Thanks for sharing this one! I don't have many options of wood to turn and have mostly checked logs and was hoping to learn a few tips. Thank you so much for doing such a great job of teaching what you do! The bowl turned out beautiful!
Great looking bowl Shay I have a question for you. How do you decide what shape to turn a bowl is it down to the shape of the blank or the type of wood or even the ability to sell it?
It is all three Woody mate. Sometimes the shape of the wood dictates a low wide bowl, Irish wood sells best as a standard bowl shape and high wall bowls and odd shaped sell very well. It really depends on what mood I am in. Shay
Yes David there is, entering a cut with the bevil facing away gives you a clean entry then pivoting the gouge puts the inside bevil in contact so you can cut easier and cleaner. I go into it a bit clearer in this video th-cam.com/video/XIcYh0V9GEA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y4Gpq2syOZTyXSRS Shay

2030 is there a reason for 'pivoting' the tool in this way.?

Wood turning videos should have no one talking.
Then how does anyone watching it learn.
Shay
No one talking???? Ridiculous!!
Get out of here ! How will anyone know the thought process & learn from them if there is no talking
