If I commissioned a project like this, with this much time and effort, and the artist STILL made time to make me something super special, that thing being sourced from leftovers from the actual project...that’s so meaningful man. That would mean a lot to me and I hope your clients have appreciated as much as they should.

I am amazed with your sculpting capabilities. I once tried to carve a hand showing "thumbs up". Its on my channel. I was carving it for a long time and I couldn't believe how hard is to carve out "the right things" to make it look lifelike. I know exactly how a hand should look like, but seeing it in a piece of wood is a whole another thing. Then grabbing a dremel and start shaving off everything that is not a hand is a pure witchcraft! But it turned out quite nice, taking into the account my abilities.

Very inspiring. My best friend "the whale" had conniptions, seeing the making of a whale sculpture that ended up with curved wooden "ribs". Too close to memories of old wooden whaling boats and all that, but I told him it was a symbol of the whales overcoming the old technology, and I think he's fine now.
Given the price of Epoxy, I might have gone for some sort of central wooden core, with the wood radiating out at different lengths, guided by a bent wire armature, and then building a compound curve female mould out of rings of plaster or cheap poly resin , painted with release coatings.
Looks like I will need to do my own video and put my ideas where my mouth is :-)

Congratulations on a magnificent sculpture. Since I was a kid I have wanted to make large sculptures but have never tried, I never thought about using a chain saw on resin so I might give it a try and finally make a sculpture. Never too late to start I guess. I make trays and coasters out of resin so I know how to use it but I have never made anything from wood.

Beautiful work! I love the use of penetrating epoxy to suppress bubbles long before the bulk pour!
Another way to address your epoxy wastage challenge would be to build your normal mold, and carve or build up displacement blocks to fill in the bulk of the wastage areas. Foam or wood can be used, just make sure they're well secured. The advantage to this is that you don't have to worry about the mold failing catastrophically and spilling all your epoxy out. Both methods are used in various types of casting. What you did is similar to a custom mold tool for laying up composites. Using plugs to fill voids is used in metal sand castings when a void needs to be cast in the middle of a part.

First off, incredible work as always.
Second, I think I might be alone in this but I find sanding to be very therapeutic.
I use a full face PAPR mask, some good noise cancelling headphones with an audiobook and just let myself get lost in the work.
Watching a piece slowly transform from a rough carve to polished finish is probably my favorite part of the process.

We live in a world which has turned its back on the God of truth, and so it has a hatred for the truth, including true beauty. It's very sad, because we are heading for destruction!!! ;( We must turn from our rebelliousness against his laws, and cry out to him to have mercy on us because of Christ's sacrifice to pay the punishment for the sins of those who would put their trust in him. If we do this, he promises to hear us and forgive all of our sins and adopt us as one of his own children who will be taken to Heaven at our death. We must then spread this message of hope to our perishing fellow-men, in the hope that they will listen and turn from their evil ways and live. Please do this, my friend!!! Jonathan

Then go do it. And they aren’t creating original pieces of art like this in Mexico. They copy creative people like this guy but people don’t like uncreative lazy copycats. There’s nothing special about that. People want a piece of art featured on his channel from a guy building sculptures all over the world. One of the absolute most low IQ takes about things like this is the “just get me a piece of paper and I’ll do it for a fraction of the cost”. Do you not understand people are paying for the name? His name has value for collectors.
People always say that “man i could go to the 3rd world and get that for a fraction of the cost”. It’s cheaper because they are always behind. It takes more money and time to actually create things that no one else has made. It’s cheaper and doesn’t take as long to copy stuff.
