An uncle of mine had a centipede once. One of his favorite stories is how one day the centipede managed to escape and after a couple of hours he found it... eating a friggin tarantula it just killed. 20 years later my uncle still wishes he had seen the battle between those two.

It’s probably because JaidenAnimations started her TH-cam channel 2 years before Yong did. JaidenAnimations also animated small shorts for popular TH-camrs (back when her channel was very small and when she rarely uploaded her own videos), which helped her channel quickly gain traction. iHasCupquake (a popular Minecraft TH-camr) asked chose Jaiden to animate several clips from videos she’d created, and eventually those small animations were noticed by more than just Cupquake fans. She also has birds, two conures that most of her viewers love to see or hear about. As a snake owner I can assure you that even we respect centipedes. A lot. The Clint reference absolutely sent me, that was great. Since I started keeping snakes and lizards I always heard that there'll come a time where AT LEAST one escapes, and I was like "Yep. Dreading that day." Since life needs to keep beating me down last month I discovered that one of my desert dwarf geckos somehow escaped her enclosure and has been missing since. #irresponsibleowner, F for Wawa, she'll be remembered. It happens to the best of us. Why won't they stay and accept our love
Stupid story of mine short: i lost an animal without legs or eyes... the longer version of the story: i keep beetle larvaes since half a year, and the temperatures are sinking since its winter, and i wanted to heat their terrarium. but it was way too hot, and one of them somehow opened the terrarium, climbed two centimeters high( without legs!!! ), crawled away from the heat mat, jumped of the shelf, got exhausted and stopped. im so happy he did this, because otherwise i had never noticed that it was too hot and whould have killed all of them. The little heroe is doing great since then and is almost ready to pupate. but he made all of this without legs... i wonder what he will do if he gets his legs and wings.
I had a lot of centipedes, they can climb very high and must have a lock. They are flexible and can squeeze through tight spaces. Centipedes, when burrowing, might not ever come out again. You can leave prey in/in front of the burrow. If it refuses, then it might be melting or dead.
I one day found my hamster in the kitchen: not only he managed to open his cage (I have no clue how, but since then I always put a weight on the cage so he can't open it), but he also managed to travel trought the entire house, sneaking past the cat. And as if it wasn't enough, he did all of it with a broken leg.
Seriously doubt the centiped has strayed too far from your home Young Yong Tales. Odds are good that it's still near your home. It likely has made the area near your home its territory. Hunting insects at will and keeping out of sight most of the time which isn't that tough considering how quickly they can scurry around with those one hundred feet. One sure way to tell if it is still hanging around your home outside or even inside is paying attention at the insect population. If you notice that it's no longer increasing but instead stable or decreasing gradually then the centiped is obviously hunting regularly and efficiently. As for the species as a pet I'd suggest a common house centiped instead. Way less dangerous and easier to obtain. But if you want another one of the same species then good luck keeping it a second time around. New subscriber btw. Like the Jurassic Park references in your video.
@@starlight0313 Well just like centipedes and praying mantises, spiders also provide the same vital role of pest control in most cases. Eyyyyyy I’m a centipede keeper to. Your thoughts on the substrate where right btw, there isn’t much moisture in the desert. If you give a polymorpha moist substrate it will probably get a condition called mycosis. What I do for my desert centipedes is I use sand mixed with clay and only add humidity to one far end of the enclosure. Plus a water dish. If you want good info I recommend a TH-camr called ThePureLife, I know kinda pretentious name but he knows his stuff. Also polymorpha are pretty harmless, even things like scolopendra hero’s bites might not be that bad depending on how you react, I mean it will hurt but like you’ll be fine in the end. Also for a species like that you should use cross ventilation, i just have mine in one of those tall dog food containers, so I can drill holes… cuz it’s plastic.
You did do a really good job for your first centipede though, better than me at least. It’s really hard to find good info on these. Also if you look at that TH-cam channel thepurelife I recommend his scolopendra heros videos, they should have similar care to polymorpha.

Giant tropical centipedes share their territories with tarantulas. Despite it's impressive length, it's a nimble navigator, and some can be highly venomous. I use to have a ball python that lived in a pretty big tank. The top of the tank had pretty firm grasps that made it a pain to pull off, but I thought it was good enough to keep the snake from getting out, including the heat lamp that was weighing the top down with a couple of old dictionary books. But one day, while I was just chilling out on the couch and watching tv, my cat was looking super freaked out by the tv. I was confused and assumed it was looking at some ghosts or shit, like normal cats do. I got up to check behind the coffee table, and sure enough, I saw that little snake just mosey along across the living room right in front of the tv. No idea how he got out, but I rushed him right back into his enclosure. All I know is, snakes are tricksy bastards.
So my theory is that the centipede went on an existential crisis after seeing all the things he missed in his old enclosure so when he burrowed into the substrate he forgot to come out and suffocated then the beetles ate his dead corpse
This does sound probable, the dead smell would attract the beetles to eat it, and that would be easier if the centipede was already moist. Small, broken up bits of dead bug like skin and legs can be easily unnoticed while sifting through substrate unless you look very closely. Though I also believe it would be easy for the centipede to escape as well. If there was any fine dust from the dirt substrate built up along the walls of the enclosure, its little legs can cling to that and walk right up. A tiny little push of the lid and its out. Either way, Im sorry it was lost.
That's very likely, considering those beetles are scavengers in nature. They could've found it mid molt and went to town. I raise centipedes and I never keep anything in their enclosures longer than a few hours. If the pede is hungry, it'll eat them within the first 5 minutes usually or until something brushes up on their feelers.
Hey Young Yong, doing okay considering everything in the world. No worries, creativity is hard to pump out when life gets in the way. Really enjoyed this video. Fascinating to learn about keeping insect pets. Nezuko looks badass.
Grievous is such an awesome name for a centipede. Good choice. But centipedes do have all those legs so if they have some room to push he could've lifted the lid and squirmed his way out.
Pets just have this magic ability to vanish or escape. I have mice, which aren't exactly centipedes, but they get out all the time. Their enclosure is perfectly safe, no way out, at least as far as I can find. But I still wake up at night because one of the little gremlins has escaped and now sits on my pillow. Magic.
I’m a snake guy but I have a profound respect for most insects\arachnids. I own 9 snakes, 5 of which I hatched from eggs and raised with my father. I own a tangerine Honduran milk snake, a bull snake, a pacific gopher, a cape gopher snake (which are very mean but they only hiss and spit. Mine is tame by comparison to the others.) and those two gophers mated and had mixed gopher snakes.
@Carl Aidan Lagto unfortunately, a lot of fear around snakes are very irrational. Snakes are rather gentle creatures. I once made the horrible mistake of falling asleep while I has my Honduran milk snake out. She fell asleep with me under my shirt. We stayed like that for two hour and she woke up when I did.
Sounds like you're doing pretty good! The only inverts I own are the darkling beetles I breed for superworms, so I don't much about keeping bugs, but I would recommend you join an online group for invertebrate pet owners. They could have some great advice for figuring out how to catch Grievous, and probably tips on how to better secure his tank. Also when you do find him, if he ends up getting sick then it'll be really helpful to have a ton of experienced owners giving you advice.
This video is basically reinforcing my intense need to do research for my own pet project. I already have a cat, don't let him in my room as he likes to bite things and I have a shit ton of gaming equipment. So I'm working on setting up an aquarium for my bedroom, my first saltwater tank that I'm gonna use to raise some European Green Crabs. Commonly known as "Rock Crabs" these guys are an invasive species, and EVERYWHERE, so this summer I plan on going to the local aquarium, asking some questions I still need answered, then heading off to the beach and catching some crabs.
How bout the irresponsibility theory, the cage was unlocked and he somehow understood that and leaped or climbed out opening the cages roof before it crawled out whilst the cage lid or roof closed in by falling back onto its originallace. Later being locked when you put more food for the centipede and opened then close it in the process. I mean children are usually sloppy and irresponsible at chores and these things
So many Jurassic park references, brings joy as someone who considers the first 1993, Steven Spielberg directed, Michael Crichton's book inspired film their fav film

That Clint’s reptiles reference is amazing, as an insect owner I always watch that guys videos lmao. Also I’d like to say that tarantulas (I own one) can hide for 1 year without food in their den and be fine, so not always are they escaping.
I'm looking into getting a centipede myself so this is great to know. I mostly keep reptiles now and they are bloody great at hiding and some at trying to escape.
Theory: Grievous called Batman to come rescue him with a flashlight that accidentally fell in the enclosure. Batman arrived and took Grievous to a nearby hotel. He lives there to this day with his wife and kids and they are all one happy family.
No ya the centipede getting out the small opening in the lock is the easiest way for it to get out. I keep reptiles and all my front door enclosures have slots at the top for wires for heat rocks and those have locks but for the longes time the crickets were getting out until I actually closed the lock so the crickets would stop getting out. Also I have the centipedes that you cept in the areas around my house and it herts so much when you get bit by them I will never pick up rocks again with out checking under it and thankfully I did not crush the centipede when I droped the rock.
Centipedes are one of the two bugs that I have an irrational fear of. But specifically house centipedes, because although I don’t think that I’d be particularly thrilled to see a giant desert centipede on my wall, they don’t look as creepy as house centipedes to me despite them being much bigger.
I’ve been a fan of this channel for the past 5 years and now that I’m starting to get more Insects and arachnids these videos are starting to become more educational for me and relatable

So, in Australia we have Freshwater Crayfish called Yabbies, theyre sold as easy to take care of pets for fishtanks, and are pretty fun to have (Mine was called Dr. Zoidberg and he gathered all the coloured pebbles in his tank and put them in a small pile). One night I woke up at 2 am, went to the Kitchen and he was just chilling there. He had managed to climb up to the top of the fishtank, get into the lid, push the lid open, climb out, fell all the way off his cabinet onto the floor, made his way across my room, squeezed UNDER the door, walked across the entire house, and I found him just strolling across the kitchen floor. This aquatic bulky bug managed to ninja his way to the kitchen for snax, and was angry at ME for picking him up off the floor, waving his little claws at me like I was being an asshole.

Any video planned for Nezuko? I'd argue vinegaroons are some of the best arachnids you can own. Don't bite or pinch (despite their clear strength to do both, they seem hard wired to instead only defend themselves with their extremely effective acid that is pretty much harmless to humans), fairly active (be sure to provide a lot of hiding space to keep them from just wandering around constantly), long-lived by invertebrate standards, incredibly fierce looking and willing to eat pretty much anything they can overpower, etc. Very easy to care for as well provided you avoid a couple potential pit falls. I have a couple myself (not housed together mind you, that way lies slaughter) and it'd be neat to see how you'd animate your own beyond the glimpse we got here. I've long admired centipedes, but their usually inactive and reclusive natures and the apparent difficulty of balancing the right amount of ventilation and humidity turned me off of keeping any.
I've only had one escapee and I know it was entirely my fault. I cleaned my snake's enclosure, moistened everything and thought I'd closed the cage. However, there was still an opening, maybe half a centimeter wide. In the morning I noticed my mistake and got nervous. Not that nervous. The enclosure is gigantic for him and he has a lot of places to hide. Chances were he was just hiding. We looked around the room just in case and lo and behold he was hiding beneath a cupboard. He must have gotten past a dog and two cats unnoticed.
Hey Young Yong, I’ve been wanting to try and raise a praying mantis as a pet for some time now so I was just wondering where you actually get all of your pets from
Centipedes are so neat!! But they're also one of the few bugs that i get genuinely nervous around. Whether that is or is not a long-lasting effect of the giant centipede island episode of lost tapes I watched as a kid... who can truly say?
This has probably been answered! Centipedes are renowned to being escape artists if there is a small gap they can get out of (even seemingly locked lids) they will. So don't feel too bad! As you said most other centipede owners said that it has happened at least once to them. Next time make sure it's a more secure tank and there are no gaps. Some people even put things like potted plants on the lid as an extra precaution
If you still want to catch Grievous, just give me a call. I promise you that I can located him (although I can't promise that I'll bring him back alive).
I was once in my room as a kid and getting ready for bed, turned the lights out, turned on some late night cartoons and....there was a HUGE centipede in my room climbing up the wall. I screamed and those aren't native in my area so idk how it got in my house. All I know is my mom panicked and killed it.

I own a tangerine Honduran milk snake, a bull snake, a pacific gopher, a cape gopher snake (which are very mean but they only hiss and spit. Mine is tame by comparison to the others.) and those two gophers mated and had mixed gopher snakes.
That's really cool! :D
@Hawklegs Thanks. 😁
I really want to own one but my mom and dad are terrified of them.but all i can say to them is "but they are so cute" xD
@@wearegogeta9974 all i can say to that is AWW
Great to see you upload again! I hope you’re doing well! Much love and stay safe Mr. Tofu friend.😊
The Anakin reference was neat 👌🏻
This guy is an immediate subscribe for me. Love the storytelling and the animation!! I love animation TH-cam glad I found someone new to watch!!!
That’s what I call a danger noodle.
R/funny
Or a killer gummy worm.
I prefer the term 'danger chain'
Honestly I think we need a story about that whip scorpion(Vinagaroon) you got there, those things are awesome!
So many Jurassic park references! I love ittttt
I love the reference to Clint’s reptiles. His videos are amazing.
Good luck on your quest. My friend who owns a cat does the same thing
It is offical
Get him the net.
Honestly for me it’s great to see another video of his pets
I feel like the content of your videos doesn't matter cause the way you tell stories is super entertaining! Great job :)
So many Jurassic park references, brings joy as someone who considers the first 1993, Steven Spielberg directed, Michael Crichton's book inspired film their fav film
At first, I thought this was just a rip off version of Odds One Out...but Young Yon is pretty awesomesauce. Really, reeeeeeallly loved his bug run on Sword
And did you subscribe his channel?I did in the last video,I mean I didnt even know this channel exist
People like you: *See's a TH-cam Animater that uses a white background and avater smile is same as Odd1sout* ODD1SOUT CLONE!!!
Oh I subscribed so hard
Lmao people gotta think, same/familiar animation style = ripoff
#bringbackskylanders
Fun fact the way you animated grievous looked a lot like the shiny version of centischorch
HES BACK BABY COMING WITH A BANGER WOOOO
That Clint’s reptiles reference is amazing, as an insect owner I always watch that guys videos lmao.
Also I’d like to say that tarantulas (I own one) can hide for 1 year without food in their den and be fine, so not always are they escaping.
All the best movie lines in one video. Love it!
I'm looking into getting a centipede myself so this is great to know. I mostly keep reptiles now and they are bloody great at hiding and some at trying to escape.
Get an acrylic enclosure so it can't get out through any gaps! Centipedes are the best, you can even socialize them!
Now I wanna see your centipede divide it’s arms in half like general grevious.
When you find him:
Yong: Hello there.
Grievous: General Yong… (laughs)
*centipede family appears*
Grievous: You are a bold one.
Exactly what I was thinking!
I love how you showed Clint’s reptiles!!!!!
Hahaha I'm glad you recognized his reference!
My friend - "Your Centipede is really cool"
Me - "Oh no, shes a millipede"
Friend - "Ahhh same thing"
Me - "No. One is your local friendly librarian, the other is death itself"
3:13 Yeah with all due respect, that's gonna be a big, "Nah I'm good." Props to anyone with the courage to have one of those on your arm.
Breaking news: a unknown tofu man loses a centipede (ps can send someone to the shadow realm)
An unknown tofu*

Hold up. Yong is TOFU?! I need the source
The Clint's Reptiles reference tho😂😂😂
glen is literally the scariest name ive ever heard in my life
just find someone named Negan that will take care of Glen
I love how the centipede was drawn as a centiskorch who is like my favorite pokemon in gen 8

Therapist: *insect nezuko doesn’t exist she can’t harm you*
Insect Nezuko: *Hmmmm hmm*
“Grievous” general grievous
Love the Clint’s Reptiles reference 👍
3:52 lol I have a new pet spider ling and I sometimes think she's dead bc she is nocturnal and only moves when it's dark or I am not in the room then I poke her with some tweezers. But I am glad to see another exotic pet owner!
I'm Brazilian and I like your videos, they teach me to speak English
From this video I can believe your uncle probably has the only living Dunkleosteus he sounds like an absolute mad lad
#bringbackskylanders
Been a while where ya been? But still great vid
Theory: HES AN IMAGINARY STANDO POWA DA. Reason he can send people to the shadow realm. (This is a jojoke im sorry if its cringe or doesn’t work.)
Yeah this is why I quit stone ocean on kiss of love and revenge. I finished stone ocean sooner or later. Now I'm at sbr chapter 13

2:16 loved the reference to that chanel, I don't remember the name, but I watched a lot of videos about snakes and monitors, it's really good
The coloration of the centipede looks like a shiny centiscorch
Was that a Clint's Reptiles refrence in there ?
I remember getting my first crested gecko from Petco and feeling sad Bc I left his “tank mate” behind….. went back the next day to buy him and learn they are not “social” animals, who get “sad” or “miss” others and would much rather feel as kings or queens of their world! 😅
Oh wow... At least u don't have to buy another one
Huh. Kind of like "phenominal cosmic powers! . . . itty-bitty living space" mindset.
wow. if theres a pokemon based on that, ide imagine its a pokemon you shouldnt feel remorse for leaving it alone in the pc, or trading cause it doesnt give a fuk about any 1 anyway
Also Grevious looks exactly like Centiskorch’s Shiny form.
#bringbackskylanders
I feel the exact same way with my uncle, he’s awesome and gives me things all the time and helps me with everything
Love all the Jurassic Park references especially “Some of the worst things imaginable have been done with the best intentions” 😂
Legend says that his centipede is still on the loose to this day.😉 But seriously, if it is, I feel bad for you.🥺 Hope it doesn't attack you unexpectedly the moment you find it.
1:25 soo.. a centipede in primary school crawled on my friend's back not there shirt or jumper on there skin
Clints reptiles!! I see that shout out 🥰 this video is awesome, love the animation Xx
Lots of Jurassic park references....... Love it
After 2 months he returned again
2:15 hey look its Clints Reptiles!
Edit: can you make a pet room tour? I wanna see them in (slight) action (because most of them just chill around)
0:21 spiderman stand of meme
I absolutely love the Clint's Reptiles reference!!
You just became my number 1 favourite youtuber you keep insects and keep cool pets and your cool you make my day
I've only had one escapee and I know it was entirely my fault.
0:49 is that goherping's set up? Lol
Hey Young Yong, I’ve been wanting to try and raise a praying mantis as a pet for some time now so I was just wondering where you actually get all of your pets from
I love how Barkus looks like a chad
Centipedes are so neat!! But they're also one of the few bugs that i get genuinely nervous around. Whether that is or is not a long-lasting effect of the giant centipede island episode of lost tapes I watched as a kid... who can truly say?
1:00 I like how he just casually has a real live Dunkleosteus in his house
I bet he had an arthropleura somewhere, or a meganeura, brontoscorpio, or pulmonoscorpius
RIP GLEN YOU WILL FOR EVERY BE MISS
1:00 h-how did this man revive a ded fish from like 65 million years ago
Bro it was a dunkleosteus and lived before the dinosaurs and never lived in the cenizoic
I love the Clint’s reptiles reference❤❤
4:50 Star Wars reference?
I went under my couch once but then we found him and then he’s scared of leaving his cage
If you still want to catch Grievous, just give me a call. I promise you that I can located him (although I can't promise that I'll bring him back alive).
I loved the Clint's Reptiles joke because I have two crested geckos and used to watch him as research
I was once in my room as a kid and getting ready for bed, turned the lights out, turned on some late night cartoons and....there was a HUGE centipede in my room climbing up the wall. I screamed and those aren't native in my area so idk how it got in my house. All I know is my mom panicked and killed it.
