Just a “buyer beware” from my experience. I bought the $100 series x wireless headset in this video and it was great sound wise, but once I joined an Xbox party with friends to test the mic, it literally picks up EVERY background noise there is. TV in a different room, ceiling fan, you name it. My friends could hear the sticks and buttons of my controllers loudly, every click I made. I did loads of troubleshooting, firmware updates, setting tweaks, all to no avail. Nothing would fix the sensitivity of this mic. I ended of returning it and buying the Arctis 7x for $50 more and am beyond please with that purchase. For some reason none of these reviewers talk about the mic sensitivity of this $100 headset, however if you google there is plenty of forums complaining about this exact issue and they’re all still waiting on a software fix from Microsoft for a resolution. Again this was just my experience, hopefully it saves someone some time and helps you rethink before you buy..

I've slept in these listening to music while gaming and when I woke up xbox was off, but my music from phone still beaten... Get these if you don't know what to get and you won't be mad guaranteed.
I have the regular Arctis 9 for work and gaming on my laptop and switch. It feels amazing, sounds brilliant and works so great! The duality of bluetooth and wireless is so handy! I just love it so much!

Also coming from experience with the new Xbox headset it comes with Dolby atoms (yes you have to pay 14 bucks) which is a great feature and well worth the extra 14 bucks to enhance the audio makes a huge difference when playing rainbow and forza horizon 4
Its pretty crazy what xbox has done. Only significant differentiators are really comfort(subjective) and audio quality (and even this is subjective) and on top of that the Xbox headset has an equalizer so you can tune the sound to your liking!
I have the 9x and damn it’s a game changer. So comfortable. After gaming for about 5 hours straight, my ears don’t hurt or anything. And the battery life is great. I used them for at least a week without changing it.
See for me the 9x is awful 😂 had them for under a year and they have been nothing but trouble lol. Disconnects randomly, super crackly, sounds is brutal just not a fan.
I got one on day 1 without preordering. I was fortunate because I did hear they were difficult to get and have already seen them on eBay for ridiculous prices.

A better test would have been the Turtle Beach 700 gen 2's. Especially considering it has more features than the Arctis. Cooling ear gel with adjustment for glasses wearers. Phone app for control allows you to control the headset settings while in game since you don't have to go into the xbox app to do it. Updater app for Mac (the only headset that offers that currently), 50mm drivers, user mappable button on the headset, and and 20 hour battery life. For only 50 bucks more than the Xbox 1st party headset

@@lewis523 I honestly feel the Stealth 700 is the superior headset. It connects directly to the Xbox. It has a phone app to control eq, and other settings. With the 7X, you have to connect it to your computer to make changes. IMO it’s more comfortable because I don’t like the ski goggle sitting on my head. If you like the 700, I would just rock with it. I kept the 7X and have it connected to my PS4.

Can't fault them at all, sound perfect out the box, like you said the app, Bluetooth and direct connection to the xbox. They did hurt my ears first couple of times wearing them but they no longer do now I'm used to them. My ears do stick out a little which doesn't help 😂
As someone who owns multiple headsets including xbox’s new first party headset I can say that the first party xbox headset is great! Except it does hurt the top of my head for prolonged use.. my head can feel the metal beam and the headset overall is a little too tight but audio quality is amazing! My hypercloud x is much more comfortable though and my friends say the mic quality on the hyper cloud x is far superior so yeh, get the xbox headset for general gaming but buy the hypercloud x (same price) for competitive shooters with mates.
Is the hyperx that you have wired? I'm okay with that if it is affordable and mic is better than my Cloud Flight for PS4. I'm looking to get an Xbox and need a headset with a good mic.
Xbox headset has one of the best microphones on a headset. Everyone I’ve talked to says it sounds better over Xbox Live compared to the Turtle Beach stealth 700. On the flip side the stealth 700 in my opinion does have better sound quality overall. That’s even after tuning the headset for what’s best for me. To be honest anything more expensive than the Xbox headset isn’t worth the $50-$100 premium.
i sold my 9x for xbox one. the connection is 10 times better. less disconnection, no more random controller disconnection because the headset disconnected and also more secure on head.

Once the 9X die or randomly disconnect from your Series X it unsyncs your controller. Making it impossible for it to sync back to your Xbox unless you unplug your console and restart it. I loved, but hated that headset.
I’m pretty sure it’s a bug with the series x, happened to me a few times with just my controller where I had to completely restart my console. I think they fixed that like a week ago though.

I will also say this: There are a bunch of good 3rd party headsets for both Xbox and PlayStation. Hell, I own the turtlebeach recon 70 and the Hyperx cloud stinger for PS4 and they're both really damn good for both being $50.
I got the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2. I had the gen 1 but my child and I broke it during a tug of war match because she grabbed it off my desk while I was out of the room and I didn’t notice she had my already broken mic and we broke it easily. Fucking love the gen 2 and I was happy that I replaced it

I found the headsets that rely on the built in transmitter from the Xbox don’t have the best range and also sound choppy. Personally I found the Arctis 1 by Steelseries to be the most versatile b/c it connects to everything, is very comfortable and is just $99.
Just so people understand the Bluetooth usage for gaming while connecting to discord at the same time. One of those Bluetooth connections is considered a “phone call”. It uses your Bluetooth on your pc or phone for discord as a phone call and automatically cuts your game audio on your Xbox in half. Technically it makes sense or else your ears would be blasted. Why is no one is mentioning this in reviews ? No clue. Just be aware of this. Cause I found the mic quality terrible in discord and on Xbox live. I also found the headset very uncomfortable but everyone has a different head shape and size. I returned mine but I know plenty of others that love it. I just wonder if they game as long as I do cause that sucker gave me headaches. Lol

I just did a base station update on my A50 s. To save alot of money for now. (The sound is now through the USB instead of the fiber optic cable, which the Xbox series X doesn't have a fiber optic output. )
I cannot trust you opinion on comfort nor your opinion on sound quality as you appear to wear the headset over a beanie which fundamentally changes how the headset will feel and sound.
I still have the arctis 9x for a really good price and I still love it yes it is wireless so you don't need a dongle for the xbox but you can use it wired with other devices like PlayStation and switch and the audio quality is still the same no difference highly recommend it if you can get a good deal on it

Sorry to say but out of all the high end headsets I've bought and tried the turtle Beach elite pro 2 are my favourite ever. So underrated sound is absolutely amazing especially with the EQ on the phone app and the Bluetooth support at the same time and the optional mic is amazing. You should review it and let us know what you think I'd love to see that!
What about spacial audio? The Xbox headset supports multiple formats while the steelseries does not. How is dolby atmos in the headset compared to 3d audio on the ps5? You discussed the ps5s 3d audio but not this one? Why?
I've gone through 2 headsets and all exhibit crackling/random disconnects using the wireless xbox adapter on PC. No issues on the bluetooth but it defeats the purpose of the dual audio
I have the 9x and I feel the audio quality is far too low. When I play Apex Legends I can barely hear footsteps at all. If I join Discord or Xbox Party chat from my phone while playing it boost the audio, but I can't access game chat while playing with randoms. Anything I'm doing wrong? I've tried factory resetting and I have firmware updates.
How can you review a headset whilst wearing a beanie? Your not going to get the full sound or the full comfort of the ear cups, both essential for an in-depth review

The new xbox one is only good if you are know how to use an equaliser. Out the box they sound awful. Best way to describe them is you feel like you're underwater. Steel series are nice but just don't feel current with the micro USB and wires and dongles. Plus neither have the dedicated volume wheels for chat and game. Just that silly chat mix wheel. Also steel series have to be connected to a computer to be tinkered. Also steel series don't have Bluetooth. Best headset all round id say is the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2. Has it all

A better upgrade is probably a compatable external microphone and some chunky open backs (Especially good when playing single player experiences)

I don't know how the others sound, but I agree, the 700 Gen 2's do all that stuff, and are cheaper that the Steel Series 9X too.

I've gone through 2 headsets and all exhibit crackling/random disconnects using the wireless xbox adapter on PC. No issues on the bluetooth but it defeats the purpose of the dual audio

I have the 9x and I feel the audio quality is far too low. When I play Apex Legends I can barely hear footsteps at all. If I join Discord or Xbox Party chat from my phone while playing it boost the audio, but I can't access game chat while playing with randoms. Anything I'm doing wrong? I've tried factory resetting and I have firmware updates.

I have the xbox headset and coming from turtle beach 800x i can onestly say. There actually better and more light weight than my turtle beach plus the battery lasts me like 3 dayd

The new xbox one is only good if you are know how to use an equaliser. Out the box they sound awful. Best way to describe them is you feel like you're underwater.
Steel series are nice but just don't feel current with the micro USB and wires and dongles. Plus neither have the dedicated volume wheels for chat and game. Just that silly chat mix wheel.
Also steel series have to be connected to a computer to be tinkered. Also steel series don't have Bluetooth.
