    For others preparing to do their clutches on R18 8th gen (Si or non si) you don't need to pull the big 32mm axle nuts. None of the 2 CV axles need to separate from the wheel hubs. Just the intermediate as the uploader stated. Once you're ready just pop the inboard side of the CV axles from the differential/tranny. Have a drip pan to catch the fluid that seeps from the shaft seals. Now... Because the lower control arms, stab bar and stab links drop with the sub frame as one assembly, the wheel assembly can swing out freely, giving the clearance to pop the CVs from the transmissions differential side. Use bungees or wire to support the CV shafts horizontally. They just chill there still in the wheel hubs.

      I do not, the clutch was done last year by honda when my old trans was rebuilt, I'm sure you could find a thread on 8thcivic with the specs though

    Dropping the tranny out of my 07 Civic EX coupe, this is not fun. Got the transmission tower mount out by the ecu, everything on top of the transmission (air intake box, shifter cables, wiring harness, master cylinder) some differences between the Si set up but watching to see how you lowered the transmission. No cherry picker for me so I’m trying to just lower the driver side of the sub frame to get the transmission out

  • @h22sparkle
    @h22sparkle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    so are you going to put the transmission in yourself with the cherry picker or the transmission jack? I found the transmission jack to be good too but I bet a cherry picker would be okay with holding the weight up.

    Is this the car with the defective transmission that has problems with the 3rd gear?

  • @TheGerbsteve
    @TheGerbsteve 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just removed mine to replace my clutch. Question, if my car is on, i was locked out of all my gears. Is this the clutch or tranny? Think I'm going to rebuild my tranny just to be safe.

    • @NAUS2K
      @NAUS2K  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am confused with your question.., but if your locked out of gears that's your trans not your clutch

    • @TheGerbsteve
      @TheGerbsteve 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NAUS when my car is on*. After taking my clutch out, I noticed that the clutch is worn out. A piece of metal broke off of my clutch disc. Also, my throw out barring was all caked in dried up grease. And my Tranny shifts fine, it's just the third gear is notchy here and there. A few people told me its my clutch, but just to be safe, I'm going to get my transmission rebuilt or maybe buy a reman. Comes down to price.

    The car has electrical steering and you have to remove the bolt from the steering column to get everything off

    • @NAUS2K
      @NAUS2K  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it has electrical steering, did you watch the whole video though?? I dont have to remove that bolt because the steering rack never drops at all. I only remove the bolts that hold it to the subframe, the steering rack stays suspended with straps. It is never removed.

    • @h22sparkle
      @h22sparkle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      this was your first time? its nice I like how you held up the rack with the straps though. I didn't have enough room or time. but hey learn something new. I cant believe that Honda made it like this the older cars were much simpler. and didn't have half all that mess.
