I’m hoping I’ll get lucky and find her a mate before it gets too cold, but I’m not sure since the weather has been pretty unpredictable this year. 1:16 Same... My two bunnies passed away and every now and then I'd dream of them, wake up, and get depressed when I realize that it's just a dream... It gets so tiring... I really want a dog, but I think I'm going to wait a decade or two before getting one, so that after he dies, I won't have to wait tooo long before I follow. For now, I catch bugs and make them my pets. I've never seen a praying mantis in person before. They're so beautiful, especially the orchid mantis. It's a shame that they only live for a year... For now, I have an army of firebrats and common silverfish. They always appear in the house from cracks in the walls and stuff. The firebrats are fast, but the common silverfish are relatively slower, so they're fun to watch walking around on my hands. The brats can live up to 5 years and the fish can live up to 8, and that's a pretty good life expectancy for an insect. I keep them all in a petri dish. I just cut out a piece of paper for them and give them a few oats, and they can thrive on just that. I also have a sheet of paper towel in the container with them that I drop a few droplets of water on everyday 'cause they need water to survive, and that's about it. The petri dish helps to keep the towel damp for a while. I clean the dish every once or twice a month. I don't know why more people don't keep them as pets. Probably because of their prehistoric look. They're easy to take care of, they don't smell bad, they don't fly, and they live for years.

The Mantis is the best bug in general, not just for being and awesome Pet, but a species that literally inspired a martial art, and not to mention these things have no natural predators!, these thing if big enough will eat birds!.
@Aiden Williams actually, the males only live for about three months once they reach adult, and the ootheca are laid a little before winter, and they hatch during spring. The male won’t live long enough for the babies to hatch. Edit: also the female usually won’t eat the males head. That was a myth that kinda just became a thing because a few documentaries had the rare sight of it. The females are usually very aggressive, so they will just eat the male instead of mating sometimes.
I’ve had a potato cricket. The other names are Jerusalem, cricket and sand cricket. It is a big bug that lives in Texas. Her name is Sandy and they have a very painful bite. She loves lettuce and carrots. You should get. But be careful.
I love goldfish but most people abuse them as they are the most common pet. They can actually live up to 15 years too. Goldfish CANNOT survive is goldfish bowls as they are too small and generally don't have an air stone or filter which they need as they produce a ton of invisible ammonia and require a lot of air. They are omnivorous but prefer plants. Most can grow to be 12 inches long. There are sooo many different breeds too!

I ended up keeping her in a terrarium temporarily as we had a severe thunderstorm on the way and if she’d been knocked down and fallen so much as a foot I imagine she would’ve died. I’m glad I decided to do that, as not only did the storm end up bringing some golfball sized hail along with the heavy rain, but strong winds as well; lots of downed branches and a few downed trees, as well as so many acorns that probably would’ve felt like hail under the trees. When I went to release the mantis in the morning I found her almost finished laying the biggest Carolina mantis ootheca I’ve ever seen, so even if I can’t guarantee Ipoaf’s hemolymphline continues through Green Bean Casserole, I might be able to start a different line of captive-bred mantises next year.
Update: found GBC a mate tonight! He’s particularly pathetic looking even among male Carolina mantises but I’m sure he has a great personality. It’s what’s on the inside that counts anyways, and I’m sure even a twig like him will have some protein!
@@avanelletheclockfriend2515 I'm so happy to hear that!!! :D I wish you and miss Green Bean Casserole the best of luck!
One time we lived in a house, that I swear to God, was a praying mantis magnet. We had like 5 praying mantises in our hous at once. They where all cool, 4 boys 1 girl. We all know how that ends XD
The girl kills them and does the old hentai maneuver
the girl probably ate all of the males heads
orrrr
the boys fight over the girl and ded
One day we woke up and all the males where ded
My sister used to get insomnia because wild crickets used to come live in her room and their singing kept her up at night so you should probably be glad moonsinger didn't sing

Me: Here’s the name for my mantis Pea Shooter and all crickets are zombies :)
Extra credit right here

The Mantis is the best bug in general, not just for being and awesome Pet, but a species that literally inspired a martial art, and not to mention these things have no natural predators!, these thing if big enough will eat birds!.
Hairless cats actually have hair it’s just really small so no one can really see it unless you look closer... so... u made the right choice
Yea, they are pretty soft.
Tofu: “females are just better”
Me: *remembering after mating they take off the head of the male*
Also me: are u sure about that
Wait what
Eh, the females dont actually do that 99% of the time. Usually they will just eat the male for food or the male will fly away after mating.
Vat 🕷️is skewe
Yay cannibalism
@Aiden Williams actually, the males only live for about three months once they reach adult, and the ootheca are laid a little before winter, and they hatch during spring. The male won’t live long enough for the babies to hatch.
Edit: also the female usually won’t eat the males head. That was a myth that kinda just became a thing because a few documentaries had the rare sight of it. The females are usually very aggressive, so they will just eat the male instead of mating sometimes.

Nice
