Because spraying solvents everywhere is a great idea. For years people have been shown what garbage that can of stuff can be yet just keep spraying everything with it.
You may have to loosen the bolts that hold the engine and actually slide it forward. For reasons I don't understand on some models you can slide the engine forward and backward so if the engine is slide all the way back, the chain is going to come off all the time. Check that.
I just slid the motor forward, and it tightened the chain, and I haven't had a problem since.

If I took your advice and designed and manufactured alternatives to every poorly designed product in the world I'd be busy for a million years.
