Absolutely. The laundry room as well. I was glad to see they put up the gate outside the bedrooms. Now he only has access to the two bedrooms & the bathroom at night. This may give Danielle some extra sleep time & hopefully will keep Ed safer at night. Less wandering equals less chance of falling or getting hurt, hopefully. It’s a real learning experience.

Reminds me of an interaction I had with a toddler who discovered the buttons on my dishwasher. Just kept pushing them because they lit up and made sounds. 😂
Maybe put a higher lock on the door that could maybe keep him from getting in there. Hopefully you'll be able to get those sliding doors to help keep him from escaping and wondering through the house in the middle of the night. You do an amazing job getting him to go back to his room.
A friend did that for her hubby, deep in dementia, he’d hear the alarm go off whichever room he went in, it’d scare him out but he’d only back off, and then re-enter. Countless times until she was exhausted and had them removed. He was living here in Georgia but had forgotten his life here totally and believed he was in New York looking for the subway. I’m so glad Dr Ed still recognizes his family💕
with age it happens but I see lot of elderly at chiropractor for this and in my PT . there are stretches and daily exercise that can improve mobility and posture. I'm sure family has enough to do but I have a therapist come twice a week for one hour my mom. It helps with balance and posture and gives me some me time. I observe some so we can do it each day at least 10-15 min morning and night

And when I saw him try to get it, I laughed and said, Grandpa Dennis that's not yours and if you break it, you're paying for it. Danielle, I just have to give you a big virtual hug. I went through this with my father-in-law three days a week. Please be careful of your health. Just those three days about took me down. Ed is getting much more fragile just like Buddy did. Walked that same way with his head laid over to the side. Not only was it physically exhausting, but to watch the man I had known for so many years decline like he did was just too emotional. I can tell that you are one tough cookie though. As hard as it is, one day you will look back on these days and be thankful you were able to do it.
What I love about this is he was actually trying to watch a movie and trying to figure out how to get it playing. So he had the right idea just didn’t know how to mentally work it out. I’m the same way with my dam phone.🤦🏽♀️

They hear him get up and go to the bathroom. If he doesn’t return to his bedroom next to theirs one of them goes out and hunts him down. They don’t want a bed alarm because he is up to the bathroom so much it would constantly be going off.

He has had back surgery about 10-12 years ago. He is 92, so that is not uncommon as people age to be stopped over.
