Don't rely on a god or a figurehead to guide you in life, take the plunge, and realize every day is new and our time is short. We are not the center of the universe, and life is always going to have suffering, but without that suffering, we wouldn't have purpose to help and heal others in many ways, or inspire us like Herzog has to find our own meaning without the continued harm and manipulation of others to get close to what we believe we want. Chicken demonstrate cognitive skills on par with other mammals and primates. If you hide an object from a chicken, they will still know it's there - this is something even young human children aren't able to do. Even if they were uniquely dumb, it wouldn't justify the horrific things we do to them (cutting their beaks off, throwing baby chicks in blenders, feeding them until they're too obese to support their own body weight, killing and butchering them, etc.).
