    i enjoy the fact that the sand is thrown into the water and the vessel is washed out to remove any traces that may remain. the only thing left to "value" is the experience.

    Not only does it show nothing lasts forever but it shows the beauty and mastery in what we can create and build and more importantly how we can let it go, detach, and not let the things we create control us

    This is very educational. People got all kinds of trouble that they just can't let go. Like something you've been working so long but have to let go, or a relationship that just messed up for so long you just can't figure out. I guess if one can get through a mandala once, then it should be much easier for them when it comes to let go something no matter how nice it was or how much effort you put.

    • @jackwisniewski3859
      @jackwisniewski3859 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I mean yes, but also no. this ritual applies partially since people wish to preserve this, but not entirely, since Norte Dame inst the creation of any of the people who wish to rebuild it. its kind of noble that people want to preserve a beautiful thing for posterity, and whilst i agree that we need to let go of things, i need to point out that our society is not built upon the values found in Buddhism and doesn't *really* come under its scrutiny. and if you wish to follow the values of buddhism then you are welcome, but you must accept other people have other values and some value the existence of notre dame.

    I could be wrong, but 1.) I'm pretty sure that the Dalai Lama isn't blind. He probably saw the cameras/camera men and photographers. 2.) isn't that a Buddhist monk @3:56 witha digital camera taking pictures of the process. I think the impermanence refers to the item itself, not the fact that it was made.
