  • Do you have hardware synth (analog) and want to record it in Cubase?
There are few ways you can record your synths in Cubase and I'm going to show you two options:
    1. Add Audio track and record the synth
    2. Create External Midi Device and load it into Instrument Track (cool)
    Chapters:
00:00 Let's connect our synth to Cubase and record
00:36 Method #1 for recording your synth with Cubase
04:19 Method #2 Creating External MIDI Device
08:40 Add panels to the Inspector with custom UI and Controls
12:37 Sequencing with Animation Station (review coming up soon)
I'm using my Behringer Odyssey for this tutorial but of course it will work with any synth.
First connect your synth audio out into your audio interface input and if it support MIDI connect the MIDI out to your audio interface or directly to the computer.
In this video I will explore a very cool way of configuring your external devices such as synths in Cubase. I'm using Cubase 11 Pro but I guess older versions will work the same with some screens different look.

Good to see someone even show anything about midi device way of doing things especially the panels part. I've used it for years now, it's so quick to get going once you learn how. Make one knob, ctrl+C, ctrl+V 7 times, select all of them, space evenly horizontal, set to param1, 2, 3, 4, 5. done. really underrated i think.

Thanks to you i could finally record my synthesizer's sound as midi file. Thank you veeery much 😊 👍
For those who recorded synth's sound as midi, and exported as wav, but the file was empty(no sound):
1.Do the method#1 in this video,
2.Create audio track (stereo) and just press record button. Recorded midi track will be converted in audio track, and it will finally play.

Hey there and thank you for this! I was trying to find something like this for awhile and your video was exactly what I was looking for. So, I did everything the same way as you in "Method 2" and my Hydrasynth did in fact create a midi file using my synthesizer's native sounds. Input on that channel is "All Midi Inputs" and output is the Midi Device I created per the instructions. The only issue I'm having is that while iI can the track has recorded midi, nothing is playing back. Anything I can try? Is it possible that I'm recording the music on the same keyboard I'm sending it back to? What I'm trying to do is record midi using the Hydrasynth, and then send the midi back out to the Hydrasynth using the sounds on that keyboard. (If I create a new Midi track (not an instrument track) and then drag the midi I just created, that I can hear)

    • @UDiAudio
      @UDiAudio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

To be honest I have no idea. It might be related to how this synth is handling incoming midi.. but really sorry I just don't know and it's hard to suggest something just based on your commnet here.

There is no easy way to do it. You have to connect your device and sample each note or sound in several velocities (if relevant). Plan ahead of time what you plan to do and make sure to name the samples correctly. Once you have all the samples you can use samplers like Groove Agent to create drum kits.

Device panel feature is pretty useless because snapshots don't work and you can't automate it or use quick controls. I wish I knew this before I wasted my time trying to make it work. There is potential but at current state it is pretty useless. It is nice to play with but you don't get anything useful when you try to do something with it.
