I have tried to get my mum and dad to stop 🛑 paying the BBC but they are very old and say we just don’t want them keep coming to our house and the 1000’s of letters We will just pay them to shut them up, it’s just sickening how they keep going after old people,
Many young people don't understand how old people think. They believe that old people are like us, just with white hair and saggy skin.

I'm old and stopped the licence years ago. I follow the rules and wouldn't watch the BBC if it was free anyway.
But my wife finds the letters threatening and doesn't want to read them.

I've been stood up! Despite warning me with a letter promising a visit today, they never showed up. So disappointed as I had laid on a 3 course lunch, hoovered and had a shower and what happens? Nothing.

My mother passed away and a couple of weeks later the letters started arriving, she wasn't even cremated they just don't care..I should contact my MP but he's next to useless.
Why don't folk realise that NOT watching a TV is beneficial to your health. I don't have a 'Flickering lantern' and my life is a lot better, and strangely, I've formed my OWN ideas of what's going in the World. Peace and goodwill.

The DWP doesn’t tell over 75s that getting a free TV license is means tested. I believe that having more than £12k in your bank account won’t allow a free license.
If you get pension credit guarantee. Then it’s a free licence no matter what money you have

You only get pension credit if your weekly income is below £201.05 if you’re single or joint weekly income of £306.85 if you live with your partner.

Because they’re not entitled to and it would put constraints on them if they did/could. Channel 4 could in theory request a cut but it choses not too. Sorry can’t remember the legislation.

I keep all mine. I've got 28! Last one arrived yesterday while i had friends here. We had just been talking about my stack of letters. There are lots of things keep me up at night. TV License goons visiting isn't one of them. I do have some advice for them though. Make your letters from softer paper. At least it will be useful.

Got another letter telling me the "enforcement officers" will be round on the 22nd March, wonder if they will actually turn up this time, I've had literaly dozons of letters like this, I recon it could be harassment at this point as they have not once turned up on the day stated, or ever for that matter.
So if I was to actually make time to wait for them they would be wasting my time continuously.

Why not contact GB News for perhaps a follow up with all of your documentation since this has been and probably will be an endless situation. We cancelled our tv license almost two years ago. The amount of threatening letters we’ve received since then could wallpaper the Grand Central Station lobby. Our uncle died last year and we still receive those letters for him even after official death notification. If you want any of these, we’ve saved them just to see how far it will go 🙃BTW, thanks for all you’ve done and do to keep this issue alive and share good information on when the license is actually needed. You are credit to public service!
Basically, if you’ve been sensible and saved your whole life for a personal or work pension, you have to pay. If you’ve frittered it all away on booze and ciggies you get a free licence.

Just had my latest 'Will you be in on' letter the other day. I don't want to disappoint Ross McTaggart but, stuff him, I'm not going to be available for him or any of his goons, whenever they decide to call!
Btw, the cost of sending the letters must be hitting Crapita hard as it arrived in a white envelope (with the narrow window) and the 'Will you be in?' but is now printed in pale blue instead of the usual red. In fact, the only bit of red is the fake stamp with the fake signature in the bottom left corner.

Lets hope the next govt scrap the bloody license, BBC is broadcast around the world, I watched it with adverts in denmark, how do they get to watch it for free??? if they can have adverts there why not here??? why should we pay? they have a massive commercial arm, that in its self should be in breach of their conditions for asking for a license. Actual live TV is normally delayed by several seconds, so is that actually Live???? Scrap the license.

When GB news last covered on the topic about the tv licence, the clip was posted on TH-cam and I think that I posted a comment to suggest that you should be on the news coverage when it's on next time.
I feel a lot better about myself knowing that mentally tougher people than me have been worried about this as well 😅I've also been dreading the visit myself for a while now - and I don't even own a TV! I'm not particularly assertive and I've never just turned away someone at the door before without even hearing them out, so this is going to be a new experience for me. I guess I could just not answer the door, but I'm just so worried I'll get caught off guard on the way back from work or something, and end up saying something wrong.
I've had so many threatening letters. I don't even bother opening them anymore. I know for sure I don't need a TV licence, but it doesn't stop them from trying their luck to get cash out of me. It's outrageous behavior.

There's a TVL advert running on Kerrang radio at the moment and I piss myself when it comes on, the voice actor is banging on about how it's best to watch it live to find out who's dumped who or some shite on trash TV before your 'phone blows up' with people messaging you to tell you first, like most people who listen to Kerrang radio give a shit 😆. The best bit is when she says something about someone having the brass neck to do that, how dare they. I can't remember it word for word but 😆

What would happen if one who has only got a smart phone and not a television when that person send the BBC of their phone bill say like £600 if that person has to pay the tv license. You all know that the BBC will tell that person to pound sand. If everyone who has only a smart phone and not a tv sends the BBC their high phone bills if they too have to pay for a tv license, what do you reckon as to what the heads of the BBC being. Will they be panicking or stick to their guns especially if those demand that BBC pays the bills or be taken to court for nonpayment.
I am sick and tired of the stream of threatening letters from TV Licensing for a crap service I don't use and I don't want.

I reported the runts to the police for harassment for sending letters etc and now only get two letters once every two years. I haven't opened them but BBB has covered harassment law and I think that's why their contacts are so reduced.
So when the DWP approve a free TV licence application, does it contact TV licensing and inform them that the person is exempt, or does the DWP fund the TV licence out of taxpayers money?
We are yet to have a letter but I know it’s definitely on its way at some point .
You should look in to how they violate disabled peoples rights and yes they work for the dwp.

We lived on a narrow boat then moved into a house and not bother with it as it saves us so much money and as a family we can’t thank you enough john we are a family of 4 all with disabilities I’m dad I have a brain injury mum has ptsd my lad is autistic my little girl has hearing aids and the money you are saving us is increasing are quality of life we all can’t thank you enough we all thank you from the bottom of are hearts 😢.

Just had a look at the price of bulk mailing for 1 million letters, £630000 which is approx 3962 tv license costs. How many do they get from doing their door to door enquiries a month plus how much does it cost to send the goons out? amazing I'll bet just how much the BBC pays for all of this. the average number of prosections for 2022 was 3749 per month so it doesn't pay the ammount they are costing themselves to pursue this utter nonsense. according to the BBC info blurb there are 2.397 million households with no license.

I Had letter to day to say my licence ran out january,went on their website to opt out declaration,however the site seems to have changed you have to answer questions then give your name address tel no email address,UNLESS YOU GIVE THESE DETAILS YOU CANT DECLARE NO LICENCE NEEDED.i therefore refused to continue

I was in Malaga many years ago, dropped into a coffee shop and asked for a coffee. One little cup arrived which wasn't going to quench my thirst so swigged that back and got another, still thirsty had another. Got up and walked straight into the doors off my face on Coffee !

So how exactly is the £169.50 going to divide up into 12 months if you pay monthly, have they said? One or some months adjusted to make it right or will it be £14.13 x 12 making it £169.56? An extra 6p sneak tax on licence fee payers. ie another load of money per year for the BBC that can fall through the cracks of the accounts (Superman 3 style) by rounding it up a fraction of a penny each month. £1.5M if everyone who's paying it does it monthly.
So the beeb obviously has more than enough money. Sorted.

My elderly mum hasn't had a licence for six years. She doesn't watch ANY lamestream, catch up or otherwise. She gets a monthly harassment letter like I do. It just goes round in circles. We just ignore them. Neither of us have had any visits, and we won't be at home to them if they do turn up!
I have recently seen loads of ads on TH-cam from the TVlicencing in the last month. I suppose they are spending Licence payers money on that advertising?!

Ive just got my first letter today after 7 years of not paying tv licence coz i dont need one. Ask me have i moved home its very weird coz we were on about moving into a new property soon but have no changed our mind. We have been here for 16 years i just find it very fishy we get the letter when we have been looking at new propertys i ve have binned the letter tho lol coz it has nothing to do with them
There absolutely was a time when the TVL was to pay to legally watch the BBC TV channels. Or listen to BBC radio channels.
In my memory, which is shot if I'm honest, after over 40 years of reasonably sturdy alcohol consumption, that was changed in a Government bill pretty much immediately after the first smart alec (in the eyes of the BBC) won their court case against non payment of the TVL. Because they had their TV set tuned in to only receive other channels besides the BBC. So the bottom inspectors had absolutely no proof that the person was in fact watching BBC programmes.
