The literal plot armor kinda kills any tension. When you can just tank a beating from Goro and not even get a bruise, you KNOW no one is ever gonna be able to pose a threat.

2021 Raiden and Shang Tsung were just awful in this movie. Shang Tsung looks like a little b*tch trying to act tough and Raiden looked like he was walking around with hemorrhoids, he looked THAT stiff and awkward. That's funny cause that's what they did with the recent animated movie and guess what, it was a tonne better than the film adaptation. Hell, it even had the same opening.
From what I've heard, they specifically avoided having Johnny Cage, cause having a new OC to replace the primary character of the series makes things "better" according to certain people who want to shove their OCs in various franchises. Which of course kinda makes the whole things bleh, especially since if I recall, Mortal Kombat wouldn't have happened without Johnny Cage, since the game was originally suppose to be a Jean-Claude Van Damme game with Johnny Cage originally suppose to be Jean-Claude Van Damme. But when the rights for that fell through, the repurposed things.
When cole beat goro in the movie I literally said, “Wow, that was super easy, barely an inconvenience” and my wife was like, “yeah it was”. But she didn’t get my reference :(

I like how Sonya Blade didn't know who Cole was when he showed up, he had to reveal his tattoo thing, yet she had his picture plastered all over her exposition wall.
It did kinda come off as Sonya being the protagonist of an entirely different MK movie that the inclusion of Cole made them skip. She actually made two rivals over the course of the film, and actually earned her power. That Cole ended up being the one to fight Mileena despite the film taking the time to set her up as a rival for Sonya, made it really weird.

He might be the best champion who gets long age as a winner of the tournament. The only thing bothering me is the weird use of raiden’s transportation ability.
I got the impression that MK champions are essentially ageless and gather power over time. Hence Bi Han got an upgrade to Sub Zero with much stronger ice powers and Scorpion has the hellfire thing which basically seems like they ripped it off Ghost Rider.

They probably pilfered that tech from Edenia or Orderrealm, but they wouldn't work properly without magic power. So, when Jax awakens his Arcana, the arms reach their intended state. Why the hell would they have even bothered attaching the arms if they were just going to be tiny toothpicks?
Jax's Arcana was super strength, otherwise the arms alone wouldn't have been enough to lift the boulder off Sonya. However, because his arms were taken, his Arcana upgraded the mechanical prosthetics. Not that difficult.
He signed up for 4 films. Not 4 films where he plays The Juggernaut. Here also, even if there's success, MK is planed only to be a trilogy, so at least 2 films for Subby is off-franchise.
Being that Mortal Kombat is an established universe with lore that exists outside of the tournaments...we could literally have MK films that revolve around like...Shao Khan on his konquest of Outworld. Or maybe an invasion from another realm/world we haven't seen before. Like some kind of alien/monster world of eldritch terrors that basically forces some of our favourite heroes/villains to kooperate, to just SLAUGHTER the new threat and create a gore-filled movie (or series) where we actually get to cheer for our favourites performing iconic fatalities left/right and see them make more than just a single appearance before getting killed off (plus it gives the excuse to have the baddies actually pull off some kills/finishers without losing any "good guys" that Hollywood seems afraid to ever let die in an MK movie).

The only thing bothering me is the weird use of raiden’s transportation ability.
In the movie, Sub-Zero does mention a Shirai Ryu/Lin Kuei rivalry, but it's said so quick that one could forget about it
I got the impression that MK champions are essentially ageless and gather power over time.
Hence Bi Han got an upgrade to Sub Zero with much stronger ice powers and Scorpion has the hellfire thing which basically seems like they ripped it off Ghost Rider.

No no, you see monks living in the middle of a Chinese desert gave him robot arms, magic just made them bigger! That's a much easier pill to swallow.
They probably pilfered that tech from Edenia or Orderrealm, but they wouldn't work properly without magic power. So, when Jax awakens his Arcana, the arms reach their intended state.
Why the hell would they have even bothered attaching the arms if they were just going to be tiny toothpicks?
Think about it. His inner power was his arms. But since they were ripped off it evolved
Jax's Arcana was super strength, otherwise the arms alone wouldn't have been enough to lift the boulder off Sonya. However, because his arms were taken, his Arcana upgraded the mechanical prosthetics. Not that difficult.

Being that Mortal Kombat is an established universe with lore that exists outside of the tournaments...we could literally have MK films that revolve around like...Shao Khan on his konquest of Outworld. Or maybe an invasion from another realm/world we haven't seen before. Like some kind of alien/monster world of eldritch terrors that basically forces some of our favourite heroes/villains to kooperate, to just SLAUGHTER the new threat and create a gore-filled movie (or series) where we actually get to cheer for our favourites performing iconic fatalities left/right and see them make more than just a single appearance before getting killed off (plus it gives the excuse to have the baddies actually pull off some kills/finishers without losing any "good guys" that Hollywood seems afraid to ever let die in an MK movie).
