    torinoguy you should let everyone know to make sure that the subframe should be held up with some bungee-cord to make sure that they don't damage the steering esp which controls things such as the powersteering.

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +h22sparkle the whole subframe lowers out, it doesnt need to be held up. the only thing that needs to be held up is the engine

  • @michaelhodges452
    @michaelhodges452 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did the work on it and rolled out the subframe it out with a dolly from harbor freight

  • @Devstatham

    No disrespect but I would have had the flywheel resurfaced or replaced along with the pilot bearing .. At my old job we had a fleet of trucks we would change out clutches but never had flywheels resurfaced , a year later we where swapping them out , some lasted a good while , some didn't ...it was a lesson I learned the hard way ... It's just better to prevent premature clutch disc wear , less work down the road , clutch will last much longer .

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Devstatham Well that would be up to the inspection of the installer. I did replace the pilot bearing when i did this job, but the flywheel i didn't because it showed no signs of wear or pitting.

    Couldn't quite see as I am watching on a mobile (several times, btw) but what did you use the ropes for? And what else have you used a second jack for?

  • @h22sparkle

    hey dude what is the torque specs on the clutch bolts

  • @kote_ScudRunneR
    @kote_ScudRunneR 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you explain how you got the sub frame out after it was unbolted and dropped. You had the engine jacked up, but how did you slide the sub frame out past the jack cause it would sit in the middle of it. Also, the drive axle is connected to the engine mount in the bottom back? Thanks

    • @kote_ScudRunneR
      @kote_ScudRunneR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Koty Stoddard Or did you just use the jack to stabilize the engine until the subframe was ready to come out and then you put the jack back under the engine to keep it stable when you took the transmission out?

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Koty Stoddard so at 10:42 you can see that I have a rope going from the transmission tabs to the top of my garage to hold it up when I took out the jack and subframe. then once the subframe was out I put the jack back

    • @kote_ScudRunneR
      @kote_ScudRunneR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Torinoguy is it necessary to use the rope if the transmission mount is still in place when you remove the sub frame? Doing this out doors and thinking I need a engine crane

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Koty Stoddard if the transmission mount is still in place then it's not necessary

    • @kote_ScudRunneR
      @kote_ScudRunneR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Torinoguy and that's being able to take that engine mount out that's on the sub frame and the drive axle runs through?

  • @h22sparkle
    @h22sparkle 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    torinoguy I finished my taking out my clutch it was the clutch if you want to see what went on let me know. btw I got a question for you who sells a transmission mount for a decent price because I ruined mine because it didn't want to come out.

    • @torinoguy7472

  • @Chrondotron

    How did you get the subframe past the jacks supporting engine and transmission after dropping it?

    • @h22sparkle
      @h22sparkle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      after unbolting everything use a dolly from harbor freight to slide everything out

  • @jpcintron95
    @jpcintron95 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What tool did you use to remove the shift linkage? I tried using a wrench but it doesn't really catch the bolt.

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jean Paul Cintron I used a regular socket with an extension

    Hey torinoguy I got a question What are the symptopms of bad chifter cables. I seem to have an issue while my car is off I cant get into gear and if the car is off I have slightly problems even sometimes trying to get into gear.

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +h22sparkle I dont know what you mean by Shifter Cables. Do you mean shift linkage? or Clutch cable?

      @torinoguy7472  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that brotha, but to me it sound like the synchros in the trans are going bad, but it could just be a bad clutch so drop the trans and look at the condition of the clutch plate

    Hey bud, so I Have a 2003 honda civic si hatchback and my throw bearing has just started acting up. Obvs, I will be replacing clutch and other components, but is this si a good reference to my si to use when I replace it myself? (with the help of some man power haha)

    • @xilene4974
      @xilene4974 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tara Rosecrans i dont know if youve replaced it yet, but no. k20's are crammed engines, older hondas dont take near as much stuff to work on. lol shouldnt be but a one day job for you

      Haha thanks man, and at the time I said that was pre-clutch change so I had been pissed off with rough shifting for a while, afterwards I went back to loving her again...before I sold her...

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's a tough job, but you're looking at about $2,000 at a shop to do it

    • @mattnelson19456
      @mattnelson19456 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Torinoguy My buddy said he'd do it for $350 so that's probably my best bet. Thanks!

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mattnelson19456 Hell yeah man, if he does it for $350 youre getting a steal. Because there is no doubt it will take longer than 4 hours, so less than $100/hr is ridiculous for this job.

  • @jessedeese9119

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It held up great while I still had it for about 6 months after the install, then I sold it. I personally wouldn't choose to use and XTD clutch but I knew I was selling it so I went with what was cheap

    • @torinoguy7472
      @torinoguy7472  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes having a garage made it easier but I didn't use a single air tool for this video, I never use airtools unless I'm unbolting lug nuts, you can't get a feel with air tools. but with the use of a few javks, you could still do it without a garage
