    It's a gold dot. It's a gold dot specifically designed for humans and fleshy creatures. Other than a federal fusion, which I'd say is a gold dot, there are no better fused lead core projectiles out here that can withstand impacts at high velocities, stay together, and expand reliably like these projectiles. Gold dot is the golden standard!..... Love them, and I'd bet your life on them!.. lol

    • @AlaskanBallistics

      They're good for sure.

    • @AlaskanBallistics

      Accubond doesn't open up at velocities below 2200 like a copper bullet. But terminal ascent is great.

    • @benjaminbrown1179
      @benjaminbrown1179 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Paul I've loaded accubonds in 6.5 swede, 270, and 300 win. Always drive that bullet through bone and you'll get reliable expansion and terminal performance. You miss the shoulder and it's pencil holes at longer ranges. Love the pill though. Put a gold dot rifle round anywhere and you have performance.

    What you have to remember is that speer Gold dot rifle ammo is designed to go through things like car windshields and home windows and still get an accurate hit on the bad guy. My point is for hunting, it will work extremely well. If you are concerned with over penetration in a defensive situation, a rifle is not a good choice anyway.

    • @AlaskanBallistics
      @AlaskanBallistics  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are some .308 loads that are decent about not over penetrating. 110gr vmax for example.

  • @CircleBrewery
    @CircleBrewery ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hand loaded the 168 grain version and am impressed with the accuracy and how it held together after being captured in sand. I have no true velocity. I like the gold dot round 😊

    Not bad at all. .308 is a bit heavy for interior home defense. Good round for defending your property from a distance.

    So are the Gold Dot and the Fusion really the exact same bullet design and process? With both Speer and Federal being sister companies I wouldn't be surprised if they were made in the Speer factory in Idaho for both brands. Technology sharing is an absolute given across Speer, Federal, and now Remington. They are no longer competitors.

  • @johnnorman7708
    @johnnorman7708 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With the Fusion and Gold Dot bullets getting good reviews, I am hoping to duplicate .223 Fusion by using the Gold Dot Bullets. Trying to throw the heaviest bullet the 1:14 will stabilize. So far, the old Hornady Interlock 60 grain is grouping well. Trying to make a .223 into a deer and coyote rifle with a single load and try to load up 300 of them by next season.

It's gonna be a deer rifle though as is. Bet this thing hasn't actually seen 500 rounds in 50 years.
