I have tried an hours and at least 12 times to reprogram my Chamberlain but I believe some of the numbers after six years and I've tried to reprogram it so I guess I'll end up buying one online at your suggestion so thank you so much
Changed the batteries and worked for me. I had to reprogram after changing the batteries though and the door had to be closed. It didn't work initially when I tried reprogram while the door is open. Just a side note. Really appreciate the tip and that definitely saved me some money.
Hey, glad you were able to get this fixed without much expense! That is a good tip about the door being closed when reprogramming. Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you so so much!! It needed a battery and I had no idea!! We just moved in and the owner had no clue as to how it worked so your tip helped immensely!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Dude! I'ved watched no less than some 10-15 videos regarding "garage door keypad issues" and your vid just helped solve my issue,...sort of! I've tried replacing the battery,...some 3 times,...I even extended the antenna wire (as done on another TH-cam channel),...to changing the code no less than 5-6 times! So, I just tried what you just showed,...that is, "Press the individual numbers to see if the keypad lights up"! After doing this,...I discovered that no less than 4 of the numbers on the keypad are bad. Some wouldn't like up,...and some would slightly light up or double flash! I'm sure this "double flash" registers as if the number was pressed twice. So, I isolated 4 numbers that only light up once and also lit up every press of the numbers. I made a new code and the garage door opens every single time,...and get this,...I only have to lightly "press" the number! Essentially, it looks like the pad got some heavy use over it's lifetime! Now for the no so good part! After trying to resolve this issue,...for some time,...research which Keypad to buy, I placed my order on Amazon about one hour prior to viewing your video! Oh well, I can always keep this in my memory bank!
Another thing not mentioned but which worked for me was to do the following. It's a little bit of a pain but it could work for you. The house we bought in 2012 had a Domino keypad unit. The house had been unoccupied for a couple of years and I had no idea how to use the opener so we didn't use it for ten years. When I finally got a notion to get it working, I tried everything, including replacing the batteries which, to my amazement, still had enough juice to make the numbers light up when I pushed them. I took the keypad off the door frame, pried open the back which had six screws, and exposed the green computer board. Each number on the number pad has a little rubber or silicone dot that is supposed to contact a little square of circuitry on the circuit board when you press the number. Even though the unit was sealed, apparently it is possible for dust or moisture to still get in there and cause the number not to work when you press it. I took a q-tip and some alcohol (neither of which will do any harm to anything on the circuit board) and cleaned off each of the squares, including "ENTER" and all of the rubber dots. Voila! The unit worked just fine.
I bought a new keypad recently and to my surprise, I found it used battery’s!!! I don’t recall ever changing the batteries on my old ones. My wife thinks we did at least once over the 30yrs since having them installed. Either way, long battery life! 😂😂😂
Before I start, here are the devices I am having trouble with: Garage door opener model: 3024H Older keypad model: ACSD1G New keypad model: GK Okay, so my keypad was working fine. I unplugged my genie garage door opener (intellig 1000) to install new sensors. I plugged it back in, set the limits, and even paired my intellicode 2 remote. Everything was going great, until I had to pair my keypad. I reset the keypad to factory settings (for me you hold down program, 6, and the up/down button) and set my pin. I put my garage door opener into pairing mode, and the longer light would flash purple for about 30 seconds. The smaller light would briefly flash blue (while the purple light was still flashing aka while I was still in pairing mode) when I pressed the up/down button after entering my pin, indicating that it is picking up a signal but not pairing. But the long indicator light would still just flash. It is supposed to turn steady once it pairs. I replaced the battery, reset the factory settings many times, tried using the default 357 as my pin to pair, tried it with the door closed, with the door open, everything. I unplugged my garage door opener a lot, and then had to reset the limits a lot, and I even cleared paired remotes and keypads from the garage door openers memory. It would still let me pair remotes, but not the keypad. I even went and got a newer model keypad, model GK. I did everything I just mentioned all over again with this one, and it didn’t work. The GK has the capability to switch from series 1 mode to series 2 mode, so I tried pairing it on both modes multiple times, and it still didn’t work. Genie support has been difficult and has been telling me to do the exact same thing I’ve been doing. Oh and I meant to say, when it is not in pair mode, if I press the keypads, the small round light will rapidly flash purple, indicating that it is picking up the signal my keypad is putting out, but not accepting it because it’s not paired. I have been working on this for over a week now. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this so I can use (at least one of) my keypad(s)?
I changed the battery twice and it didn't work. I never thought about changing my pass due to numbers being worn out. I'll try your suggestions. Either way am sure to save$$$. Thanks for the tutorial 👍
Hey Diana, I hope changing the passcode works for you! But you are absolutely right, you will save a ton of money by not having to call out a garage repair man. Good luck and thank you for the feedback!
I’ve tried changing the passcode. I enter the current code and press # and it flashes very fast and for a long time. I then try to enter a new code but it continues to flash. Any ideas?
I have a Genie brand that suddenly quit. I changed the battery. But the keypad button lights do not all work some light but not all. It’s 20 years old. New Pad?
You ever seen a new car stop the keypad from working? With the new SUV out of the garage it works, when the car is in there I can't get it to work. Tried reprogramming numbers and batteries. Is there a way to extend the signal wire at the back of the opener?
I was trying to program a new universal keypad and had already attached it to side of doorway. I cud not get it to sync. I tried to remove it but cud not get one screw out. I tried again today with no luck.now my old remotes wont open the door. I am lockrd out! Please help.
I’m assuming this is a detached garage. Without a garage remote or window to go through, then yes probably locked out. If keypad just needs a battery it may work.

My garage door opener will open and close my rear garage door using the keypad, it will not open the front garage door, but if front garage door is open, I can close with keypad. Any idea what this might mean.
Yeah that is definitely the one button you don't want it to be. Unfortunately since it gets pressed every time the keypad is used, it is just as likely to go bad as the numbers. Well the one positive note is that at least you know once it is replaced it will be fixed and it will be a lot less than if a garage door service came to diagnose and fix it for you.

I have a very unusual situation - the garage door opens and close as expected from the inside component, but when I use the keypad - it opens only 3 inches ?!? any ideas?
That is very odd. Only thing I can think of is that the enter button on the keypad might be getting stuck after successfully entering the code and it is sending the signal twice to the door.
1 minute and 40 seconds talking about the symptoms and replacement of a battery, which is the most common issue out of a 7 minute video is not the majority of the video.
Does the opener lights blink when you attempt to program it? How are you programming it? Since the one in the video is a linear keypad, it might not work the same as yours (if yours is not a Linear keypad).
When i enter the keypad code the light attached to garage opener assembly turns on and off but the garage door wont open. It would open with remote or wall switch. What to do ?
Hey that is a hard one to diagnose. I would start by trying to relearn the keypad to the garage door. If that doesnt work, I have seen where there can be interference with the signal from light bulbs you may have installed. LEDs and CFL bulbs can emit a radio frequency that can sometimes cause issues with the keypad being able to communicate with the door. Hope these help!
Garage door keypad when garage door is closed doesn't work. Everything works fine when opened from the inside. I replaced the battery and changed the pin as usual. Still nothing.
Should be a compartment on the keypad, usually towards the bottom like the one in video. Sometimes there are screws that need to be removed to get the cover off.
