    Mainly for VAIO's, from what I've researched, but it works with ANY laptop. This is a how to, and a wayyy better quality video than the one I followed, but I still give credit to the guy, if it wasn't for his guidance, I literally would not be typing this lol

    Totally worked, thanks for the awesome tip. I was going to purchase a new port (about $25.00) and try and install it myself. Everything online says taking the laptop apart and installing the new port is a pain in the butt and can take a long time, if you know what you are doing. After watching multiple videos on how to do it and becoming discouraged that this would be way too time consuming, I scrolled a little further and came across this video. Totally worked. Took less than 5 minutes. It took me more time to find the tweezers than to make the repair.

    They really ought to switch the ac plug to a charger like a cellphone has.

    • @Alkalite
      @Alkalite 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah, the ac connections are absolute shit. Even better, adopt apple's method of connecting a charger via magnets.

    lol I watched this and 10 seconds in I was thinking I was going to have to thumbs this down... HOWEVER this actually worked FAR better than expected! I have an Alienware m15x and the charger has been loose for so long and with a dead battery I NEEDED the charger to STAY plugged in. And in case anyone else has an Alienware as well, the fix is the same only the "chip" he said to lift is the little metal ribbons and you do it the same way just don't pull too hard or it can pop out. ALSO there are 8 of these. 4 Around the edge and 4 around the plastic peg in the center just pull these outward with a sewing needle or something else with a sturdy and thin tip and VOILA! Thank you Coach Peter greatly appreciated!

    • @Akintioye
      @Akintioye 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      so do i when mine started and now am so confuse because i dont know how to follow all this simple intruction to lift the metal up because i dont want to make the case worse again like when i followed an instruction on the youtube on how to watch youtube offline because after following the intructuction that when my laptop began to have problem to load th page even though it pick up the wifi name but refuse to load when i try to search for any thing in the bar search

    • @Akintioye

      and i have just gone to repair my laptop WiFi connection problem in which they told me they had to change the WiFi drive then when i ask why they said the WiFi card is been burnt due to excessive use of electricity because i always leave to on charge when am using it the battery has being dead well it cost £45 where it was at last repaired yesterday and if you must know its now i know that not all the computer repairing shop knows all about computer some only know basic way on how to repair them why because i have taken my laptop to several repairing shops that at the end they just said to me ho sorry we cant find the fault and another said hey we think you should buy another laptop as the laptop is now packed up and when i went to curries i was asked to pay £80 in order to get new harddrive installed into my laptop because i was told it will be needing a new harddrive allthough after the wifi problem was repaird and i told them about the charging port problem i was told i need to pay them another £45 in which i had to leav the shop with out repairing it so please tell me how much can that part be please thanks

      @israelsanchez8366 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +tomtom sweet it does sound like they may just be trying to get money from you. I'm sorry I don't know the cost of the part for you as all laptops vary. I know that to replace my charger port I would have to replace the entire motherboard which would cost me a couple hundred dollars.

    This is awesome, I've been having trouble because my sister broke the port and I needed to use the laptop for school but it would always turn off and mess up my things because it wouldn't want to charge. I had to tape the charger into the port many different times then it would move randomly and power off, this helped me get rid of that. Thank you!!!! I can finally use my computer again with no trouble (I used a needle pin and it worked perfectly) :) 10/10

  • @fullhanzproductions
    @fullhanzproductions  11 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yes, two: 1 Use a bit of force to get under the chip, but be careful not to stab to deep once the tool you use goes through OR 2 Find a tool that is thinner or smaller to go in between the chip and plastic. I had to use quite a bit of force to wedge it out. Thanks for the thumbs up! :)

    OMG! seriously??? after I don't know how many burnt up/overheated power cords and even having gone as far as ordering a new little power socjet, as I looked for the video to tell me again how to replace the socket, I ran across this....GENIOUS! worked like a magical charm! Thank you so much. I now own a replacement power port in the event that I ever do need to replace it but...for now don't need to remove solder or resold etc!! Thanks so much. Btw, I did this to a Samsung R480 (don't know why they discontinued this little work horse cuz it has travelled half the world in flight mileage and the power problem is the ONLY problem it has ever given!) Thanks again....still amazed at how simple it was and guess what, you are correct, a repair shop would have charged at least a few hundred even though there was just this to it.

    • @aramirez3126
      @aramirez3126 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh, forgot to add....my little metal ground piece was so far in there I could not lift with tweezers...I just used the tip of a safety pin first lifted a little on one side then lifted a little on the other side of the little metal ground piece and....there you have it...worked great. was wondering if rather than glue gun which is very messy, how about a 5 second fix pen (or would that make it a pain if I later have to replace the port for real). If anyone tries the 5 second adhesive pen, update us please.

    Wow. People. Anyone growing up in a public US school from 1990's + deserves to be taught the basic physics/electronic principles covered here. I only know it because of physics in college. Currently this info is only offered to (I can only speak for TX) more advanced students. I know history is important, but these practical concepts need to be taught in 8th grade! It's not rocket science. I really wish there were programs where public school kids could take classes and dissect outdated/broken computers. Learn how to solder (welding metal at a ballpoint pen size), and to learn common sense of how to do it without frying the entire device. Kudos to anyone watching this and trying to learn for yourself!

WAY cheaper than any stores $75+ "Universal" chargers that are the exact same quality as those on the eBay. Thanks for the thumbs up! :)

    Yeah, if there is enough force applied to the port over a period of time- you'll constantly have to be fixing/positioning the plug, or even putting new glue. The reason it worked great for me over a long time is because it was a workstation. I bought a wireless mouse/keyboard for it and used that while having it plugged into my tv. Never moved it at all, still works great, but I use my new one now if I'm out and about.

    I would never open up a laptop. Especially if it's something to do with the charging port. The stuff inside a laptop are extremely delicate, some pieces get a few specs of dust and just die. Whoever opened up yours and made it worse should pay you for damages. That's messed up Majah :(

  • @fullhanzproductions
    @fullhanzproductions  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't have to, but then you won't have something to counter the constant "loosening" of the port. If you have a laptop that heats almost to a burn, the glue will melt. It's happened to me.

    i have a asus 501k from 2009 and today it decided that it wasn't going to charge. i knew the port was loose for a while so today i took the computer apart and found the wire that connects to the port into the motherboard, then i unplugged it blew it out and plugged it back in and put the laptop back together but that didn't work then i just put the battery back in and turned it on till it died and then decided to try seeing if the charger would work and it did no clue why or how but if this happens again i might just replace the port

    Yeah, it turns out certain companies have stopped creating ports with prongs entirely. Too many customers have complained about loose port fixes. Which I think was something done on purpose to have customers pay over $100 to fix, but when you have reviewers online that murder their laptop in a video or written review, the companies start losing money, so they had to "upgrade" their ports to one prong, none, and now I think there are some similar-usb-style ports for charging :D

    I see. Thanks!
    Mine has completely stopped, or it works at very select times, charging then stopping, charging then stopping.
    Also, the weirdest part it, the tray icon show's "plugged in" picture, but the orange light doesn't blink.
    That's when I know, its not sending a good charge through.
    I saw a software fix somewhere...u ever heard of such a fix?

    Well, I have to completely disassemble my laptop to fix it. And what's wrong is its actually removed itself from the surface of the motherboard. I got this information from a computer tech at my school. I am having a hard time getting two screws loose. They are covering the hard drive and fan, but every other screw comes out without any hassle. Any idea on how I would get those two loose?

  • @fullhanzproductions
    @fullhanzproductions  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's rare, but sometimes those screws have a special type of driver needed to remove them. My best bet would be to take a pic of the screw, and then take it to your tech department at school and ask to borrow the driver :)

    Hey man, I got the same laptop, gotta try this fix. I also had the same issue you mentioned about it getting hot. Just yourself some canned air duster and blow the shit out of all the vents on the bottom, and mainly the fan vent on the side. Blow it out until no more dust comes out. Mine was getting so hot I thought it would melt and now it runs cool and quiet (when it charges)
    Anyway, good video, I'll give it a try.
