    This is such a great tip. I used it to clean the dryer filter. Sometimes the build up on the filter would get so bad I would have to soak the filter in soapy water then scrub it with a toothbrush. With the micro fiber cloth there was no soaking or scrubbing. The build up wiped write off. Thanks again.

    You are my HERO! I like to sit and look out my windows, whether it’s at my garden and bird bath or just people watching the passers by, but my windows and screens were so dirty it was getting to be difficult. I have some microfiber clothes down in my basement I haven’t even used, so I don’t have to go out and buy anything. Can’t wait to see if it works!
    Ps- do you have any tips for cleaning windows with multiple sliding layers of glass? I’m not sure what they are called so I don’t even know how to google it. These windows were installed to prevent local airport noise, and there’s two layers of glass that can be opened and closed to block out the noise. Despite the major part being designed to tilt inwards for easy cleaning, the outermost panels are hard to get to and collect the most dirt. Thanks!

    Baby wipes work well, too. They work well for windows, screens, plastics, metals, glass, leather... I even use them to clean monitors. Swipe it across a few times, and then come at it with a dry paper towel, or microfiber cloth. It'll pick up everything. Something like a dollar for 100 sheets, and you don't have any rags left to clean up afterwards.

    Apt dwellers moreso due to limited space and only a few windows. If you live in a house with 25 screens you have to streamline the process. Take down all the screens out to the lawn, patio or driveway, hose off using a soft baby bottle brush (find in grocery store) a quick swipe will pull all the lint dirt off. Tap to shake off water. Stack on edge. Don't use soap unless its a kitchen window screen. It's not necessary and will leave spotty residue. stack on edge against something ( side of the garage works good) to allow draining and drying. Takes about 30 mins to take down screens from the inside, upstairs and main floor, 15mins to wash outside. If you have older wooden screens that require a ladder outside to take down, forget it, Leah's way will probably work better.

  • @AnnoulaXeni

    • @annajackson2239
      @annajackson2239 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AnnoulaXeni hosing off wouldn't clean my screens at all. I'm in west Texas where the wind lodges the dirt into the screens. They have to be scrubbed 😩. Simple spraying sounds great though. 😁

      rlund3
      Ack! Unless you have wooden screens with steel mesh never use a pressure washer on screens that use fiberglass mesh and a rubber gasket and spline. The pressure will push the screen fabric out of the splines or stretch the fabric leaving the once taut screen wavy and rippling. Fiberglass screens are stretched perfectly tight on the frame before securing into the channel and the fabric trimmed flush with the frame. Once it's dislodged from the channel or over stretched out, you can't disassemble and re-stretch back into the frame very easily because there is no extra fabric margin to grab onto to hold it in place while you press the gasket back in the channel. Buying new fabric is expensive. My husband made that mistake using a garden hose with a pressure nozzle and lived to regret it.
