    Narcissism:
    There are two types of narcissism: With grandiose narcissism we see characteristics like being extroverted, socially bold, self-confident, having a superficial charm, being resistant to criticism, and being callous and unemotional. Vulnerable narcissism is characterized by shame, anger, aggression, hypersensitivity, a tendency to be introverted, defensive, avoidant, anxious, depressed, socially awkward, and shy.

    I feel so bad for Joe's current husband. He really can't let go of him, even though he could do so much better... Same with Jeff's wife. I would have liked to see what you thought about Jeff in particular. He was formerly charged with *strangling* his wife, and later in an interview when she was very pregnant he said she would be in the gym right after giving birth so she wouldn't get fat, *AND* in the same scene, he is looking up *only* beautiful nannies to look after their child after it is born. It makes me think that you *have* to be a narcissist or some level of self-aggrandizing to run a place like Joe/Jeff. Makes sense, because they surely don't prioritize anyone but themselves, let alone the _animals_ they're supposed to care for.

He did briefly touch on Joe's relationship with his husbands, the one who killed himself, the other one who's with him now, the employee who got her arm ripped off & how Joe handled that situation with the visiting public.
      He always outlines the topics he's going to discuss at the beginning of the video. Unfortunately these aren't hour + long documentaries that go over every little detail. His point with these style videos is to start with the background of the story, cover the personality traits of the person in question, then offer his analysis.
      But you can offer suggestions for future topics to cover

No rapid-fire editing, no shouting, no look-at-me graphics, just 18 minutes of calm, substantive, interesting analysis. On the subject of Tiger King, of all things. I agree with most of his conclusions. The invective I've seen directed at Carole Baskin online, for what seems to me a flimsy innuendo-based case that gets even flimsier the more one digs into it, has been over the top. No one came off very well in this series, but others looked worse than she did, and Joe was near the top of that list.

I’m starting to wonder whether procreation is a good idea at all. I believe much dysfunction stems from traumatic early life experiences coupled with or because of the inadequacies, neglect, and abuse by the primary caretakers. In this documentary, Joe was a self-obsessed, dangerous man who never felt truly worthy. Something about Carol seemed a little “off” to me, and I tend to believe she knew more about her husband’s disappearance than she admitted. I think I shall start spending more of my time on household projects, epigenetic studies, my foreign language course, and last but not least, Dr. Grande’s analytical content. Thanks Dr. Grande 😊

    • @lucyw4195
      @lucyw4195 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My theory is Carol knew the mob had a hit out on Don. Instead of going to the police, she capitalized off of his murder and cheated his family out of their inheritance. Not as bad as killing someone, but definitely exploitative. Obviously just a theory, but it seems the most likely to me based on the information presented. I agree it's incredibly unlikely that she could murder someone without leaving any evidence behind.
      Though, I'll give Carol Baskin credit for being the only one who genuinely cared about the animals. Her organization does a great job caring for cats - her rescues always seem happy and healthy and have plenty of space to run around.

    The documentary did leave out some fairly important information. For example, Carol Baskin’s husband was a pilot who owned planes and was missing. However, they never state how many planes he owned, how many planes were at the airport and how many planes were missing.
    There are a number of examples like this that I think the producers deliberately left out to keep up the mystery and suspense.

  • @carriekup

    Carol was seen at 3 a.m. the morning Don disappeared supposedly getting tiger milk. She was seen by her brother who was a police officer. And her brother is not the one who transported her home when her car supposedly broke down. He had someone else transport her home. I think it's absolutely feasible that her brother was her accomplice and that's how she got the van parked at that other location. I also don't think it's likely that he flew his small plane to Costa Rica considering that I've seen other sources say he would have had to stop for fuel four times in order to get there. I don't believe he's under the septic tank and I don't believe that she fed him to the Tigers. But I do think it was a very poor investigation and that it's certainly possible she was involved with his disappearance. Another point that I find important is that the Will that had a disappearance clause was signed by a witness. That witness has since come out to the police and confessed to them that she never witnessed Don sign that document but she was an employee of Carol's and was intimidated by Carol so she lied for her. And that came straight from the police chief.

    I love your gift for phrasing things.
    " he said a lot of things that are inconsistent with good judgment"💗

    Joe Exotic is definitely not my cup of tea so I skipped the series. I am acquainted with Big Cat Rescue and have great respect for their work. Thank you for saving me the viewing and for your respected opinion on Baskin❣🙏🖖

    Doc Antle is the one who interested me the most - A lot of questions could be raised about him. He was a very interesting, intelligent and manipulative character.
