I have a right-hand drive 525ix, and it looks like the motor is positioned more to the left as the 90° inlet pipe is right against the strut turret, interesting.
i have the same problem when try to find and replace a cranckcase ventilation unit, then realize that is no CCV on m50 engine, its only PCV (the connector unit that came out from the crankcase with 2 hose). the big hose going to the MAF boot and the lil one go to the ICV boot.
G'Day from Australia. I have an e36 M50B20 early one and all the other videos are about later American models. Your video is great. You explain everything and clearly know your sh*t, mate! My regulator blew its diaphragm and before I watched your video tore out the fan duct at the back of the engine bay, the electrical channels too all because some clown put the hose clamp facing the back exhaust side. no way to get to it. Had I watched your video I'd have saved an hour. My only complaint is how to unclip the injectors. I couldn't really see, but hey. 5 stars anyway buddy. Thank you !!
Hey, I have the same engine, im chasing a slightly rough idle and a delay on throttle press, from which i assume is a vaccum leak. removing the oil cap made no change to the engine, replaced the cap and valve cover gasket, still no change when removing the cap, and still hearing that air hiss--I'm told thats normal but I'm unsure if that's true. I've sprayed around the intake to hear to any leaks and the idle does not change, i have new intake gaskets so i may as well change them out in case they are actually at fault. good video, thorough and explained well!
@@shaunmathew1640 unfortunately not yet, been working on my other projects in the mean time. the head gasket might have just let go on me, but not badly yet. When I tear into it I'm sure i'll find the issue. if i figure it out i'll reply here to let you know!
I need to do all of this again so as to get at the Idle Air Control Valve and this time I will clean the IACV properly to make sure the valve opens and closes freely. Or it could be shagged and i need a new IACV. Steady Rpm at idle is bliss.
what are those 3 connections underneath the hard fuel line? i have a 95 525i (with vanos) but i seem to not have the one closest to the oil filter housing connected. it’s a 2 prong male piece but i’m not sure what goes there. great vid!
Just had to take my intake off and now I need some help please! Car was parked for a couple of years, put a battery in and it started up just fine with a little bit of rough idle, but noticed when I turned the lights on it would idle a bit more rough to the point of shutting off but after turning off the light it would smooth back out. Then saw smoke coming from the engine, it was the wire that connected to the oil pan, that wire was burned all the way through the wire harness that I traced all the way up to the harness mounted on the firewall. I don’t know what could’ve caused that but want to know if I have to change the entire wire Arness or I can continue to trace that wire that goes to the oil pan and replace just those wires. Help please! By the way the car is a five speed manual
Thanks for that detailt video about the removal. It absolutely looks like a pain in the but. Mein m50b20 vanos hase a brocken crankshaft position sensor. Can you explain where the connector of that thing is. I have figured out that it must be under the intake bud I really don't wonne do all that work just because the connector is under their. Do you know eny tricks on how to replace the sensor? Thanks in advance Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks! The crank pos sensor wiring is very hard to reach without removing the intake, I'd recommend removing it if you can - just go slow. The wire runs under the intake manifold and will be easy to access. PelicanParts has some good instructions on their site with photos.
Hello. The hose you mention at 3:17 - more or less - has the same function on the 520i? If its busted can it cause the car to run rough or not even at all? Thank you in advance.
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Emmett Wilson Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I’m glad you had this video here I realized I forgot to get an intake manifold temp sensor and I would have been upset after taking my car apart
Thank you for this video. Because of your video, I found out my idle air control valve is broken..
Wish you had an Install video as well, I guess I’ll do it backwards
How was it installing everything back?

Great video I have to replace the octopus hose that’s the reason my car is overheating

Air sensor where pipes go where are they connected
BMW took a 6 cylinder engine that should be easy to work on and made it complicated lol
So I'm doing this job to replace my starter. I'm not able to start my car to run the fuel out, how else can I relieve the pressure?
Kinda late but just stick a big screwdriver in the fuel filler and leave it there
No knock sensors on non vanos m50?
Correct, M50NV doesn’t have knock sensors.
Hello my brother, can you help me. I have a petrol pump that does not connect to the electricity of a BMW e34 525i 1989
please respond quickly
There is a fuel pump relay and a fuel pump fuse, check both of those.
@@bimmer-addiction Brother, can I contact you on any social networking site such as Instagram or Facebook?
@@bimmer-addiction The relay is good, and fuse good
