A lovely, lovely watch, with one easily resolved issue. I just can't understand why a brand would do this to a $1000+ watch, and it is the same clasp on their $1700+ diver too! Keep your eyes on these guys, they have a fantastic back catalogue to find inspiration within, and clearly an eye for detail and quality. Cheers, Jody

That’s basically pre-in-house Tudor levels of quality, the good, and the bad (clasp). It’s a steal to get all this for this price. And the design, sizing and proportions are spot on. I might get one of these soon. A beauty!

Love the watch. The clasp though is inexcusable! If you're paying 1000$+ for a watch you have a very heavy competition from likes of Hamilton, Oris, Monta, Christopher Ward etc. A milled clasp costs 10$ or less to make. There's no excuse for using the pressed one nowadays and at that price bracket.

What i can say is that even if its press, it does not feel like other low quality pressed clasps, it feels quite solid. I also like full steel clasps, but i think they also left it to keep the vintage style. The strap is of superb quality and i can easily compare it to other 5k-10k watches

    • @HonestWatchReviewsHWR

Couldn't agree more. If you can get a milled clasp on a $80 Parnis, there's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be on a watch costing this much. This is why I tend to buy AliExpress watches. You just get far better specs for the money. It's also why I have a few Seiko homages, but no actually Seikos.

I was pretty much set on buying the P-104 (I had even reached out to their US distributor) because the use of orange, the slide rule bezel, and the unique look of the bracelet makes its really incredible. Also having the two positions in the lugs for spring bars was a very thoughtful inclusion. BUT this was the first time I got a good look on that clasp. You can't have a watch that looks and feels high end asking $1200 with a clasp that is so intensely cheap in look and feel. To make it worse it's a clasp that isn't even secure which is simply is unacceptable on a tool watch.
Message to O&W please change the clasp. It doesn't have to be something with crazy features that rivals Rolex but just something that is solid and secure. I'll buy the watch once that happens as I don't want to have to spend money on getting an updated bracelet/clasp separately.

I really don’t mind hollow endlinks, push-pins or a pressed clasp, as long as the bracelet design (and taper!) is on point. So many microbrands offer milled clasps and screwed links, but the bracelet looks so clumsy that I have to replace it with a rubber strap anyway.

I have three vintage O&Ws... an ETA big pilot, a UNITAS nine-eater and a vietnam-era broad arrow field watch. Fifteen years ago you could find NOS & lightly used examples for very little money... they lurked in the shadows but represented fantastic quality... give 'em a service and they run like a top. Now that they are back in the limelight, those older ones are getting harder to find and a lot more expensive. I do hope they bring back the valjoux 7750 day-date chronograph. It had a legibility and design on par with Sinn and Fortis. It's nice to see them back in business. Jody! If you want another resurrected brand, give a look at Ikepod! Great episode, many thanks.

10:14 as much as I hate that Vader-scene, but... yeah. Appropriate reaction to that cheapo-clasp. Such a weird decision to make the watch beautiful where nobody will see
it and to make it ugly and cheap-looking where every user will see it every time he puts the thing on his wrist. Here's an idea: Use a standard rotor and ditch the custom engraving on the movement (nobody but your watchmaker will ever see them anyway) and spend a few more bucks on a proper, milled clasp.

It's elegant, functional, compact (for a 7750 based watch), and utterly reliable. Fit & Finish are first rate. I have had MANY 7750 chronos over the decades and this is one of 3 that have stuck. Enjoyed the review as always. Like this watch a lot - although I'm a bit surprised by the clasp! Not keen on the hands and indices either, they appear cheap compared to the other features such as the stunning bracelet.

Total agree on clasp. Should make it a law a watch should have at least 3 microadjustments

Great review! You're right - that clasp is absolutely shocking considering the price point of the watch! Imagine spending that amount on a watch that doesnt secure to the wrist properly!!

Why not sell watches without bracelets or straps. Let companies who want to specialise in those areas do the work and let watch makers who (obviously) don't really care leave it those that do. This bracelet is WAY too blingy for a pilot watch. The leather was much nicer IMO. I couldn't stop cringing at how long those lugs were. They stuck out way too far. As always your reviews Jody are awesome and entertaining. Glad to see some more upmarket stuff on the channel. Maybe you need another channel for the more luxury stuff? Just One Luxury Watch...since I cannot afford two.

Thanks for the intro to this watch! Hard to believe the dial, case, bracelet and even the hidden movement and rotor being so beautiful and meticulously detailed only to have the ugly pressed clasped! Bummer! I think the watch looks best when worn with that bracelet!

Owned a couple of O&W's in the early 2000's when they were still basically Sub clones. Back then they were priced in the 350.00 range and quality control was hit or miss, mostly miss. Nice to see their designs have been freshened up and the brand still around. I'm somewhat in the minority these days on watch size in that my first dive watch was a Seiko 6309-7040 in the early 80's and that kind of set the standard for what I look for in watch sizing. Anything below 41mm for me and I feel like I'm wearing a ladies watch (not that there's anything wrong with that), ahem. Anyway, great review, keep'em coming.

If I were going to drop $1,000 on a watch, even the *possibility* that it would fall off of my wrist would be a deal-breaker. They need to do better on that clasp.

@Gary Lee I have a Pro Diver. It's got a pressed clasp. But it only cost $80. I've had it come off my wrist once or twice in a couple of years. If it were worth $1,000, even once or twice in a couple of years would be too often.

This is very useful. I have been looking at their 1000 S diver for a while and giving it serious consideration. They’ve cleverly not shown how poor the clasp is on the promotional photos. I have to say it was my number one contender, but I’m going to hold off and see if they alter it. That model is more expensive still selling for north of £1350 UK over $1600 US , and I’d have been disappointed I’m sure once I’d seen it in the flesh so to speak. Just goes to show how useful a bit of reliable extra information is . Thanks

Completely irrelevant to the video, but I have to find somewhere to unleash my excitement, and I know Jodi's comment sections appreciate a good bargain...I just got a lightly used Spinnaker Cahill for $99 on r/Watchexchange! I'm a high school student, and I just got birthday money, so I'm just so happy I was able to jump on it as I never expected to own such a fantastic watch, and a Spinnaker nonetheless, before I got a full time job and finished college. By the way, this channel is what got me into watches, thanks for all the content!

Just seen this review. I think this is a very good watch (apart from the clasp) Why would you pay 20k for an Rolex (with faults), when for a fraction of the price you can buy this watch.
This watch seems to be far superior in quality and attention to detail. Very unusual these days to get something that is hand finished and pays a lot of attention to detail for a relatively small price (in Swiss watch terms.) Also is 90 percent made in Switzerland. Well done O & W. I think this must be one of the best watches that you have reviewed (bang for buck!)

Another nice review. I like the idea of reviewers and even podcasters giving an idea of what their daily actually is...maybe a future vid on what you look for in a watch you wear every day (or a refresher if you’ve already done the video)

Good review hard to be objective when they give you a watch but a reasonable balance and I agree the watch is excellent. I can also see the bracelet frustrations. Shame they cut costs on the bracelet probably 50 dollars would have fixed it. Look at what Strapcode do for 120 dollars it’s pretty amazing.

If you like it, check this latest model th-cam.com/video/3OJ3-_r8PT4/w-d-xo.html i agree the clasp could improve with jody, but the quality is still very good and superb on case and the strap. They declare it as hand made.
