Love this video i have a 1997 Johnson 150 that will crank but won't start. It started yesterday but not today it looks like it does not have spark i changed the spark plugs today but nothing
Great job buddy. Just one thing, that electric primer is not a "pump", it is only a valve. Not trying to criticize your english, which is great by the way, just want to clarify. So, when starting a cold engine, you must pump up the primer bulb first to develop pressure to flow through the electric primer or you will have to crank the engine until the fuel/oil pump develops enough pressure.
Hello Rich do you know if your engine is carb or injection? anyway is good to check your battery charge, gasoline status and hoses before put it on the water and please don't forget to put the drain plug in the boat before back in up in the boat ramp lol . i made a vide a little bit ago of things that i recommend to check before use the boat. thanks for watching . th-cam.com/video/B2mOwLh18U4/w-d-xo.html
I have a used 1996 johnson 6hp. Struggles to start cold. In order to start it when cold I spray a little starter fluid in the air intake. I know that this is a common problem with my specific engine. When it is warm it starts first pull. Apart from the cold start issue it runs perfectly. What exactly is the problem?
If you have a two-stroke motor and you're using starting fluid to fire it up the first time there is no oil in that starting fluid You're basically running the motor without any oil. Not a great idea
Yes mine does it when I turn the key on like normal... then as soon as motor starts it will do it again... is this normal ? It does the same like yours in the video when you start your motor
I took those nipples of and they're clean with no clogging, a few years back I did find the hoses from the solenoid dry rotted and cracked. I use good gas and regularly seafoam everything including additives to the fuel tank when filling up, I'd have a lot more free time if the boat would just sink one day. Thanks and have a good day bro.
@@thesmallboatrepairchannel9173 thanks so much for replying. After watching your video I fixed my hard start problem. In the process I replaced everything. Primer solenoid, fuel pump. Rebuilt the carburetors and ignition key to operate the gas primer. The original problem was that at 4000 rpm the engine bogged down
In the process the starter broke the flywheel cover so I had to takeoff the flywheel cover, replace the solenoid and the starter, which fix the problem but then when I put everything back together, it started running really rough so I assume that the timing is bad I replaced the timingI replaced the stater I replaced the power pack. I replaced everything in the engine and is still doing the same thing. I desperately need your help.
Is a 2004 I checked the compression was about 110 on each cylinder compression was fine. The engine starts like a champ but it’s still at idle turns off and fast full throttle it slows down so that’s why I assume it’s the time there’s nothing else I can replace I even replace the coils the plugs even ran fresh gas from a separate fuel tank.

Also check the Vapor seperator float seating & if not rubbing the inside of chamber

That is the pulse limiter for the vacuum to the fuel pump.Just replace them.
Hello .. No that’s the inlet for the choke pump. That spray fuel direct yo the cylinders for cold starting
I just bought a boat with a 2005 Johnson 2 stroke 115 hp. What are some things I should double check before I put it in the water? Thanks

As you can see in the video the problem is the fitting that injects fuel to the engine when you press the choke

The system check alarm beep ..should that beep twice on start like the video or just once then motor starts ?
It normally beep every time the power gets to the tachometer. By turning the key on or turning the key to start position…

@@husseinhammoud-br7nr that’s completely normal
Ok thanks mate...I thought it was an indication something is wrong but clearly I'm wrong , have u heard that ?
I have a 112 hp Johnson and I’m having a hard time getting my motor to start when is cold.
hello what's the year of the engine
Thank you for the video and the positive comments @donk499
Helo,
My boat starts, but is shakes a lot, and some times it cuts off.
Any idea on where to start?
Thanks in advance

I have the same motor and I'm trying this tomorrow i know its going to work since I've tried everything else.
Let me know thanks

@@deanlockamy2087 ok have you try your choke with the hoses disconnected to see if it works! It should spray fuel when you press it in your console
Looks like you are in Boynton Beach. I have the same engine as in this video. Do you do work locally? I need my timing set.
hello brother im in Boca. what make you think that you have to set the timing?

Great video
On a 1998 -115 HP Evinrude , do I push and hold the key in or do I pump it several times ?
Push and hold
where is the fuse located?
