with the more rounds put through it, the more accurate they become!...but you need to clean the barrel regularly! (gets dirty real fast and it DOES effect accuracy!)
    One more tip...the standard Air Gun "Artillery hold" does NOT work with these beasts! - use more of a standard "rifle grip", firm and pull into the shoulder 😉(you will notice a huge difference in your groupings)
    Mine shot JUST like yours when I first got it...but now, its DEADLY accurate! (Get a good scope with Parallax Adjustable Objective...you will be surprised how far these .30's can reach out)
    Kia kaha and enjoy the new carnivor...they are a great gun once sorted 🥰-(I absolutely Luv mine!...now! 😂)

    You want to keep an eye on those rear sights, my experience is the elevation knob tends to come loose when shooting. At least it did on my mod25 pistol, it had the same crappy plastic sights, and they went a flying twice! Had to find a new spring for it the second time...😊

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I can totally see that happening. The rear sight is a small step above garbage. The elevation knob is already pretty loose due to the barrel droop. For the price of this gun, it’s shameful it came with such low quality sights.

    Hi Mate! I own a HW80 in .25 cal that delivers about 27 ft-lbs and that is also a beast. I don't want to be unkind but in my opinion .25cal is the max. to go for a springer or gas piston air rifle and the barrel droop explains you why. It's not only the pellet weight but the Ballistic coefficient sucks. Maybe you try to get .30 cal alloy pellets if possible. I can shoot well on 50 meters with my HW80 but even with the.25 cal it's not a long range air rifle. The 30 cal pellet is even more heavy and 30ft-lbs sounds a lot but is way to low for this heavy pellet. In this case you do have to stap in the PCP world mate. My advice, keep the open sights or buy a red dot and use it as a short range plinker and have fun. A.22lr delivers about 100 ft-lbs and that with a lighter bullet so i think i do not have to explain more. The most important is that we have fun shooting air rifles, and your Hatsan is shooting lead buckets 😁😆Cheers Mate!

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Lead buckets! 🤣 It’s been pretty fun so far, at least when I manage to hit something.there in lies the problem, I don’t even have an idea on pellet drop because I can’t hit anything at just 35 yds. But, I’m slowing getting better at taming the beast. I don’t have any interest in a .30 cal PCP. I can only imagine the amount of air it goes through that shooting with a hand pump would likely be maddening. I’ve also got a .25 cal Hatsan Mod 95 and those guns seem to have quite a following. I rarely shoot it as it’s also a difficult gun to shoot. But with it and this one, relatively cheap, big powerful airguns are fun for plinking. I’ll likely keep it iron sights in the long term as I think it’ll be murder on scopes. Thanks for watching!

    I had the same issue with barrel droop in one of my rifles (not a .30 haha), instead of buying adjustable mounts all I needed to fixed it was some cut-to-fit business cards placed under the scope in the rear scope mount. did the trick just right, had to remove a "layer" of card because it pushed the scope TOO far. hope this might help as a temporary option to try out your scopes, that rail is pretty awesome!

I'm lucky to get mine somewhere on a 12" paper plate... with JSB's or FX pellets, I can't use Hatsan pellets because they don't fit. Because the set screw was not set tight enough and backed off and the scope slid down the rail... I would make sure you have a very good set of picatinny rings... Have fun!!! you know I'll be watching for sure... Big C out...😎... PS I'm going to put mine over the crony, to see if there is a big swing in the power, these guns were known for bad piston seals... that is the only thing I can think of... got that off of (Mike Ellingsworth**Mr. Steppingstone) he has some content on these beast... l am the same way my most powerful air guns l own are the older sheridan c .20 cal. from 1970s to 1981 they are strong guns/ healthy guns but if l want more power and sheridan states this in there sheridan hand book that if you want more power from your sheridan then go with a .22 long rifle .

      Ha ha! It’s been something I’ve been curious about since ‘16 but I couldn’t bring myself around to buying one. But as a Christmas present from family…😄, now I finally have it. So far, every first shot I make with this gun at the beginning of a shooting session I’m like “Ugh! This thing is not pleasant to shoot”. But then I get used to it and start thinking it’s not that bad. When I actually hit something I really start digging it. Right now it’s just a novelty, I’m not sure what it’s good for or why it even exists but… that’s funny in its own right.😄 Smacking silhouettes and hearing the “Ting!” and watching them fly is really satisfying.

      I can and have. I’ve got quite a few airgun pistol videos I’ve done and also some carbine. As far as buying specific Hatsans in that realm, there are other airguns higher on my list that I eventually want to guy and add to my collection.

    Ok seems like it would be a great pellet gun. Except its not-----poor quality construction equals junk. Why not just make decent quality. Is this what the consumer can expect now in everything? Junk unless you buy the company and insist on good quality?

    I need to shoot out one of my neighbors super bright led light that lights up as bright as daylight all dam night wakes me up every 5 minutes that a cat passes by a bird flies by a flie flies by even a dam leaf falling activates the dam thing. But its protected by a metal lip over the top. Talked to the neighbor about inasked it he could aim the light lower so it lights up the ground and not my windows and the ahole simply said i should buy black curtains or cover my windows with cardboard or newspapers. So will this air rifle shoot through thin metal like sheet metal as thick as car door?
