4:10 I call this one "Slide grip" and use it on Quest 3 controllers. Because it's like default one, but you slide down the controllers. Never seen anybody else use it up till now.
I've been playing beat saber on PSVR2 for 2 years now, but this was actually pretty informative. I didn't know about the weird smoothing thing I expected it to not be good at speed, lol, but for everything else I've found it to be pretty good I would say I'm more than a casual player because I've been beating more high-level Ex+ maps, which is why I've been thinking about selling it and buying quest so I can mod the game and play custom maps
I had the opportunity to use a PSVR2 a long while ago when visiting my bf who owns one and uses it as his main HMD on PCVR now thanks for the PC support. I thought that the controllers felt clunky, too thick at the grip, and were unbalanced for beat saber. The smoothing was incredibly apparent too, I knew I wasn't swinging so weirdly and that it was something else. Another thing was the headset fit itself. It didn't sit properly on my head no matter how much I adjusted or tightened the headset, it ended up moving further up my head when playing causing the focus sweet spot to move outside of my vision and causing the game to appear blurry. The resolution is fantastic, combining that with the OLED panels and its the nicest visual experience of any headset I've tried, beating the Quest 3 simply because of OLED. It's a nice headset for anything outside of beat saber to be honest. The hmd comfortability was only found in beat saber and other games it wasn't as much of an issue or could be recified easily.
2:55 I've been using my PSVR2 near daily since February 2023 and I use it for VR fitness games including Beat Saber, Box To The Beat VR, Crazy Kung Fu and other sweat inducing games. My anti-glare / anti-reflective coating remains good as new and the only thing I use to clean is dry microfiber cloth and very rarely some lens cleaning spray (from optician that is safe to use on coated glasses). This has been my cleaning standard since PSVR1 starting October 2016, then on to Quest 2 starting October 2020 and I also have Quest 3. They all get cleaned this way and all remain in good as new condition on the lens (the rubber / silicon visor has clear signs of wear & tear especially my PSVR1). 3:05 You are reviewing PSVR2 for Beat Saber on used PSVR2 with damaged anti-glare lens and then finding it to not be good. That's weird. 4:21 The controller smoothing issue you are demonstrating hasn't been an issue to me playing on PS5 and recently upgraded to PS5 Pro up to Expert level. My brain can't handle the speed of the game on Expert+, so up to Expert is my sweet spot. Anyway, learning about this controller smoothing difference was interesting to me. Do you know if the smoothing is only for PCVR or also on PS5 / PS5 Pro? If not felt in what I play up to the speed (Expert) I can handle.
1) I'm glad you had a good experience but unfortunately many people had issues with the lenses. 2) And I took that into account. Notice I didn't have complaints about the visuals apart from the fact that it doesn't use Pancake lenses. 3) Perhaps I should've made it clearer, this issue only exists when using the PSVR 2 on PC. I don't expect pro players to be playing on PS5 (not in an elitist way, just because it's not moddable).
@@noam15A You rated it bottom tier across many devices where only 1 has pancake lens even after you said of the headsets with fresnel lenses, the PSVR2 is the best. So I assume the only real issue you have is with the smoothing you are experiencing with the controllers which is something I haven't felt on the PS5 or PS5 Pro. If the smoothing issue you demonstrated indeed only exists when using PSVR2 with PC Adapter, that is probably something that should have been made clearer. Appreciate the thoughtful reply.
@@cusman PSVR 2 is still bottom tier for competitive Beat Saber even on PS5... Because you can't play competitively with it... Because there's no mods...
@@noam15A Your video title isn't "Is PSVR 2 good for Beat Saber competitive on PC because mods". I don't care for any PC game online leaderboards because mods = easy cheating. Online leaderboards are only worth competing on (for me) when everyone is playing the same game on essentially same hardware.
while I agree it sucks for competitive beat saber, if you don't care too much about beat saber or competitive VR, it's such an amazing PCVR headset. The combo of the fov, oled, resolution, and lack of compression makes the immersion level like 5x compared to the quest 3. I feel much more of a sense of presence compared to the quest 3
I somewhat agree. I think for different people and different games, the best choice could be either the PSVR 2 or the Quest 3. Personally I'd pay a little extra for the Quest 3 in most games just because I love the pancake lenses.
Looking at the tier list at the end, Quest Pro should never be used for beat saber. Sweat can completely fry the eye tracking permanently if you sweat a lot. If you use it for beat saber, please be mindful of this.
I know Quest 3 is S tier but recently my quest has started losing tracking on jumps and then pausing mid-map. It hasn't always been like this but I am not sure how to fix it. I'm playing on desktop using VD at 120hz, Wifi 6E.
I have the Quest 3 and I'm playing the Beat Saber version that is natively installed on the Quest 3 itself (not from a PC). I don't feel like it's an S-tier kind of headset for Beat Saber, to be honest. I feel like the tracking isn't the best. When you put the Quest 3 in the S-tier, do you mean when it's connected to a PC and using the Pro controllers instead of the ones that come with the headset? Or do you rate it S as the raw device with the controllers that come with it? I'm really looking forward to your answer! Thanks.
I only considered the Quest 3 for PCVR. It isn't S tier on standalone compared to the other headsets just because PCVR is way superior to standalone imo. If you have poor tracking, make sure to enable hand tracking in the settings. It uses the hand tracking data to improve the controller tracking quality.
Do you think the playstation move controllers would be good for beat saber? It looks like the shape of the sabers but getting them to work on pcvr might not
I knew the PSVR2's tracking felt worse than quest link's swingbug but didn't know it was a software issue. I would ditch standalone Quest 3 if PSVR2 didn't have this horrendous motion smoothing. Also, if it weren't for the horrible controller smoothing, what tier would you put the PSVR2 in?
Also haptic feedback/rumble on psvr 2 controllers is delayed. Tested on my own. I would only recommend this headset if you do own vive knuckles and base stations. Then you can do MixedVR (use psvr2 headset and valve controllers)
For comfort I (and most other psvr2 users) recommend the globular cluster mod. I couldn’t wear the headset for more than 40 minutes before, now I’ve played games for multiple hours
There is also a mod by the same company for the controllers, but I don’t have personal experience with that, but it might be worth looking into. Overall I love the headset and despite having plenty of issues with it, I’ll be sticking with it until Quest can achieve the same colours/brightness
Hi! Sorry for asking but could you make a wireless quest 3 app comparison? AirLink vs Wired Link vs Steam Link vs Virtual Desktop I prefer playing on Steam Link now, but don't know what are the drawbacks for beat saber and how much wired could be better
In theory, wireless could be better than wired because of lower latency. I wish I had enough time on hand to properly set up wireless without it being a stuttery nightmare. But alas.
@flamyf That's because Quest goes through additional translation layers (not sure what they're actually called though) when connecting to PC. Each one adds latency. With wireless, there're simply less of them. So even if individually each adds more, in total it's still less.
@@flamyf The official Quest Link is very inefficient, unlike Steam Link and VD. They're so much better that with ideal WiFi you can get a lower latency.
As mentioned in the video, Quest 3. Just because of the Pancake lenses. Some might prefer PSVR 2 because of the higher brightness and having no compression.
That to me is the lamest game. I don’t want to get in VR to swing around swords to a beat if you want that feeling, but feel like a badass, get Pistol Whip.
Pistol whip uses more muscles. However, it's nowhere near beatsaber in terms of testing your reaction and speed. Go see players beat Accelerate if you don't believe me. They're different kind of the same flavour, really.
