    You don't have to add so many ingredients for making coconut chutney, because too many ingredients scares away people.
    Just grind to paste grated coconut with salt and green or red chilli to a fine paste. Then just apply a tempering with mustard, red chilli, and curry leaves.
    The other ingredients are optional. Even without them cutney will taste good

    dear chef,thanks for the recipe,I would like to share with you a tip on how my mother makes this chutney,she uses rock salt and a bit a fresh coriander while grinding the coconut,the rock salt gives a very tangy and unique taste to the chutney.

    We usually never add Tamarind to Coconut chutney. After seeing this I tried adding Tamarind, and yes it did spoil the chutney. It never tasted like coconut chutney. Adding too much of anything is good for nothing. Strictly not recommended to add Tamarind.

    There's nothing better than using fresh coconut and breaking it the way chef showed.I have tried using those frozen grated coconut.they're so dry and tasteless.think they squeeze some of the milk from the coconuts.Compare the taste of freshly ground and readily available grated coconut.i'll always use fresh coconut now that i know the easy way .thanks Chef!this was awesome.Mainly coz u showed the way to use fresh coconut.

    salaam alaikum means peace be upon you.
    Namaste is derived from Sanskrit and Persian term "Namas" ( Persian: نماز and Sanskrit: नमस ) which has many different meanings such as : "bow , prostration , obediance , reverential salutation , adoration"; muslims cannot bow near anyone but Allah,the creator and sustainer of universe.

  • @andrer2006
    @andrer2006 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    you dont have to peel the coconut!!! everyone knows the ingredients. HOW much do i add????? And what is with the salaam alaikum crap? Are you in the middle east? Cant you Just say namaste /sat sri akal/good evening ? - curry is not a middle eastern thing.. It is Indian/Sikh and a lot of western people in India are looking at this.

  • @sudeesh01
    @sudeesh01 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    All is well and good, but you don't break coconut like that. If you want your coconut into two equal half's, then hit (hard) on one the three lines of the coconut at right angel, it will break into two equal half's. then you can use the traditional or modern scraper to scrape it out, which will give the coconut a nice texture. i know i am for a controversy here.

    I think salaam walequm equals namastay(i dont hear any muslim saying namastay) while jai shree ram equals inshal allah or something that way we are taking muslim god's name which we dont! I still think muslims could say namastay...

    @sudeesh01 With due respect and I am being a south Indian, I have a problem with the method you described. Not necessarily it breaks into two halves. Even if it does we need to peel off the outer hard shell for grating. This is what we do back home. But the chef's method has advantage, we can remove the shell and grate very easily. I did it, it is awesome. I don't think we really want to grate coconut like in good old days. I hope people remember how hard it is.
