    Hi Guys,
I borrowed a watch off a newly revamped watch company, not quite a start-up, but they are called Ollech and Wajs and this is their P-101. It's a cool swiss made tool watch powered by the ETA 2824-2.

Adrian, you used to (and maybe still do) work in an arm of H.R, plus had that time in London when you felt you were being targeted for your watch...so my question, do you make conscious decisions of when to, and when not to wear a certain watch based on the perception or reaction others may have towards you- from positive to negative? e.g. wearing a £10k watch in a HR meeting

Like the mix of cars, outdoorsy and the watch review on par, keep this content coming. I do like the look of that strap, brown leather, worn with the stitching. I can’t feel the quality. Interesting how it wears after time, maybe soften up. You get what you pay for. Good price to get a tool watch collection going.

I was sure others would have mentioned Vostok, regarding the clickless bezel. No further engineering required, and you do get used to it just fine. In fact, smooth-bidirectional becomes a change of pace attribute.

  • @timmanning5357
    @timmanning5357 ปีที่แล้ว

Am yet to see a bidirectional bezel with clicks. The friction bezel on this watch is perfect for its intended use. As for the "grittiness" of the crown, i have experienced that with watches I own and they very quickly lose that feel and become smooth as silk.
This watch for the money is hard to beat especially with a regulated Swiss movement from a company that is proud to proclaim 90% Swiss manufacture.
Agree with you about the finish on the hands. Under macro they are very coarsely done. But even still you could forgive them for that as this watch is essentially a workhorse tool watch not a show pony.

Have a look at a German brand called Archimede. They're one of a few brands owned by Ickler, a German case maker since 1924. I have their dive watch called Sporttaucher (meaning Sport diver) - quite an original design given the plethora of sub homages out there. It's a bit 50 fathoms with 12, 3, 6 and 9 markers, but a nice alignment of date window and crown at 4 o'clock

I am a fan of the original O & W watches, I have a neat military model from 1992 and I had a yellow faced XXL which was a great watch, solid and well put together but at 43mm too big, they used to make some great divers watches and their military watches were very popular with American G I’s. This new one is too thick at 15 mm and lugs are too large, I agree the hands look unfinished and the bezel looks like cheap plastic.

Idea for a video, if you can...
Everybody only speaks about ETA and in a smaller amount Sellita. As you know eta will be reducing its sales to non swatch group companies thus need to use other movements, but their are some other movements from Switzerland that nobody speaks about and that must be good, maybe you could do a little video about them, and the watch that they power... (technotime, vaucher, soprod, felsa and others)...

I looked at their dive watch , the 1000 but was a bit put off by the lack of lume . To be advertised as a diver tool , if you can't see it when your down in the dark at depth then it isn't doing its job properly. Just my opinion. Kind of fitting that you did get a wet foot.: I guess the guys who were wearing the original Ollech & Wajs did get some wet feet occasionally while approaching the pitching carrier deck in their A-4's F-8' or F-4's when coming back to the boat from a mission out of south asia, as well as the guys on the ground walking through the jungle and the paddy fields.
I totally agree with you on the mentioned improvements that should be done. Besides that, it's a cool looking watch IMHO.

Best start to your videos. The enthusiasm for the cars was brilliant and the “I can jump a meter “ was comedy gold...! Love it. Oh yeah, the watch was nice too :-)

Why do you put SFr and not CHF? I thought CHF is more universally known.

Hey Adrian! 👋🏻 I need a good quartz watch that can take a serious beating for work as an RN. Preferably an analog as all the other nurses wear G-Shocks or 🍎 watches so I’d like to be different.. (also on a rubber strap so I can clean it very well with disinfecting wipes)
Thank you for all the amazing content. 👏 -Nikko

Now that’s a high class dogging location.....pish mysel with the long jump. The strange thing is the blackness of the date window makes the dial look grey.

Great video, love the setting and I thought a very fair review, I’ve got the sister O&W P-104 and would concur with crown, I’ve got 7.5” wrists to lug to lug doesn’t affect me but compared to my Chris Ward 42mm they are long. Mine also had the slide-rule bezel which for a 60yr old is impossible to read. I got the watch because I have an older O&W and I liked the black and orange colour scheme.

Thanks for the review.....refreshing to see a review of a nice, but relatively unknown (at least to me) timepiece. Well done! 👍

How about the Orient Kamasu? Can be bought for under 300 probably, sapphire crystal, on house movement with hacking and hand-winding, relatively small dimensions that can fit smaller wrists, and can be regulated to within 5 seconds. In my opinion, the green version is the nicest, but the one with a red dial and black bezel is nice too.
Probably one of the weak points is the bracelet, which has folded endlinks. However, the strapcode bracelet for the Kamasu is out, but I'm not sure about the quality. What are your opinions on Strapcode bracelets?

Looks a great watch for the price.
Jump made me smile 😃. Re reviews - Certina DS PH 200 for £645 - good solid tool watch.

The strap is a key thing. Longines make great watches but somehow often fall short on straps, I got all the straps they provide for the Legend diver and each one falls short in one way or another. Rolex bracelets are industry leaders, but they should be easy to swap like on an overseas and all should have glidelock. Every single watch above a certain price should pay a lot of attention to straps and bracelets and have quick release exchange as a basic. For me it is laziness from the industry not to have this. The strap is important, being able to change it as you like for your mood or occasion is something that should be easy and not require any tools.

Great video, and on so many levels. New-to-me watch brand, stunning scenery, nice duds, and feats of strength... you had it all in this one. It was a real pleasure to watch. I’m feeling a pull to relocate and get closer to nature, those shots are hitting me in the right spot

Adrian.....Thank Gawd you've pronounced Wajs correctly as Oh Lech and Vice....a few years ago Mr Wajs was still working from an office in Zurich selling NOS movements and AOPA Navitimers... BTW....O and W were most during the Vietnam era for their 24 hour Blue and Red Bezel O. W. Early Bird it was an iconic watch....just saying...

Haha. I did contact them to ask how it was pronounced. The J threw me off.

Adrian... ...Albert Wajs was always very approachable, he was perhaps the first manufacturer to cut out the middle man, he had no ADs and dealt directly with his customers.. He made his reputation dealing with PX stores and US servicemen during the Vietnam war. He passed on the O&W company to a French collector in 2017... His O&W Early Bird is a modern classic and makes big money now...any other info....just let me know...

Nice little watch but diameter is far too small for me. Brand not world wide recognisable. Overpriced taking all above under consideration . Anyway , presentation was very professional and interesting. You deserve 👍👍👍
