With Varane and Licha at the back, the team seems well balanced and play with a level of confidence. EtH has been denied that by the numerous injuries resulting to several center-back pairings the entire season...and he has survived without a recognized left-back.

If I were bayern I would have gone for erik, people think he can't play possession based football but he definitely can. It's just that it doesn't fit the majority of the united players right now. And he will probably give them a defensive masterclass too!!

However, the 8th place and -1 goal difference in this year's Prem, the many wallopings against City, the infamous 7-0 against Liverpool that everyone will still talk about decades later... I disagree with you, the way we played today is not our identity, but the tactics were effective and impactful which totally nullified City and even caused them to be anxious which led to them making a lot of mistakes at the back. If it wasn't for Walker, City would have most likely conceded more goals. As much as I doubt that Ten Hag is the right guy for the job, I have to commend him and the players for showing us some respect and taking some of the shame out of our eyes. But where was all this passion and pride all season?? Anyway, congrats to Ten Hag and the players, they really deserve to be celebrated, since we bash them whenever they do poorly..
