      PROPER GARAGE! Absolutely,most M5 owners prefer mufflers instead deleted for being more desirable and valuable ..

    Would definitely recommend a proper dyno tune after going with the headers. Will see a nice reasonable bump in power and keep it from running lean at higher rpm.

    • @npharkes
      @npharkes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would it run lean at high rpm with the headers?

    Nice Video! Hey, I noticed that your "stock" exhaust was already missing the rear mufflers. That had to make a huge difference in the sound of the car. It would have been nice to get a before and after clip with the sound, some kind of objective db comparison and maybe an understanding of what horsepower, if any, the SS exhaust added. I have two of these E39 M5s in my collection and am in the process of returning the exhaust in one of them (an M5t project car) back to stock because it is too loud in the neighborhood and has too much drone at highway speeds. Please let us know your thoughts on drone with the SS setup. (I could not tell if you had center resonators or just the X-pipes....) Thanks for sharing!

    Great video!!! Just installed SS manifold, sport cat, xpipe and race mufflers on my ‘01 E39 M5. It has cutouts too. Similar to your car. I am getting two fault codes: Catalytic converter conversion bank 1 and bank 2. The vehicle is essentially thinking that the catalytic converter for cylinders 1-4 and cylinders 5-8 are not working properly. Even though there are cats on the car, it's not liking what the post-cat O2 sensors are reading, regarding the catalytic converters changing harmful gasses to non harmful. Did this happen to you? Thinking DME may need some type of programming to eliminate these fault codes. Any insights would be super helpful. Thanks Corey!!

    Wait... aluminum bolts? Nobody makes aluminum bolts, they would snap off with a wrench because it's only 1/3 the strength of steel. Are you sure they aren't Stainless bolts? (non-magnetic stainless)

    Corey, great video! There’s a group buy at the M5 board now. So I’m educating myself and your video is very helpful, question on the SS header collector May sits lower than stock so do you think the stock bottom cover tray will be able to go back as I understand you have a Turner skid plate instead. Thanks!

    • @m3blackshadow
      @m3blackshadow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It should cover it no problem. It doesn’t cover the exhaust at all or it would melt so there’s plenty of clearance. It does sit a little lower than stock but not by much. It would only be a problem if your car is slammed.

    Hey, did you have to use any heat on the manifold nuts to get them off? Did you replace the manifold gaskets/nuts when installing the headers?
    I'm getting ready to do the same install, except I went catless. How was the driver's side?
    You lifted the engine by the mount and was able to get to the bolts?
    People complain that the passenger's side header hangs lower then driver's, how did yours turn out?
    I'm actually doing diff and subframe bushings, and SS headers/catless pipes. I already have an marketer cat back exhaust.

      @m3blackshadow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was fortunate and didn't have to use any heat on the nuts. I just sprayed them with PB Blaster the day before I worked on it. I did install new gaskets. The drivers side was about the same difficulty level as the passenger side once I jacked the engine up a couple inches. However, you can reach all of the nuts on the passenger side from the bottom whereas you need to access the top nuts from the top of the engine on the driver side. The header pipes both do hang kind of low and are currently the lowest hanging thing under the car, but I'm on stock suspension so there's plenty of ground clearance.

      m3blackshadow hey, I have a question for you. How did you get to the nuts on the last cylinder bank by the firewall on the passenger side?
      I’m stuck on the two top ones and one bottom one.
      I’m considering taking the starter out do get more room.

    • @m3blackshadow
      @m3blackshadow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JakubFamily I went to autozone and got little ratcheting wrenches that bend on the end. I also removed the cover to the starter to give extra room but make sure that you unplug the battery or you’ll be in for quite a shock lol

    In the beginning of the video you questioned if you had to remove the sub frame for the install. Was that necessary? How long did it take you to install just the headers?

    Cory,,, question???,,, I have watched a few of your videos and appreciate the content.
    My question?... I’m looking to replace the mufflers ONLY,,, with the super sprint mufflers, Turner has them for sale around $1,300.
    Do you recommend it?... I want a better growl out of the stock , like to hear the engines V-8 notes.
    Your thought?... or should I go with Dinan.thank you in advance, by the way I’m in southern NJ.
    Thanks again.

    • @m3blackshadow
      @m3blackshadow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What’s up brotha! Thanks for watching! Supersprint mufflers are unmatched in quality and performance. The f1 race mufflers are a perfect way to hear a little more of that engine note without being over the top loud. If you want it to be louder, go with a muffler delete. The problem is that with the muffler delete, you’ll be relying on your local muffler shop so fingers crossed they do a good job. If you want a MASSIVE performance gain, Supersprint headers are the only option unless you want to drop like $6k on Einhorn Industries equal length headers. If you want the best of both worlds, you can do what I did and install cutouts. I went with Badlanz HPE. Lots of options out there, so it’s really up to you in terms of what you’re looking for. Supersprint mufflers look great, will last forever, but honestly aren’t very loud up top where you want it to be loud.

    • @ernestolopez6899
      @ernestolopez6899 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      m3blackshadow is it louder than stock?... by how much with super sprint?

    • @m3blackshadow
      @m3blackshadow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ernestolopez6899 it is louder than stock but I didn't just replace the stock mufflers with the supersprint mufflers. I replaced the whole system so I can't compare under the same circumstances. But if the main thing you're going for is a throaty V8 growl with some good noise when you step on the gas, go with a muffler delete. It's not that loud, but if you're sensitive to hearing the exhaust then you might find it loud
