Super Power Soap goes international! At the end of an essential trip to Ghana, West Africa in December, I carved out a morning to take a soap making class with a local instructor. This class was taught by Justice Annan who runs "Soap Making Training by Creators Foundation-Ghana".
Here is his website if you are traveling to Accra, Ghana, West Africa and want to take a class: / soaptrainingghana
Alata Samina is a common type of soap in Ghana. However, this version in the video is transparent - very much like a thick soap gel or paste. Enjoy the highlights of this experience and look out for a few more videos from this workshop. Unfortunately, I unknowingly didn't capture sound and had to do voiceovers but you can still see the basic parts of the process.
    Ingredients:
    •Potassium Hydroxide (KOH)
    •Water
    •Oil
    •Fragrance
    •Colorants
    Steps:
    1. Mix Water and KOH
    2. Heat oils on propane cooktop
    3. Adding KOH/water solution to heated oils
    4. Stick blend mixture to trace
    5. Allow mixture to bubble over and cook
    6. Mix soap and continue heating soap until it turns clear
    7. Add colors and fragrances (optional)
As a knowledgeable soap maker and soap making teacher, I got so much out of Justice's class. I had a great time expanding my knowledge about soap making practices, learning technical aspects about how soap is made, and learned about Ghana's local soap making ingredients and unique methods. This class is well suited for beginners and advanced soap makers.

Why soapmaking? Soap making brings me so much joy. It’s my happy place. I started making soap in 2014 and haven’t stopped since. Creating each batch of soap is an opportunity to make something unique, beautiful, and useful. I hope to spark the joy of soap making in your life.

You can pour the soap into an appropriate cup of your choosing! Plastic or lined paper will work.

How do u desolve this pls? With water or what pls

    • @superpowersoap
      @superpowersoap  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, you would dissolve the potassium hydroxide in distilled water.
You'd also dissolve the soap paste in distilled water and use a preservative so that it does not grow bacteria.
