The main thing is that the two sprockets are aligned properly. Even though I don't think it is causing it to come off but your chain needs oil badly and looks like it's starting to kink
LMAO, the first tip had me facepalming, just fixed up my bike today but the clutch is moving back and forth a good couple inches lol
My bike chain just broke the other day because of this reason this video is god tier

I have the same go kart as you. a Cobra 650xl. I put a 212 Honda predator with a 10t clutch. fun little cart. finding wheels is a pain in the ass though...

any recommendations as to where i can find a sleeve/collar for the crankshaft. I replaced my motor and it no longer aligns with my sprocket. Any alternatives to buying one either?
+rollmodel88 yes Ebay is where i found the two i mentioned in the video. if i remember correctly they were fairly cheap
@@gokartsengines8175 Spacers are available from many go kart suppliers. The two mentioned in the video are called shaft lock collars, primarily made for jack shafts not to space clutches. But if it works for you it works. Spacers are available in 5/8 bore for the smaller displacement engines and 3/4 for the larger displacement engines, like a P212 cc. The best cure is to buy quality go kart race chain instead of the cheap Chinese chain. The cheap chain elongates (stretches) quickly and wears out fast causing many chain related problems. Alignment and lubrication along with proper chain tension usually cures the chain popping of problem.
When i come to a stop om mine, the chain comes off. Any suggestions?

noticed my clutch was moving back and forth a good few mm, thought nothing of it, and still got mad when the chain popped off every ten feet. i'll try this after school thank you 🙏

by the way I have the same go kart as you but different motor, what brand is it? i got mine off of craigslist for $250 with a HV Horizontal Shaft Gas Engine EPA 212cc

Chain will pop off and over a period of time your chain will start to warp

Thank you, sir. I bought this old kart from some one who had it park on his yard. I bought a new motor and have some one installed. I was a belt driving, something went wrong when he installed the motor, and he told me to by a new clutch, now is just like the one on your video. My 8 year old drove it for about two weeks. Then the motor begging to make a

the rings you showed are collars. make sure to leave enough space between them and clutch for a bit of oil. they do hold in heat. but great idea

im having trouble with mine when i start it,it imidiately goes and this is hard for a pull start but i have the same problem here with the clutch i have to get to fix it some time and how can i fix the imidiate start
Could be the clutch, also could be that your throttle is not actually hooked up to the carb.
Noah Barnes I had the same problem with my dirt bike. Turns out that the clutch was seized up and it acted more like a direct drive. I filled the clutch with motor oil and ran the engine until the stuff burned off, and now it's fine.

+Javier Espinosa that could be as simple as your throttle is engaging constantly (check you throttle lever), could be a moter problem, or a broken clutch. also you may have set up the throttle cord to your peddle wrong

sometimes insufficient lube of the clutch. You mean: is it pulling forward immediately after starting it, when it is at idle? Two things: The clutch springs need adjusted (see: Doug Underdahl youtube channel) or else as I said the gap between the shaft and the inside of the clutch needs a drop of lube dropped down there. DO NOT put the lube in the round holes on the side of the clutch that will ruin it.

I'm building one from ground up ...an my sprocket on tire is smaller well that make a difference on take off m run time
Youll have less torque so acceleration, but top speed is better i have a 10th clutch with 48th sprocket went 36mph stock

Jacqueline Palencia get the 212cc it has alot more power and get a torque converter for more torque snd it should be fine

Hey man, my chain keeps falling off, its loose and whenever i press on the gas, the chain spins and doesnt catch on the gear because its soo loose
Tighten the chain, use a chain cutter
I dont have a chain cutter, I only have a bike chain breaker and thats too small
+Louis grind the pin down flat hammer and punch it out after.thats the old fashion way befor they have chain breakers.

Thanks for the information he was helpful and all of them I'm going to have to check. Chain never used to fall off now all-of-a-sudden is it was brand new so I'm hoping that it's just wearing in there's nothing actually wrong

BMI sells karting accessories but it depends on your sprocket size and length between the 2 sprockets

No it's actually not. Go karts don't use the clutch facing inwards.
