Glad to see your review on the Cabo Killer from Jansen, I own a few of the 3 oz. version which I bought on a trip to Cabo and visited his shop, they do indeed cast like bullets and catch not just Roosters but huge pacific Jacks (trevally). I do want to ask you this; I replaced the split ring with two better quality rings on one lure and on another I replaced the one ring and added a swivel, this seemed to balance the lure on the water better than when purchased and tried while in Cabo, not sure which modification works better yet, now I want to replace the treble hook to a BKK; which version and what size and X size did you use on your Cabo Killer, I couldn't hear what you said in the video...I do enjoy all your content. Thank you.
Hi Ralph, I used a 3/0 BKK Raptor Z barbless treble, mainly because I’ve run out of BKK Lone Diablos! Lol. I need to use them first, but I might do the split swivel split single hook (see my GT Ice Cream video), as it’s better for the fish and just in case better if you accidentally hook a fellow angler! Being a surface skipping lure that doesn’t need to “grab” the water (like say a popper) I can’t see a downside to using a single as described above. Hope this helps. Have you joined the Facebook group?
I appreciate your reply. What about the "X size" of these bkk treble hooks, I suppose it refers to the size or gage of the wire; what X size should these be?
@@PoppersStickbaitsI appreciate the function of trebles, but I like the idea of a single here. What single would you recommend? Also, have you tried the shorter lighter Cabo Killer?
@@richarde1355 I’m very tempted to swap the treble out for my usual rig (for this type of lure), ie split-swivel-split-hook. For this size I’d go for a BKK Lone Diablo 7/0 inline single. TBH I’d run out of 7/0 LD hooks, hence filming with a treble. As a general rule I don’t like trebles, singles give a stronger hook hold. I’ve not yet tried the 2oz Cabo Killer
Unfortunately I’ve not used them yet, so no. However the red version might look better from a fish’ point of view. When I bought these 2 I didn’t have the option of the chrome version, idve liked one of those!
I'll pick up a few at his shop when we get down there. Many thanks for the review....!!

@@erbeltran2 I mention 3/0 raptor z hooks in my comment above. Sorry, don’t know what you mean by “x”?

Do you have a preferred color?
