I watch so many people but I love watching you and Becky from Acre Homestead because I guess you both always embrace the fact you aren't wonder woman and can't do everything yourself and if something slips through the cracks that's ok. You've both given me the courage to create a garden about 10x what I've had in the past. I've also found such joy in gardening now that I just never had before. So thank you for keeping it real and for just being such a calm, positive and genuine person. I really love that you treat yourself with such love and kindness, it's definitely a weakness for me. My advice unfollow the people that do give you anxiety. We have to give it all to God can be so hard but following or adding in the devil that works through people feeding more fear is not good for us or our souls. I pray that everyone you find on you tube is healthy for the soul mind and home. Your so right they keep it real and calm.

I also found out that since I've bought a big chest freezer, I waste almost zero food, because what you don't use you can freeze for later, you save money next time you need it and you don't feel bad for throwing anything away. Also, when a hard time comes, you are able to use this storage and survive on a smaller budget for a while. This kid of "food insurance" - freezing plus buying in bulk - is my greatest discovery this year, and it's also thanks to the channels like this.
I get so much information from your channel. I want you to know that watching you pressure can on an induction stove gave me the courage to try. My canner is induction compatible. But I was terrified by watching other pressure canners who were so negative about working with an induction stove. Now I am not just preserving for me, but for my family all over the state. I have a Nephew who called me after he got his first deer, and could not find a processor. I was able to teach him to use the pressure canner. We used all of the things that I was getting ready to donate, meat grinder, butchering saws. I felt God telling me "not yet" So the boxes sat. I am very glad I had not donated those. All i have to say is out of all 4 of the farms i watch and enjoy until i find my property After loosing 80 acres here in oregon Due to being shot off my horse and no help. My goal this year is to 1. Join you in the every little bit counts challenge 2. Creat enough tinctures, extracts and oils to last the winter and 3. Make my fall garden a lot bigger than my spring garden. Often my fall garden will last all the way until spring. Have a blessed day

This year is my first attempt at a fall garden. I'm excited about trying something new plus my summer garden had lots of struggles. It's been soooo hot! Zone 8b. Some things have done well, but not a single tomato or tamatillo! I've done what I've always done- I'm at a loss? I'm chalking it up to God teaching me what to do and not to do. Learning new skills is a both are blessing and a challenge. 🙏 Up for everyone's garden and harvest.
We got a great deal from a local farmer on tomatoes. He was selling huge, beautiful slicers 3 for $1. We got approx 50 lbs for $18. I cored them and put them in the freezer. I like doing that because the skin slips right off when they thaw. I'm mostly going to make basic tomato sauce and salsa. If our tomatoes & peppers keep coming in or we get some more from him, it'll be a rotel type project. Our tomatoes keep getting attacked by those ugly bugs that puncture little holes and drink the inside, I can't remember the name. One thing about the slicers is that I will be draining a lot of the juice & canning it rather than letting it evaporate. The skins will be dehydrated. We are having to really factor in fuel costs for farm produce. Happy canning and planning yall! We will be planning our fall garden soon. Our first isn't until around Thanksgiving at the earliest. Hopefully we'll still be getting some tomatoes too.
2 years ago I discovered that I don't have to peel and deseed my tomatoes. I froze them whole, minus the core. Then I thaw them and put them in my nesco roaster and heat them up. Then I put them in my vitamix and grind them up, peel, seeds and all. Then I use that to make my sauces, ketchup etc. So much easier than all that work I used to do.
Plant some sun flower near your tomatoes . Plant them at safe distance from corn ( yours or your neighbour's). You'll get rid of your tomatoe bugs problem. Look for companion planting for more info.
Living in New Zealand our seasons are reversed. Regularly follow your podcast and others that are similar. Admit that I have been heavily influenced by the depth of knowledge and that I have been more focused on harvesting and preserving rather than just eating from garden when it is producing. Reaping benefits. Hubby currently has covid so we both remain in isolation. 3 things only required to be dropped of by family. We have achieved greater level of self sufiency. I am limited by size of urban property and multiple sclerosis but able to achieve great results from 2 raised gardens.
I’m in BC Canada and it’s always so very interesting to watch all the different homesteaders from around the states etc and see how people do so much so differently my husband and I care for his grandmother and I have two little girls (5&1) if we ever have another I’ll be home on the full and I always raise our own beef and he just got us a larger piece of land! So now my garden can expand and I can try my best to fill a second freezer I just purchased with all veggies etc I’ve grown! Thank you for the inspiration!

I realize this is an older video however I really wanted to comment I love Aldi! We have been shopping there since 1992 I don't know when they opened but that is when a store opened in our area. To this day I love their products. Their bread is my favorite and we find many deals to help our food costs. This year I started canning again, we put up 56 quarts of green beans, 12 pints of tomato sauce and many quarts of salsa We live in Indiana and I will be planting broccoli and cabbage and cauliflower soon. We are very fortunate our local farm store does bring in plants. I have learned a lot from your channel even though I'm 60 yrs old We homescholled our 2 daughters when it wasn't as popular as today and they both are RNs so I guess we did OK Thank you for all your efforts you put into your videos. I for one really appreciate it!
Jessica, these days we must all think outside the box and stay on top of costs. It takes a lot of time and energy to compare and justify. I lived on the farm in the recession of the 80’s and worked in the city. It was a challenge and I found that planning was the key but auto pilot was not an option; you have to stay on top of world events and revisit the plan over and over. You have got a great system. I survived that downturn so can encourage you that there is hope this too shall pass. It is simply getting through it. You are doing all you can to do the best you can. I started a few years ago with a fall garden since the cabbage moth is crazy here in NJ. My best fall/winter/spring crop is collard greens! Snow, ice, low temps do not faze them. As long as they are at least a few inches tall by a hard frost they just chill out until spring and then boom!! Pests are nowhere to be seen by the time I harvest them. Also did my garlic over fall/winter and the plants look fantastic. Cant wait for the harvest.
I live in Ohio as well, and I cannot tell you how much this has helped me. I didn’t know I could find bulk items (like you said about the blueberries). I’m doing a fall garden this year too, and am so excited to learn new skills. Right now, I’m sitting on the porch swing, preparing green beans to can today. A lot of our gardens were flooded this year…. A night storm caused the water to come clear up to our porch steps. You probably will ever realize how much God is using you to bless other ladies. I think you do an amazing job. With gas prices rising so rapidly, many independent truckers aren't going to make it, which will reduce the supply, making prices go even higher, if things can be found at all. We all need to be doing this.
During my childhood in NC we always had a fall garden. My husband’s grandmother was from Indiana & grew potatoes in the fall in hay bales. She planted potatoes in the soil in the spring & did the hay bales in the fall.

I'm definitely taking advantage of a fall garden since rabbits have mowed down my beans and peas. I haven't even been successful with lettuces in spring/summer since my yard is 100% sun so I grow those in the fall. First time I'll be attempting brasicas though so I'm excited for that. I've broken up my Azure orders as well starting this past January. I now only order about every 3-4 months. I've been concerned about their costs increasing due to fuel (I've see some price increases at Azure too). Luckily my drop is actually closer than most of the grocery stores I go to but it's still a little bit of a drive. I don't order produce very often from Azure (besides citrus) so I don't have to worry about trying to order seasonal produce. I mainly stick to grains and beans and some misc items we enjoy from them. I've had some sticker shock from Aldi as well not to mention the shelves are so depleted at Aldi.
Oh my goodness Jessica. When you said "putt putt" golf, my memories of my dad came rushing into my mind. He always called miniature golf, putt putt golf. We highly recommend growing Georgia Candy Roaster squash. They are very prolific, grow huge and provide a lot of food. They MUST be planted away from other squash because they cross pollinate! They are very tasty and similar but sweeter than a butternut. Really appreciate your videos!
I grow black seeded Simpson lettuce and green salad bowl lettuce. It does great in the heat and when it's starts getting cool. I'm in NE Kansas. I'm going to start my fall garden plans soon also.
We don’t have any strict dietary restrictions in our household for allergies or anything, I have not tried azure because of that mostly. I do the bulk of my shopping at Aldi, a few brand specific things at Walmart and then a quarterly or more often trip to Sam’s club because it’s 90+ miles from us. I thoroughly enjoy seeing other people that are diligent in their shopping! *we raise all of our own meat I’ve realized this week that I need to not go in the stores and just do curbside because I have much better self control and control over my budget
Old Farmers Almanac has a Fall planting chart (& Spring) by frost date for ur zip code. I print mine out. They have lots of common crops that are available for Fall planting in ur area. It gives u seed starting dates, direct sow dates etc.

Jessica, have you checked with the Amish or Mennonite stores for bulk dry goods like oats, etc? I get organic oats, flours, etc. for almost half the price of retail. They even special order organic bread flours for me in 50# bags. I've saved quite a bit of money stocking up here in east Kansas. I too feel the gardening burn out in the fall, however I think it's important this year especially to get a fall garden going! Normally I don't spend much on food during the summer except for meat/fruit.....as you know having multiple kids (I have 4) food can get expensive real quick! I have so much stress and anxiety. Living alone in the family home since dad passed and realizing it needs thousands spent to keep it structurally sound. Dont have much space to grow food but have a few tomato and bean plants in tubs. Flowers getting dashed by rain before the fruits set. Oh well I enjoy trying. You are an inspiration, it must be so hard catering for allergies etc and still making delicious meals. Waiting to hear if I can get help under the green homes scheme to insulate etc, maybe even some solar panels. Im in the UK just north of London so may still get another tub going with peas.
another good one....one thing I would add is to watch for a store's "loss leader"....these are items that the store doesn't make any money on but uses it to entice you to come in and shop.....
I helped my grandma canning while I was growing up, but now I’m scared to do it because I have a glass top. But I need to free space out of my freezers. I have two and my husband told me he’s not buying another one. 🤣

I really love your channel. At first I was a little put off by the religiosity but now I realize you’re not evangelical or trying to push your beliefs on others. I very much believe in God, just not sure on the religion part. Anyway, I’ve had 4 MCs and your story has helped me. I’m finally pregnant again 13+4! And she’s growing beautifully. NIPT came back negative which is wonderful. I’ve never gotten to hear a HB before so I’m so grateful for this time. All I can do is pray and take it week by week.

I just found your channel and have been binge watching your videos, I love it! As a mom of 5 here I’m learning a lot from you that I think will help me dramatically I’m my homemaking! I really want to start my own garden, we don’t have a lot of space but could use my deck! You are right about Sams Club they don’t have much for organic, we get the frozen bags of organic blueberries and strawberries, they are both 3lb bags I believe and just under $10, and we get bags of organic carrots but that’s about it. Allergies make it hard, we are plant based, gluten free and grain free for me, avoid added sugars and additives but it’s doable! So I tried your blueberry muffin recipe today and my family loved them!! 😀 Yay for garden planning!

Even before gas prices went up I had to consider the gas for pick up for azure, for a long time our closest drop point was almost two hours away and now we have one about an hour away but delivery is almost always a day I work. I've utilized Amazon a lot and while more than azure, it gets delivered to my door regardless of work or not. I can't wait until our Aldi opens here! And definitely starting my fall garden and praying it goes better than my spring and summer one since it got so hot so quick, it didn't do too well
We have potato farmers who allow us to glean potatoes AFTER their harvest. That has helped us. Growing up my parents - with us 8 kids - would be able to fill our cellar with more potatoes than we could grow by asking permission of the potato farmers. It is one of the few crops we could have access to beyond what our garden provided. I still ask permission of the potato farmers here for our small household of 3.

This is so helpful and motivating! I’ve been doing a similar spreadsheet comparing Costco and Azure. We live 2 hrs away from the nearest Costco but we can have certain things shipped for free if we order $75+, and some individual things like diapers and baby wipes always ship free. Many things are cheaper at Costco but there are certain things, like organic wheat berries, that can only be gotten through Azure. But I like what you did with comparing local stores too! Definitely need to get more intentional about shopping.

Hi Jessica, I have started my first garden thanks to you. I have corn, cherry tomatoes, Serrano peppers, strawberries, bell peppers, kale, cabbage, lettuce and 1 tomatillo plants for salsas . In herbs I have camomile, sage, flat leaf parsley, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, basil, clover, stevia , and lemon grass. Lol can you tell I’m so excited 😆. We are in the same boat, we're just over the state line in Michigan to your north in a very rural area. About 45 minutes to an hour drive to nearest walmart/Meijer/kroger and much further for any Sam's Club or Costco. We have one small grocery store 10 miles away but the quality/price is not competitive at all and not the biggest selection. I try to shop 2x a month and order online and we have a dollar General in a nearby town. Our garden is helping though! We're on a very limited budget so gas is a big deal right now.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the issue I have with Amazon is there are so many scammers. They take the original item out of the package and replace with a subpar item. I stopped purchasing all supplements through them because of this issue. Items aren't always coming from the Amazon warehouse. Occasionally if Vitacost has a sale they are competitive. We've so done really well at sharp shopper.
I really enjoy hearing your thought processes on these things. I have four small children and can’t homestead yet, but I make a lot from scratch and love to price compare. I’m still figuring out the gardening thing as we only have a small garden this year.
It is definitely worth doing the price comparison, especially between Amazon and Azure. Not only am I finding the quite a few things like coconut milk and bulk spices are often significantly cheaper on Amazon, but at least I know I’m going to get the item and in a timely manner. It is always a crapshoot, especially lately, if I will actually get the items I ordered from azure standard.
Azure Standards prices for wheat berries and oats can’t be beat. Don’t forget free shipping with Sam’s Plus. We use that a lot. We have a chain called Fareway here that’s also very economical in addition to Aldi. Bountiful Baskets is another great source for bulk produce.
I so enjoy your videos and ig channel. I have limited my ig screen time every day, but always enjoy popping in to see your feed as well as Ruth Ann Zimmerman's feed. Very encouraging content. Azure has always seemed way too costly for our family as I am a really careful budgeter. We are fortunate to have some smaller markets nearby that often offer outstanding buys on organic fruits and veggies. In addition, our home is a pickup location for a large CSA of an organic farm. The shareholders often forget or choose not to pick up their weekly organic box and I am able to keep or distribute. Such a blessing!

You can put covers over your fall garden. I want you to be aware of that. Here in Oklahoma we can almost garden year round. If you have a high tunnel. That might be your next project. Not that difficult to do.

I used to listen to stories of people who went through the depression. They learned to live without and every penny counts. I watched women find their best deals at various stores and drive an efficient route to maximize their savings.
I have been saving receipts and meaning to make a spreadsheet. You have inspired me to get it done!

This year is my first attempt at a fall garden. I'm excited about trying something new plus my summer garden had lots of struggles. It's been soooo hot! Zone 8b.
Some things have done well, but not a single tomato or tamatillo! I've done what I've always done- I'm at a loss?
I'm chalking it up to God teaching me what to do and not to do. Learning new skills is a both are blessing and a challenge.

We got a great deal from a local farmer on tomatoes. He was selling huge, beautiful slicers 3 for $1. We got approx 50 lbs for $18. I cored them and put them in the freezer. I like doing that because the skin slips right off when they thaw. I'm mostly going to make basic tomato sauce and salsa. If our tomatoes & peppers keep coming in or we get some more from him, it'll be a rotel type project. Our tomatoes keep getting attacked by those ugly bugs that puncture little holes and drink the inside, I can't remember the name. One thing about the slicers is that I will be draining a lot of the juice & canning it rather than letting it evaporate. The skins will be dehydrated. We are having to really factor in fuel costs for farm produce. Happy canning and planning yall! We will be planning our fall garden soon. Our first isn't until around Thanksgiving at the earliest. Hopefully we'll still be getting some tomatoes too.
2 years ago I discovered that I don't have to peel and deseed my tomatoes. I froze them whole, minus the core. Then I thaw them and put them in my nesco roaster and heat them up. Then I put them in my vitamix and grind them up, peel, seeds and all. Then I use that to make my sauces, ketchup etc. So much easier than all that work I used to do.
Plant some sun flower near your tomatoes . Plant them at safe distance from corn ( yours or your neighbour's). You'll get rid of your tomatoe bugs problem. Look for companion planting for more info.
Living in New Zealand our seasons are reversed. Regularly follow your podcast and others that are similar. Admit that I have been heavily influenced by the depth of knowledge and that I have been more focused on harvesting and preserving rather than just eating from garden when it is producing.
Reaping benefits. Hubby currently has covid so we both remain in isolation. 3 things only required to be dropped of by family. We have achieved greater level of self sufiency.
I am limited by size of urban property and multiple sclerosis but able to achieve great results from 2 raised gardens.

I’m in BC Canada and it’s always so very interesting to watch all the different homesteaders from around the states etc and see how people do so much so differently my husband and I care for his grandmother and I have two little girls (5&1) if we ever have another I’ll be home on the full and I always raise our own beef and he just got us a larger piece of land! So now my garden can expand and I can try my best to fill a second freezer I just purchased with all veggies etc I’ve grown! Thank you for the inspiration!

I realize this is an older video however I really wanted to comment I love Aldi! We have been shopping there since 1992 I don't know when they opened but that is when a store opened in our area. To this day I love their products. Their bread is my favorite and we find many deals to help our food costs. This year I started canning again, we put up 56 quarts of green beans, 12 pints of tomato sauce and many quarts of salsa
We live in Indiana and I will be planting broccoli and cabbage and cauliflower soon. We are very fortunate our local farm store does bring in plants. I have learned a lot from your channel even though I'm 60 yrs old
We homescholled our 2 daughters when it wasn't as popular as today and they both are RNs so I guess we did OK

Jessica, these days we must all think outside the box and stay on top of costs. It takes a lot of time and energy to compare and justify. I lived on the farm in the recession of the
80’s and worked in the city. It was a challenge and I found that planning was the key but auto pilot was not an option; you have to stay on top of world events and revisit the plan over and over. You have got a great system. I survived that downturn so can encourage you that there is hope this too shall pass. It is simply getting through it. You are doing all you can to do the best you can. I have come to the same conclusions with my grocery budget. Azure not only has good prices, you can’t beat the quality of their food.
I started a few years ago with a fall garden since the cabbage moth is crazy here in NJ. My best fall/winter/spring crop is collard greens! Snow, ice, low temps do not faze them. As long as they are at least a few inches tall by a hard frost they just chill out until spring and then boom!! Pests are nowhere to be seen by the time I harvest them. Also did my garlic over fall/winter and the plants look fantastic. Cant wait for the harvest.
I live in Ohio as well, and I cannot tell you how much this has helped me. I didn’t know I could find bulk items (like you said about the blueberries). I’m doing a fall garden this year too, and am so excited to learn new skills. Right now, I’m sitting on the porch swing, preparing green beans to can today. A lot of our gardens were flooded this year…. A night storm caused the water to come clear up to our porch steps. You probably will ever realize how much God is using you to bless other ladies. I think you do an amazing job. With gas prices rising so rapidly, many independent truckers aren't going to make it, which will reduce the supply, making prices go even higher, if things can be found at all. We all need to be doing this.
During my childhood in NC we always had a fall garden. My husband’s grandmother was from Indiana & grew potatoes in the fall in hay bales. She planted potatoes in the soil in the spring & did the hay bales in the fall.
Hi Jessica… great information! Love the price comparisons. Quick tip… if you put all that information into an excel spreadsheet you can quickly and conveniently cost compare weekly, monthly, yearly. An additional bonus you don’t have to worry about filing your comparison table… it is just right there on the computer! I'm definitely taking advantage of a fall garden since rabbits have mowed down my beans and peas. I haven't even been successful with lettuces in spring/summer since my yard is 100% sun so I grow those in the fall. First time I'll be attempting brasicas though so I'm excited for that.
I've broken up my Azure orders as well starting this past January. I now only order about every 3-4 months. I've been concerned about their costs increasing due to fuel (I've see some price increases at Azure too). Luckily my drop is actually closer than most of the grocery stores I go to but it's still a little bit of a drive. I don't order produce very often from Azure (besides citrus) so I don't have to worry about trying to order seasonal produce. I mainly stick to grains and beans and some misc items we enjoy from them.
I've had some sticker shock from Aldi as well not to mention the shelves are so depleted at Aldi.
Oh my goodness Jessica. When you said "putt putt" golf, my memories of my dad came rushing into my mind. He always called miniature golf, putt putt golf. In my area of eastern PA it's usually called miniature golf. Thank you for taking the time to share your family with us. We highly recommend growing Georgia Candy Roaster squash. They are very prolific, grow huge and provide a lot of food. They MUST be planted away from other squash because they cross pollinate! They are very tasty and similar but sweeter than a butternut. Really appreciate your videos!
I grow black seeded Simpson lettuce and green salad bowl lettuce. It does great in the heat and when it's starts getting cool. I'm in NE Kansas. I'm going to start my fall garden plans soon also.

We don’t have any strict dietary restrictions in our household for allergies or anything, I have not tried azure because of that mostly. I do the bulk of my shopping at Aldi, a few brand specific things at Walmart and then a quarterly or more often trip to Sam’s club because it’s 90+ miles from us. I thoroughly enjoy seeing other people that are diligent in their shopping! *we raise all of our own meat
I’ve realized this week that I need to not go in the stores and just do curbside because I have much better self control and control over my budget
You can still grow brussel sprout not for the sprouts BUT for the leaves ps let them get a good frost and the taste like butter.
Old Farmers Almanac has a Fall planting chart (& Spring) by frost date for ur zip code. I print mine out. They have lots of common crops that are available for Fall planting in ur area. It gives u seed starting dates, direct sow dates etc.
WalMart prices don’t seem to be as competitive as they used to be.

Jessica, have you checked with the Amish or Mennonite stores for bulk dry goods like oats, etc? I get organic oats, flours, etc. for almost half the price of retail. They even special order organic bread flours for me in 50# bags. I've saved quite a bit of money stocking up here in east Kansas. I too feel the gardening burn out in the fall, however I think it's important this year especially to get a fall garden going! Normally I don't spend much on food during the summer except for meat/fruit.....as you know having multiple kids (I have 4) food can get expensive real quick! Definitely grateful for tips on how to pinch pennies a little on food! Thank you!
I have so much stress and anxiety. Living alone in the family home since dad passed and realizing it needs thousands spent to keep it structurally sound. Dont have much space to grow food but have a few tomato and bean plants in tubs. Flowers getting dashed by rain before the fruits set. Oh well I enjoy trying. You are an inspiration, it must be so hard catering for allergies etc and still making delicious meals. Waiting to hear if I can get help under the green homes scheme to insulate etc, maybe even some solar panels. Im in the UK just north of London so may still get another tub going with peas.

I helped my grandma canning while I was growing up, but now I’m scared to do it because I have a glass top. But I need to free space out of my freezers. I have two and my husband told me he’s not buying another one. 🤣

I really love your channel. At first I was a little put off by the religiosity but now I realize you’re not evangelical or trying to push your beliefs on others. I very much believe in God, just not sure on the religion part. Anyway, I’ve had 4 MCs and your story has helped me. I’m finally pregnant again 13+4! And she’s growing beautifully. NIPT came back negative which is wonderful. I’ve never gotten to hear a HB before so I’m so grateful for this time. All I can do is pray and take it week by week.

You are right about Sams Club they don’t have much for organic, we get the frozen bags of organic blueberries and strawberries, they are both 3lb bags I believe and just under $10, and we get bags of organic carrots but that’s about it. Allergies make it hard, we are plant based, gluten free and grain free for me, avoid added sugars and additives but it’s doable!
So I tried your blueberry muffin recipe today and my family loved them!! 😀

Even before gas prices went up I had to consider the gas for pick up for azure, for a long time our closest drop point was almost two hours away and now we have one about an hour away but delivery is almost always a day I work. I've utilized Amazon a lot and while more than azure, it gets delivered to my door regardless of work or not. I can't wait until our Aldi opens here! And definitely starting my fall garden and praying it goes better than my spring and summer one since it got so hot so quick, it didn't do too well

Walmart currently has the 1/2 gallon mason jars for 6/$14.00. They were $8.00 each at Amazon. Inn case anyone needs them!
We have potato farmers who allow us to glean potatoes AFTER their harvest. That has helped us. Growing up my parents - with us 8 kids - would be able to fill our cellar with more potatoes than we could grow by asking permission of the potato farmers. It is one of the few crops we could have access to beyond what our garden provided. I still ask permission of the potato farmers here for our small household of 3.

This is so helpful and motivating! I’ve been doing a similar spreadsheet comparing Costco and Azure. We live 2 hrs away from the nearest Costco but we can have certain things shipped for free if we order $75+, and some individual things like diapers and baby wipes always ship free. Many things are cheaper at Costco but there are certain things, like organic wheat berries, that can only be gotten through Azure. But I like what you did with comparing local stores too! Definitely need to get more intentional about shopping.

Hi Jessica, I have started my first garden thanks to you. I have corn, cherry tomatoes, Serrano peppers, strawberries, bell peppers, kale, cabbage, lettuce and 1 tomatillo plants for salsas . In herbs I have camomile, sage, flat leaf parsley, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, basil, clover, stevia , and lemon grass. Lol can you tell I’m so excited 😆. We are in the same boat, we're just over the state line in Michigan to your north in a very rural area. About 45 minutes to an hour drive to nearest walmart/Meijer/kroger and much further for any Sam's Club or Costco. We have one small grocery store 10 miles away but the quality/price is not competitive at all and not the biggest selection. I try to shop 2x a month and order online and we have a dollar General in a nearby town. Our garden is helping though! We're on a very limited budget so gas is a big deal right now.
You are so organized and get so much done all day long. Today I canned 14 pints ham and bean soup and plan another batch next week.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the issue I have with Amazon is there are so many scammers. They take the original item out of the package and replace with a subpar item. I stopped purchasing all supplements through them because of this issue. Items aren't always coming from the Amazon warehouse. Occasionally if Vitacost has a sale they are competitive. We've so done really well at sharp shopper.

I really enjoy hearing your thought processes on these things. I have four small children and can’t homestead yet, but I make a lot from scratch and love to price compare. I’m still figuring out the gardening thing as we only have a small garden this year.
I live in a farming community and the local stores don't have garden plants after spring, and mostly no seed either.
It is definitely worth doing the price comparison, especially between Amazon and Azure. Not only am I finding the quite a few things like coconut milk and bulk spices are often significantly cheaper on Amazon, but at least I know I’m going to get the item and in a timely manner. It is always a crapshoot, especially lately, if I will actually get the items I ordered from azure standard.
Azure Standards prices for wheat berries and oats can’t be beat. Don’t forget free shipping with Sam’s Plus. We use that a lot. We have a chain called Fareway here that’s also very economical in addition to Aldi. Bountiful Baskets is another great source for bulk produce.

I so enjoy your videos and ig channel. I have limited my ig screen time every day, but always enjoy popping in to see your feed as well as Ruth Ann Zimmerman's feed. Very encouraging content. Azure has always seemed way too costly for our family as I am a really careful budgeter. We are fortunate to have some smaller markets nearby that often offer outstanding buys on organic fruits and veggies. In addition, our home is a pickup location for a large CSA of an organic farm. The shareholders often forget or choose not to pick up their weekly organic box and I am able to keep or distribute. Such a blessing!

You can put covers over your fall garden. I want you to be aware of that. Here in Oklahoma we can almost garden year round. If you have a high tunnel. That might be your next project. Not that difficult to do.
