In general, most people have very short memories. And some of the people responsible for this decision may not have even been born when Luby's happened.
The US Constitution says "The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." If local governments have the right to impose gun laws, that means local governments can ignore higher authorities. By government, I mean ANY entity responsible for an area of ground or facility. By this logic, then I, as a home owner, have the authority to override anything about the government I want on my private land... Think about the precedent this sets...

Just being Ex Police does not mean you can carry a gun. It’s retired Law Enforcement, however, you have several requirements to be allowed to carry a gun. Basically you have to still be a cop but now you don’t work full time. Almost like being a reservist, and I say almost. Also retired law enforcement know, or should know, the laws, where military personnel generally just know how to use a firearm.
Very hypocritical of them considering I have attended numerous gun shows and home/garden shows at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. So, no more going on Indiana State Fairground property for me, for any event.
I quit going when they stopped making it be a state fair and made into a carnival! Barely any animals no tractors no steam engines and no Quakers! Nothing but rides! I boycotted the Indiana state fair for 8 years!
it's amazing...when you disarm legal law-abiding citizens violent criminals who don't care about laws in the first place always show up to thank everyone in person.
That's a big punishment asking a citizen to be responsible and act like a part of modern society. When they teach school children about their rights they never mention the responsibilities do they?
South Dallas and the fairgrounds specifically are forbidden for all of my children and my wife as well. Hell I don’t even drive through there. Everyone in Dallas knows how dangerous that area is.
And I still don't know why they have live music with big acts over at dos Equis pavilion when people barely want to drive close to fair park. When I was little, it was trashy and it has never gotten better.
No it is not! Do you understand the actually meaning of discrimination? And what is and is not illegal? Where in the world are you getting this mess from? This can be another reason why guns are banned. Because some people don't have brains!
I don't like the rule, everyone should be able to carry. But please, your average retired cop has more training and experience with a firearm than your average citizen. Not saying civilians cant shoot, they absolutely can and competition proves it....but how many "pros" are walking around in there vs lawmen who carried a gun their whole life and can make rational decisions when called upon vs your normal civilian. Rarely is someone going to grab your car as you are driving it and run it into a crowd of people. An unstable person can get a gun from a person and shoot at them. This happened to me and my family. A normal person who looked like they could handle a gun, had his gun taken from him, and the crazy person shot at me and my family. It was horrifying. So, having lots of people carry guns gives people, who shouldn’t have them and wouldn’t normally have them, access to those guns. I never thought it would happen to me. I am a gun owner and believe in gun rights. But going to a conceal carry class doesn’t teach you how to use your gun in a busy dangerous situation.
@StargardenCottage Your personal experience of someone grabbing a gun from a gun holder never happens. The odds of that are one in more than a million and it cannot be used to understand how things generally go down. Or what should be done. @@Matthew_Loutner Gangs will always exist. But I agree they should have swept the entire neighborhood after that incident and forcefully apply the law. However, the fair grounds are massive. Yet I don’t think they patrol the likely blind spots. I’m sure the locals know where to sneak in, or smuggle things in.
@EndofCamelot When I was in high school the word gang was basically non-existent. It was used for a criminal gang, such as Al Capone and his gang or a gang of outlaws. There were no gangs of teenagers or young men.
@@Matthew_Loutner That’s really wonderful. Perhaps not in the area you grew up in or the news reports you saw. Maybe in those days they were called something else. However, even in New York in the 60s and 70s you had Irish gangs. A lot of “gangs” were organized by crime syndicates. Lucky Luciano and Myer Lansky were both in a gang in their youth. In Los Angels, gangs go as far back as the 1920s, which were more like “clubs” from certain neighborhoods. In New York, gangs were organized around labor and union scrapping. Perhaps those gangs were more disciplined and honored certain behavior. When drugs came into the equation everything and everyone changed. Perhaps the theory of the gang is lasting, but the people have changed its practice.
The Bud Light debacle showed how effective boycotting can be. Send them a message by not going. Better yet, throw your support to your local county fairs.
