Dude Im pretty sure he goes to F after Am Am F C C/B that's the way it sounds to me anyways. and if you watch him play it live and see his fingering positions for each chord it doesn't look like he goes to that C/B after Am
Yeah, now that you say it, it looks to me that way too in his live performances... I was going after the original recording and thought it was that walk up and then back down over the C/B... Thanks for the correction, I'll put it in the description! :)
I'd been searching for this for several months after the premiere of The Haunting of hill house before giving up. Dude, you're freaking awesome, thank you!
It was the same for me haha So, I just decided to start this channel and make tutorials for songs I always wanted to learn but didn't have any tutorials
Your video is a good video that I don't get tired of watching over and over again. Your video becomes an umbrella in my heart when it rains and a warm fireplace in my heart when it snows. I was surprised and touched by your sincerity and hard work while watching the video. I'm looking at your video like a dream. When the chilly, fragrant wind brushed my cheeks, I watched the video of you meeting for the first time today. When wild flowers with unknown names hidden by the roadside bloom, I remember my old memories hidden on the other side of my memory. My eyes are I was moved by your video and fell in love with it. The countless stars shining in the winter night sky are each beautiful, but I fell in love with your image that shines in my heart, and your image is so beautiful and enchanting. By chance at the winter window, as the algorithm introduced me, when I opened my TH-cam window, the first video I saw was your video. Algorithm informed me that your video is so good and good. It's so nice to see your video out of the many videos that pop up on TH-cam like grains of sand on the beach. Your video moves my heart. I was so moved by your video that I can't forget it even in my dreams, and happiness floods me.
Would also die for a full instrumental of this, as a keys player I can’t make my own but this is incredibly beautiful and I want to sing all of Gregory’s songs so badly! 😭

I have learnt this cause I loved this song ... But never have I have met anyone who knows it and specially when I play it in between the other campfire guitarists with upbeat and other pop songs ... Hope someday someone loves it as much as I do .
Love these GAI vids. He's one of my favorite artists; saw him at Red Rocks '19. I'm just a beginner. This song is too advanced for me. I just enjoy learning the cords for now. Idk if this applies to experienced players, but the strumming is damn difficult. If you want any suggestions to improve your already excellent lessons, maybe a word or two on the strumming techniques you're using for songs like these. Thanks for vids. Please keep them coming.
Thanks for your feedback, Marshall! I'll try to implement some beginners tips into my vids. One thing I can already tell is that it's helpful to always keep your hands moving Down and Up in eight notes to keep rhythm and time... The DUDUs I put in the bottom line should give you the reference for when to strum. But besides these actual strums, you should keep your hand moving the whole time without hitting the strings (ghost strums, so to speak). Hope that helps for now!
@@hennareytutorials Thanks. That definitely helps. I like strumming without a pick. It looks like you kind of hold your hand as if you were holding a pick during this song. I'm sure 10 players would strum it in 10 different ways. I've noticed ARK Guitar typically uses more of a loose index finger (for lack of a better way to describe it). I'm just tinkering for now. Need to learn to use the pick better. But a pick just sounds so heavy-handed on this song, at least when I use one :/
@@marshallsolomon9488 Very good analysis! I see, you have a good eye on these things. And you're right, there are like thousand different ways to strum and you can just go with what feels comfortable to you. for me, it's kind of depending on how I want it to sound. I use Alan's technique with a loose index and thumb movement for more quiet and soft strumming, and the way I do in this video (as if I was holding a pick and strumming with the fingernails of my index and thumb) for more powerful strumming. Here you need to tilt your wrist in a way that on the up strum (when you hit the strings with the nail of your thumb) the back of of your hand is pointing towards you. when you strum down with the nail of your index, the back of your handing should be pointing away from you. (Hope this explanation makes sense) Concerning the pick, it always sounds heavy handed at the start. First thing I can say is that you should not hold on too tight to the pick, even though it feels like you'd loose it otherwise. But it's also due to your right wrist movement. You can just use the same technique that I just explained beforehand. It needs a little bit of getting used to, but you'll find it sounds much smoother when you've got it down! :)
@@hennareytutorials That's incredibly helpful! Thank you. As far as the pick, I am trying to do exactly what you said. My high e string rings out sooooo loud that it overwhelms everything else when I use a pick. Very frustrating.
Hey mate, thank you for your kind words! I actually already got that request and kinda figured out how it is played, but I simply can't play it haha The picking in the song is killing me and I'm not yet able to play it correctly, but as soon as I am, I will make a tutorial :) Sorry!
Thanks for your great tutorials. There's is hardly any good tutorials on Gregory Isakov out there so really appreciate it :) Ur friend did a very nice tutorial of the stable song. He didn't put in the strumming pattern like you do in your videos. Is there any way you could write down that strumming pattern? Or are you going to do your own tutorial of that song?

Thanks so much, Kelly! Nonetheless, he's right, so I wanted to add this information for everyone to see :)
It sounds fantastic. I will probably end up doing something idiosyncratic with it myself. It happens. 😊❤

Thanks a lot.
Thanks dude for making a tutorial on one of the most underrated songs. This is awesome.

This was great, thank you!
This house
She's holding secrets
I got my change behind the bed
In a coffee can
Throw my nickels in
Just in case I have to leave
And I will go if you ask me to
I will stay if you dare
And if I go I'm goin' shameless
I'll let my hunger take me there
This house
She's quite the talker
She creeks and moans
She keeps me up
And the photographs
Know I'm a liar
They just laugh as I burn her down
And I will go if you ask me to
I will stay if you dare
And if I go I'm goin' on fire
Let my anger take me there
The shingles man they're shaking
Back door's burning through
This old house she's quite the keeper
Quite the keeper of you
I will go if you ask me to
I will stay if you dare
And if I go, I'm goin' crazy
Let my darlin' take me there
If I go, I'm goin' crazy
Let my darlin' take me there
Great video, really well explanined - sound is brilliant too

What guitar is that?
Do you have the whole TAB ?
What do you mean? Like a written out chord progression for the entire song? Unfortunately not...
What brand of guitar are you playing?

Looked through all the comments just to find this out. It’s a beautiful guitar 🤩
What kind of strings do you use?
I'm using the .012 elixir nanoweb strings. I think they have a really clear sound that lasts for a long time.
