A couple of months ago one of the goons turned up, identified himself, i pointed to my two external cameras pointing at the front door, informed him he was on the Ring doorbell camera and also the internal hallway camera that is aimed at the front door from the inside, he very quickly lost interest in selling a TV licence
Crapita need to have a serious word with the inspector who wouldn't answer the question, "Who are you"? He really is a goon. Thanks for sharing these, CJ.
True , the BBC guide is they must show identity card and if the customer request they are issued cards to give with a phone number to call for verification ,

Disagree with your take on the last one, you always follow someone on your property to make sure they leave the property, the owner couldn't see the goon leave from his front door.
In the last one, he followed him down the garden, to make sure he left, didn't cause any damage, and didn't look into windows.
I think the occupier was sensible to do that.

The following part is done to further humiliate them. Unnecessary, but does send a message to them that they're not welcome.
I see it as the homeowner being generously prepared to assist the goon if he should get lost on the route back to the entry gate.

Idk about that. Some of them merely follow them to the property boundary and seem to be more of making sure that people who shouldn't be there have left. Simply property security.
You should tell people that it is not that they don't want their faces filmed.....they cannot lie if they are being filmed. In many cases, in the past, they would fit up people who they judged to be 'weak' and did not have any means of recording the incident. The goons would fill in the Form and sign it with a scribble, when the poor young girl (usually) answered them and interacted....several months later the person they have fitted up would simply not remember whether they were interviewed under caution when it comes to court and their court appointed crook would advise them to admit everything and fall upon the lenience of the court....cheaper option. So filming them stops them from fitting you up.
Probably a lot in what you say , over two thirds or prosecutions are female ,
@@derektaylor5447 I wonder if they release the ages of those they prosecute? Women live longer on average so that might be part of why they make up so many, just being targeted due to their age.
This is exactly what happened to my daughter! She ended up with a £350 fine! When I found out I was livid that they`d done this!

Its quite reasonable to follow someone off your property and make sure they close any gate... It wasn't pursuit, it was just confirming they left and secured the gate...
Dave - You are right. They should definitely be followed - to their car if poss., and Reg. No. noted and checked with DVLA to ensure it's taxed and MOT'd. Also to pass to the Police if it turns out they're not goons, but scammers or robbers!
@@topcat1358 one extreme to the other... I'm just suggesting you check they leave your property and close and gate... No Police will be interested and you could be considered the assailant if you do pursue and harass them beyond your property boundary, especially if they are withdrawing.
@@daveofyorkshire301 If they have failed to ID themselves, they are a complete, suspicious stranger at your door - real motive unknown. I'm not suggesting pursuit or harassment. Just film and follow - to their car to obtain Reg No. which could assist police in their search for possible crook and scammer. The next door the stranger could be an old woman living alone who lets them in and is burgled, assaulted or worse. You are performing a Neighbourhood Watch duty! Think about others, not just yourself.

Chilli - I think you're wrong. These goons should be filmed and followed. The car they retreat to should also be filmed, and Reg. No. obtained.
This should be done to ensure they are not just pretending to be TV Goons. They could be robbers trying to get into your house by false pretence.
Their car no. should be checked with DVLA to ensure it is taxed and MOT'd!
And more importantly insured for work use.
Interesting I am giving serious thought to canceling . A total waste of money I don't watch BBC . But I do need every penny to pay for my heating and electric bill. MPs don't realize how hard it is now to make ends meet. They are an absolute disgrace. Just like the BBC.
Mark, if you're not watching bbc, live tv, just cancel asap, don't hold it off any longer. That £159 sure will help especially in the next few months with everything else rising in cost (food, fuel, energy, n.i contributions, etc) and even more money being squeezed out of us.

I got a letter from them last week saying we have started a investigation because I have not contacted them and the letter went straight in the recycling bin 👍
Filming them seems to make them scuttle off a lot easier. They're cowardly creeps and should be exposed as such as much as possible to spread the word not be afraid of them. I've only been a home owner living independently for 2 months and have already had 2 letters so far. No visit yet but if I do get one, the camera will be ready. 100%
It seems to be that filming them and repeatedly asking them "who are you" , without answering any of their questions, is a good strategy.
I collect the letters, I get 10 letters a year
If you want to avoid the hassle just phone them up and tell them to leave you alone and that you don't need one. I did that a few years ago and have not heard anything since.

I never film them I just tell them to fuck off and don't give them any details, sometimes they then phone the police to come and help their scam along, then the police also get the same treatment. This results in both TV licencing and the police walking away with their tail between their legs with perhaps an empty threat of returning another day. It can be rather entertaining at times, downright frustrating at others lol the police will often lie and tell you that they have a warrant to enter signed by a judge then present you a piece of paper with a digital signature on it 🤣 it's amusing how far theyle go sometimes. If that's how warrants work I should start printing my own at will lol
Now send them a letter every month, warning that if they watch your video without paying for a licence, they're committing a crime, and that if they don't reply, an investigator will be sent to inspect their premises.

Anyone in such a situation that won’t identify themselves must be upto no good, probably fraud or theft.
It's always worth following them out to make sure they close the gate on the way out. Too many delivery people leave it open.

Despite Jon's campaign against the licence fee, when it comes to face to face confrontations, he seems embarrassed if people have the confidence to deal with strangers at their front door in an authoritative way, even when they're clearly not incriminating themselves, so why should they meekly slam the door and run inside? I'd give that first lady 9 out of 10.................
Fully agree. With a bit of luck it will put a dent in their self confidence. If enough people do it perhaps they'll resign from crapita and get a proper job.

You're missing the point, bud. If people can't express themselves in such a situation, without issuing abuse or physical threats, or cannot contain themselves from having an argument and maybe self incriminating themselves as a result, then Jon's advice is the best advice for them to follow.
If however, people opening their own front door to a complete stranger, can CONFIDENTLY express to that stranger, that they have no business to warrant cold calling their address, as this lady did, then I find that entirely justifiable.

I'd be really interested in seeing an interview with an ex-goon. I think many of your viewers, including me, wonder how anyone can do this job in good conscience. I assume that they have a very high turn over of goons because I like to think that most people very quickly realise that this job is 100% predatory.
I would like to know if there are any stats for injuries sustained by the goons.
They get these people from the same pool of the public as parking wardens, street litter enforcers, security. ex police. Park wardens, school janitors, pcso's, council licencing enforcement officers. They are a lower educated, lower ranked group who love regimental officialdum. They are infact the most dangerous group in society as they follow orders from above without question or care. It is well known and many books about it that this sector if society, the lowest order of the state carrying out the rules are what got hitler into power and many other now regrettable regimes. These are the worker bees of the tolitarians.
The kind of people who do this job would gladly start putting people in concentration camps if the government asked them to, they are spineless immoral cowards just like the people who ran the gulags and extermination camps of old.
@@icdgyixifyinstereo i know this comment was a while ago, but i just wanted to say that at one point a goon was in the news because he visited a woman who was home alone, pushed her inside and sexually assaulted her. So theres one statistic of what they are capable of.
Don’t talk to them. Just close the door in their face when they Identify themselves. Simples. Keep it simple. No contact. No interaction. Be as rude as you like.
Wouldn't need to be filmed if they had a single moral bone in their body.

Dear Jon, The 1st one I will give 10 out of 10. Little prick of a goon was owned. The 2nd I will also give 10 out of 10 as he showed courtesy of letting the goon that she was being. Not his fault the goon was a gutless wonder. Again 10 out of 10 for the last goon thought he could be in one upmanship on the client (victim) 2 bonus points to follow him to the gate in order of the goon not sneaking around the property. Let's face it , I would trust them as far as I could throw them and that would not be very far.

Capital has a policy of warning its agents not engage with video cammers freemen on the land or other "loonies" as it calls them; usually they hide behind their clipboards and wave their ID cards and whine that they "have the right not to be filmed"; the correct response is to say "tell the council to take down their CCTV cameras then" which they have no answer to.

Cancelled my license today........... I got an email acknowledgement advising that 'I would be advised of the outcome of my application within 21 days'. Even their automated email responses are institutionally arrogant!
None of them introduce themselves unless you ask who they are. Usually they ask you directly if you are Mr or Mrs such-and-such or if you are the occupier. Don't confirm anything to these people. If YOU ask who they are, they keep asking who YOU are, until eventually and reluctantly, they show you their card. A no thank you is all that is required there after and off they trot when you have closed the door behind them.
According to the BBC regulations they must show identity which shows name and a photograph, they are also issued with cards which give a number to call to verify their identity , Seems more training needed ,

Had a visit in December, he was polite, I was polite, he confirmed I did not require a licence, receive a letter couple of days later to confirm this, received a red letter off them two days ago telling me I was being investigated for no licence????.

I have a cheapy Gopro copy that films in 4k- it goes with me everywhere these days. There are notices on the shed in the fromt garden advertising the CCTV system and notes Plaques on front and back doors saying "No Cold Callers/Reps or other doorstep salesmen- All callers will be videoed for our safety and legal protection" then underneath in small print it gives our address as the owners of the film material and that we own the copyrights etc, etc Since putting up the notices, we have had ZERO cold callers!! Try it people, you can get the signs on Amazon or ebay cheap as chips!

Many years ago before computers this lady got a phone call from TV license as there was a mix up and although she did have a license it wasn’t actually recorded so the goon asked can I come to your house today to make sure and she says okay but I’m going out, my husband will be home and the license is under the clock on the mantelpiece. So the goon arrives that afternoon and the husband answers the door and he says can I see your TV license it’s under the clock on the mantelpiece and the husband replies my god just how powerful are your TV license detector vans?

I dunno, if someone turns up to my door, fails to identify themselves and runs away at the sight of a camera then they *might* be TVL but they could as easily be some other miscreant up to no good. Might be worth reporting to the police as a non-emergency anyway so they can keep track of door-to-door scammers, burglary gangs, etc.
Absolutely. Play daft. I'm an OAP and I adopt this stance a lot. "Someone came to the door, Mr Plod, then didn't identify themselves and toddled off because I was filming them for my own security. Wonder who it coulda been as they ran away?"

You could equally try "I'm a visitor. I was expecting a delivery. Where's the package ? Oh, who are you then?"
If they do not identify, they are most certainly con men/women regardless of whether or not they work for Capita, suspicious looking person who refuses to identify knocking on doors and demanding to talk to the occupier, refusing to identify, definitely a confidence trickster, so a call to 101, or even 999 could definately be justified.
When my grandmother got a knock on the door from TV licensing demanding entry and refusing to leave (this was about 30 years ago) she called the police, had a police officer enter her flat and confirm she did not have a TV, unfortunately no charges were brought against the goons in question.

Without filming them they can go away and write down what ever they want about you and your actions, which could be a complete lie, but the courts are likely to take note of as will have been taken contemporaneously.

It is extremely suspicious that they don't want to be filmed given that so many of them harass people. It just goes to show that the organization is knowingly disgraceful.
Someone comes up to your door and doesn't tell them who they are and ask for personal information and then runs away. If I didn't know about this rubbish then I would have said they were trying to burgle the place!
I was very impressed by a recent bright red envelope containing further news of an impending visit that has been scheduled every couple of months for the past year or so. No sign of any of these Munchkins so far but my camera is waiting with batteries all charged up.

I think they're starting to give up tbh. I had a "visit" on Wednesday where they didn't even bother knocking the door, they just stuffed a notice through the letterbox saying they'd visited and legged it. I was in the living room and watched him walk up the drive, post the notice and leave. I was quite disappointed actually.

I cancelled my license last year, I got a letter thanking me for telling them I don't need a licence & I still get so many letters reminding me & have had a visit while I was at work saying an investigation is on going this harassment has got to be stopped or people will just pay it to save on all the hassle

I think it’s always worth following them to their car and taking the number plate as I’m sure most wouldn’t have commercial insurance so would be breaking the law
I filmed a goon when they turned up at my door. He sheepishly asked me if I was going to upload it to TH-cam. I reassured him I wasn't as I was going to put it on my OnlyFan's account instead! 🤣He quickly scuttled off blocking his face with his folder.
I go one better my Boerboel checks everyone's ID before they set foot on my property.

I especially like the goon visits of the entertaining variety. My all time favourite is the "TVL van chase". Chilli, please do a reaction video to it. You'll know it's the right video when you hear little mix playing on the car radio with an angry bloke screaming as he chases TVL in their van.

Ooh, I clicked onto something else, but came back because I thought of a good reply to "Are you the occupier..?" Your answer should be.. "I am alpha and omega. The beginning and the end." Mind.. If he's never played Xenogears, then it wouldn't mean much. So actually, don't bother.

Go to halfords, buy a wheel clamp, when they visit, clamp their vehicle. Have an 8 page questionnaire with 260 questions on it ready. Before beginning to ask them the quesitons Inform them that based on the fact they have not written to you to confirm that they do not want their vehicle clamped you have had to open an investigation and progress it to the final level. Inform them that you are a "Senior Vehicle Clamp Removal Investigator" and will now under caution ask them 260 questions to establish if they need a clamp removal service. Also inform them that as part of your investigations you may be required to visit their residence during the day or in the evening to continually monitor their clamp removal requirements. Hours of fun and still cheaper than buying a TV licence.
You definitely should film them, if they are on camera they are less likely to give you grief or bullshit

I can't agree with your docking of points for the person silently following the goon to the threshold of their property.
i) By doing this, they made sure the goon couldn't "accidentally" lose his sense of direction, and start peering through any windows "by mistake".
ii) Knowing that goons sometimes "forget" to close the gate when thwarted, the owner was perfectly placed to remedy the situation should such a lapse occur.
Or they should " inadvertently " trip up and scratch your vehicle/ cause damage to your property - Film them all the way 👍👏👏👏👏
