What we need is PS VR to Lobby's only time in pcvr that way we all have to check our rearview to see how far the person is behind us or they can have somebody in the pit in our ears telling us how far the car is ahead of us or behind us like other games the graphics are awesome too don't let him fool you it's still a mind-blowing experience every time I load up

I only play GT7 in VR. Yes, the hud is flawed and seat positioning would be nice, but I'm at the point where I accept these things will never be added.
If you could get the pit crew to announce "P2 just pitted", "P5 exiting pits on your right", they dont need to go to the effort for the crew to pronounce gamer id names or car makes... Would be a simple addition for vr users.
I'm not a competitive driver in GT7 but the first thing I noticed was the lower framerate and picture quality in VR compared to 2D mode. It's just a much smoother experience in 4k 2D 120hz. The missing bars/stats overlays are a ridiculous flaw indeed. It should be so easy to fix.
Probably have an old unit. The picture in the VR headset is better than anything you are going to get on a TV. Not even a comparison. The mura on the original PS VR2 headsets are pretty bad though. New headsets it's hardly there.
PD just needs to put all the data, like add the needed screens, in the switchable section where the weather, brake balance, traction control etc. is. It seems like a no brainer to me that this screen ( that is the one with the positions and pit info) could be one of the options to scroll through. It’s coming soon I hope. PSVR2 is awesome to drive with!
The picture in this video is extremely jumpy and jittery. Why is that? Is it because of the car? I know those kinds of cars have very stiff suspensions, but like at 3:05 he's going very slow. I'm thinking of starting sim racing with PSVR2 and am a little scared by this jumpiness I'm seeing here. Is it the way the VR content is getting recorded for this video and not what I will be experiencing when racing with the VR?
All the videos you'll see will be different to the experience in the headset, I explain here: th-cam.com/video/NvajYqgA1Bw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Whq1tUJuSC8dSopR
Don't worry, that is typical about viewing VR gameplay. It's just his headmovement. You might not realise it, but you always make micro-movements with your head and the rendered image needs to go with your view. As he is also talking while playing, those head movements are even stronger. If you're the one with the headset on, you won't notice these movements.
Lets be honest the game is very much lacking in terms of customization compared to other racing games in both VR and flat screen. We're given a choice of all or nothing for car and race information and cant omit individual items or choose the size or placement of where they're displayed. Penalties are displayed smack dab in the middle of the screen for long periods of time on large tracks. Greater camera customization is also sorely needed. Why on earth is the hood camera placed 5 feet above the car? Just compare the camera elevation to another car as you pass it and you'll see the flaw. Its as if you're driving a monster truck. The game is over two years old and qol improvements have been completely absent since launch.
Own a PSVR2 since release to enjoy this game as competitively as it will allow me to be. Kerith is 100% correct. My biggest gripe is also the HUD. Also not knowing when people go to pit, or the overall time gap to the race leader is frustrating not to see the info. Keep banging the drum 🥁 for us PSVR2 users Kerith. Also, compare the HUD options from project cars 2. You could edit the HUD to you liking as to what you wanted on or off and where you placed it around your screen!!
Have you had issues with the headset just crashing or somehow losing tracking, kicking you out of a race? I really like wearing it for racing as it helps with spotting my braking points and apexes better, but it has failed on me too many times in Sport mode to recommend using it for multiplayer - maybe its my headset, but it isn't reliable enough for live races.
It’s just the vibration effect off of how the psvr2 broadcasts the game on the screen with the headset on, when you actually see it there’s not really a shakiness
Recently picked up a PS5 and PSVR2 for GT7 now I don’t competitively track race I’m one of the people that do roll racing online, but I can agree definitely need a HUD update for VR2 like in some of my cars I don’t know what speed I’m going either cause the dash is analog and stops or digital and in kmh so it makes it hard to even tune my transmission in VR also some cars redline on the dash way before they actually redline so I lose shift points in some cars kinda just gotta guess
Thanks for your honest review, and I do totally agree on the points you are making. I do use the PSVR2 every time in GT7 and for me personally I got so used to it, it's really hard for me to switch back to 2D. The thing I'm curious about is, what will the PS5 Pro bring for the VR experience in GT7, we have to wait to find out.
Not true what you are saying. I am 80 position global at daily race B. Playing with VR since day 1. You need to adapt and learn to race with it if you want to be competitive 👍
all i want is the top left tree with gaps, a moveable rev bar, a set vr position meaning if i look right as i come out of the pits or starting the race i shouldn’t have to press the reset button to look forwards again and lastly an adjustable seating height as i sit way too high up in some cars (this could be fixed at the same time as the previous wish too)
I think that even in 2D, polyphony should allow us to customize the HUD. Sometimes i want a clean HUD, with only the map and i cant do that. Its all or nothing
I’m not a competitive player myself and racing games are something I casually enjoyed most my life . I love it in vr though , truly a next level experience . I can see how missing hud features could be annoying for those who are competitive though . My experience is quite limited admittedly as I only got a psvr2 and gt7 a week ago
I just want car-locked view and more pages in the MFD in the car, stuff like splits and people's lap times etc. I do not want more shit on the HUD. It is already too cluttered, I want ALL of that moved to the MFD if possible. Sometimes I just turn off everything and try to keep track of stuff in my head. Low success rate. I drive Ferrari 458 almost exclusively, and it has the best rev bar in the car, no need for that on the HUD for me, but it would be nice for those who need it.
I agree with your talking points about psvr2. I love the immersion of the game but yes 💯 agree the hud has to improve. I don’t mind the lack of 4k resolution which is totally understandable but for sure the in game improvements can and should have an update. 🍻
I bought my own PS5 and pavr2. The only "problem" with gt7 in VR is the loss of fine detail but the fun factor well overides any nerd stuff like not being able to see characters on a sign. The hud could with an upgrade but everything you need to know to drive the car on the ragged edge is displayed on the dashboard so...yeah, if you want to enjoy Gran tourismo 7, VR is hands down the best way to do it. Playing it flat is pretty damn lame after vr but If your hell bent on clicking up and down gears at the perfect time in a robot like fashion then you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess, and use your rev meter.
Gt7 on vr2 is night and day. I can’t play in 2D anymore. I agree with the HUD complaints, if I have the weird floaty menu I don’t know why we can’t also have time to driver ahead and behind, I personally wouldn’t use a rev limiter I just listen to the car but it wouldn’t hurt to add it It’s deffo not 4k but your eyes do adjust If your trying to decided whether to get it or not I would say only buy it if you play A LOT of GT7 bc there aren’t many other games you can use it with and it’s not worth £500 to use it every now and then
Am I the only one that gets sick with all the motion going on? Maybe it's different when you're actually wearing the headset but just watching the recording in 2D is sickening.
My thoughts on this: Put the intervals/leaderboard on the MFD Rev meter I'm not so fussed about. I either listen to the engine for the sweet spot or most of the cars I use already have a usable rev meter or shift lights
Inside-out tracking relies on being able to see your environment, your room lacks good lighting and that's why it loses tracking, those purple lights don't help either because it's also looking for contrast. You could get an IR illuminatior to illuminate your room, and since it's IR it's only going to be seen by the headset cameras. You'll even be able to play in a pitch black room if you wanted lol. Just point the IR light at the ceiling to bounce the light, you don't get good results if you aim the light at the headset itself.
only just started using vr2 for GT7 and agree with visual quality as being pretty disappointing. But at least I had seen one of your videos beforehand so I was forewarned. I'm not good enough at GT7 to worry about competitiveness, but would like an update which gives VR a 3rd option; Standing, sitting, race sim. For "race sim" mode and this tells the headset to just use the steering wheel as it's only reference point. Or use some sort of fixed position based on in car eye location. I also want to be able to offset the default positioning up/down, left/right, back/forward to feel more natural to me. Lock that in and just leave that as my "seated position" for calculating what this is per vehicle.
Completely agree. I've been playing 90% in VR and the lack of updates is disappointing (but also not surprising given their approach on GT Sport...) In VR customization should be the name of the game, not a barebones implementation. I love your suggestion of a HUD toggle button! We should have a proximity warning too. In 2D it is easy to look at the radar, but in VR it is off center so it is very hard. I also struggle a lot during rainy tracks because of all the grey increasing SDE, but I am hoping PS5 Pro can give it the additional power they need to increase resolution. It should avoid 120hz reprojection and only use native 90hz
I agree that the VR is limiting as I would like to see where the other drivers are on the track. It only shows when you are in the pit. I would like to at least have the rev bar in front of me. A couple of cars don't have the cockpit view, so it is like your head is out of the sun roof. And for me, if I am warm, it fogs my glasses. With all that, the VR is great in an open cockpit car.
Even speaking as someone not very skilled and playing just for a little bit of fun, I completely agree. The rev counter is less of an issue for me, but it's really annoying not knowing how far behind or ahead I am, or knowing when the CPU cars are pitting, etc. It surely can't be a big deal to add.
The argument that there's a lack of HUD options in VR is valid. Seems like an oversight of the devs that could be hopefully rectified with an update someday. The issue with the reprojection is also valid. I wish there was an option to run it natively at 90 instead. Maybe the Pro will be able to run it without reprojection if you can afford one. I also think playing in VR with a wheel is far better than VR with controller. But if someone says they're not as good when playing in VR as opposed to flat screen it doesn't make playing it on flat screen better than VR. Someone who has only played GT7 on flat screen will obviously be better playing it that way because over the long amount of time you've been playing it you have gotten familiar with the mechanics and timing and overall feel for the driving. When suddenly jumping into VR it will obviously feel much different and will throw off your gameplay you're so familiar with. I on the other hand barely play racing games so I suck at GT7 but when I played it in VR I was instantly driving significantly better than I did on flat screen. This is because playing it on flat screen doesn't feel like you're actually driving but it's more about memorized timing with button presses on a controller to control a car you're watching drive rather than driving yourself and because I lack the practice of playing it this way I suck at it. Playing in VR I automatically understood how to drive better because I can drive in real life. I'm not saying I can race better and beat someone playing it on flat screen. But I feel if someone wanted to be competitive in VR they could play the courses over and over and get better and better at timing for breaking, shifting ect. ect. just like someone playing it on flat screen. I guess a really good experiment would be to have the best GT7 player race against the best real life race car driver playing in VR and see who would win. 😂 -Also, I will always take a game with less visual fidelity in order to play it in VR. Immersion > graphics.
Stereoscopic lenses at 240hz on a flat screen creates as much depth perception. And with eye tracking it has no downsides of headaches, motion sickness or sinus pressure. Depth perception technology both uncomfortable VR headsets and tracking with alternating glasses/helmet lenses are very useful tools
Regarding the HUD, I think the HUD needs a complete overhaul in general, not just in VR. We NEED a fully customisable HUD, where we can move HUD elements around the screen where we’d prefer them and ALSO to be able to remove HUD elements that we don’t want on screen. I honestly don’t know why HUD design is lost on game devs. Not just GT, but there are so many games where the devs just don’t seem to have a clue what the players want. The face palm is real.
I doubt that. Even a 2000 USD GPU on PC cant run ACC maxed out at 90 FPS in VR. But there is hope that Sony has some tricks in the pocket to make 90 FPS possible.
@@Sele81 console and pc working in a different way...in paper gt7 can not run even this 60 to 120 reprojection on ps5...but works..so lets see...even 90 native will be big improvement
This train actually goes up these mountains to the Jungfrau Joch in a tunnel. In the Eigernordwand there is a stop with a viewpoint like in the pit entry.
You are correct the GT7 image quality is nothing like the 4k flat screen but playing games like No mans sky or resident evil is just stunning in PSVR2 and this showcases the potential for future games.
Currently researching the current state of VR gaming and whether to go Playstation or PC if I want to go that route. I see strengths and weaknesses based on my own personal preferences for both options as always. In any case, good information here for this specific game. I understand the case being made in terms of competitive play. However such things also depend on a level playing field in every way possible. In this kind of competition everyone would be using VR and no 2D monitor setup. All things being equal some competitors will still excel in spite of the missing HUD element while others will not. Those that can will have an edge. Those that cannot will need to learn and gain experience. Thats me being Captain Obvious of course. So perhaps these kinds of 'better/worse' comparisons are inherently pointless. Its like trying to have PC vs console arguments for a particular game. Same game, vastly different user experiences. Maybe we are now venturing into the 2D vs VR wars.
I disagree with your HUD issues. Since this is supposed to be a SIM, not an arcade game, realism is where it is at. The fact that you need the HUD to be in the top 100 negates the accolade IMO. If you are going for realism, then you should have ONLY what the actual car would have as if you were actually driving it in real life. Any crutch that is used turns this into an arcade game and takes it out of the sim category IMO. BTW, I track my 718 GT4 in real life and there is no HUD that follows my head movements. Just saying call a spade a spade and not pretend it is something different.
I have a psvr2 and dont mind not having the hud. Doesn't matter to me. Those who say, "You don't have a hud in real life" are right but you do have a team who are in communication with you telling you what other racers are doing. The hud is a simulation of that so people who race online need that if their competitive. As far as the negatives, they dont bother me. I like the emersion which is just fun and thats what im looking for.
I'm with you Kireth, I'm lucky because I love a chill singleplayer experience. I never use my headset when I decide to do sweaty singleplayer or anything multiplayer.
I totally get your points and the PsVR2 really has some flaws. But when it runs it is such a great and addictive experience. Maybe with the Ps5 Pro there will be a graphics overhaul. 😅 Sadly my wire broke after nearly 2 years 😢 please be careful with it because Sony wants 300€ for repair. Will try to fix it on my own but its very tricky, I hope to find a way to solder it correctly. Please Sony, sell the cable soon, I want to go back into this world 😂
We need a psvr2 class/catégorie and the choice to drive only vr player or not in daily races .....i want to see psvr2 players 'head moving looking at me when i overdrive 😅
I WANT to use my VR. I mainly race in leagues and I'd be at a disadvantage if I didn't have access to the same information that is available to someone who is not in VR.
Reprojection is a problem this is just to keep framerate and feldelity, pc is more powerful and can be tweaked to user preferences hence no reprojection. lack of hud and splits also a problem, however in my opinion psvr2 is the only way to play, depth perception, immersion and the ability to look to an apex on sharp corners is unmatched compared to flat screen,
Agreed on all points. Its really blurry. Reminds me of ACC, wich I never played in PCVR just because of this reason. I think its the anti aliasing thats also causing this smear effect. If you disable anti aliasing in ACC, the game looks better (besides the pixel mess due to no AA). It looks like all the other sims then. What I mean by that is, that smear effect (looks like an oil painting to me) is gone without AA. But due to the pixel mess, its unplayable. And I feel like GT7 has this smeary effect as well. Just as ACC looks great on a flat screen, GT7 also does. But in VR its not. I hope the PS5 Pro can deliver real 90FPS in VR. And the cherry on top would be some super samplig.

I don't think you play it in VR to be super competitive...its just about the immersion, and I love it.
You would if there was a VR-only competition.
What we need is PS VR to Lobby's only time in pcvr that way we all have to check our rearview to see how far the person is behind us or they can have somebody in the pit in our ears telling us how far the car is ahead of us or behind us like other games the graphics are awesome too don't let him fool you it's still a mind-blowing experience every time I load up
I’m a new user to PSVR2, and find it to be definitely more immersive…I’m actually a bit faster in VR and not have a rev limiter doesn’t bother me…it would be nice to have a delta, info and other names however, I just have to plan my strategy prior to the race and go with Plan A or B, depending on the flow…it doesn’t hinder my experience and I don’t think I’m missing out - Keep up the great work
I only play GT7 in VR. Yes, the hud is flawed and seat positioning would be nice, but I'm at the point where I accept these things will never be added.
And that is why consumers always get screwed. Because you're willing to accept being booty graped by the companies that produce poor equipment.
@polyphony come on let's get this fixed
racing on A in vr absolutely no Problems. I like using the rev counters or shift lights from the car.
GT7 in 120hz is not in 4k in 2d ps5 simply dos not have the horsepower to give 120fps in 4k
You will never get the same immersion in 2d.
@@nighttrain1565 that could not be farther from the truth. Unless i have a complete lemon, the resolution is by far better on my sansumg 4k tv.
@albee8008 most are lemons!
I just wish the HUD was completely customizable. The elements available and where they are placed on the screen.
Show me how you do this for real life.
Agreed. This was possible on project cars 2 for me on the PS4.... Loved it
The picture in this video is extremely jumpy and jittery.
@@TooLateGaming Thanks!
Will keep banging it!
What's with all the shakiness? Is there any way to fix that?
It’s just the vibration effect off of how the psvr2 broadcasts the game on the screen with the headset on, when you actually see it there’s not really a shakiness
I’m currently thinking of getting one and your videos are great, really appreciate them.
I completely agree. I have PS VR2 and only use it for fun in offline races.
You cannot use it in a competitive online race.
Not true what you are saying. I am 80 position global at daily race B. Playing with VR since day 1. You need to adapt and learn to race with it if you want to be competitive 👍
all i want is the top left tree with gaps, a moveable rev bar, a set vr position meaning if i look right as i come out of the pits or starting the race i shouldn’t have to press the reset button to look forwards again and lastly an adjustable seating height as i sit way too high up in some cars (this could be fixed at the same time as the previous wish too)
And hopefully each seat position you set is saved for each car once you have driven it
@ true. would be useful
All they need to do is have the pit crew or race engineer taking to you feeding you all this information, and this will be the perfect game 🎮 ever
what's wrong with not seeing rev lines ? you cant hear when to shift ?
I agree with the HUD complaints, if I have the weird floaty menu I don’t know why we can’t also have time to driver ahead and behind, I personally wouldn’t use a rev limiter I just listen to the car but it wouldn’t hurt to add it
It’s deffo not 4k but your eyes do adjust
If your trying to decided whether to get it or not I would say only buy it if you play A LOT of GT7 bc there aren’t many other games you can use it with and it’s not worth £500 to use it every now and then
Am I the only one that gets sick with all the motion going on? Maybe it's different when you're actually wearing the headset but just watching the recording in 2D is sickening.
My thoughts on this:
Put the intervals/leaderboard on the MFD
Rev meter I'm not so fussed about. I either listen to the engine for the sweet spot or most of the cars I use already have a usable rev meter or shift lights
I do off road motorcycles and some of the banks we ride up which are incredibly steep just look flat when you watch back in the go-pro.
The resolution at any range over 5 meters is astonishingly bad. The rev meter missing doesn’t bother me, I use my ears to shift.
Yo th-cam.com/video/LgH1Brtdflo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SFxYuO4ICzgFhxcD
It it easier to get the gold trophies in 2d because I’m having a hard time in VR on some tracks?
only just started using vr2 for GT7 and agree with visual quality as being pretty disappointing.
I've been playing 90% in VR and the lack of updates is disappointing (but also not surprising given their approach on GT Sport...)
In VR customization should be the name of the game, not a barebones implementation.
Get vr prescription lenses. Game changer
@@DmaVR l will have to look into that as I did not know that is an option, thanks 👍
@@geraldolson9366 no worries, less chance of scratching the lenses too
Even speaking as someone not very skilled and playing just for a little bit of fun, I completely agree.
Im not good enough for notice some of these points, but i do wish for more head positioning settings and better recentering, like you said.
Giving players the option and choice to customize which elements will appear on their VR HUD would be the best fix
Do you think the game would look any different using psvr2 with a ps5 pro?
bro we need the next gt to have a free roam with traffic and mics
Regarding the HUD, I think the HUD needs a complete overhaul in general, not just in VR.
We NEED a fully customisable HUD, where we can move HUD elements around the screen where we’d prefer them and ALSO to be able to remove HUD elements that we don’t want on screen.
I honestly don’t know why HUD design is lost on game devs.
Not just GT, but there are so many games where the devs just don’t seem to have a clue what the players want.
The face palm is real.
No problem with the rev meter...but reprojection is not good...maybe ps5 pro will run 120 native....
I wish the same... and full res per eye / no dynamic resolution stuff... and Raytracing fully used.
Pretty sure I run ACC in 90fps in VR?
@@Kireth with the right tool everything is possible
Speaking of VR I hope Polyphony does some upgades for the frame rate and resolution for PS5 Pro in 2D and VR.
100%!
Just saying call a spade a spade and not pretend it is something different.
oh boy, I only play GT7 with PSVR2, and I totally agree with your points, PLEASE UPDATE THE EXPERIENCE !! it's a lot of guess work
Please more PS2VR 🙏🏾. Speak your truth. I wish they would listen because it is a no brainer
I still have issues with blurry graphics after trying everything under the sun. Still love it but should be better
I cant go back to playing it flat nothing beats the immersion vr brings when you have a decent wheel set up
I have a psvr2 and dont mind not having the hud.
Biggist difference for me on vr is cars feel slower but i still love it and its great to pop in garage and sit in all those lovely motors 😉

PD: "So you want more VGTs?"
Another thing I feel like we need is live chats doing racing sometimes I really want to say something to the person who just hit me just to pass me
Everything your mentioning seems feasible except for the graphics frame rate part. Hopefully they get they get this message.
I enjoy sim racing for the fun of it, not for high-level racing, so VR is perfect for me
You are right , i woukd apreciate that info . Although , cant go back to flat
Reprojection is a problem this is just to keep framerate and feldelity, pc is more powerful and can be tweaked to user preferences hence no reprojection. lack of hud and splits also a problem, however in my opinion psvr2 is the only way to play, depth perception, immersion and the ability to look to an apex on sharp corners is unmatched compared to flat screen,
2k screens for each eye and now finally we can finally use it on pc and damn the hud is terrible
I honestly think that isn't the issue, it's mainly reprojection in GT7. I'm ok with mura in games like red matter
@@Kireth there are too many things to complain about the psvr2 atm. Mine just turned into a 600euro dust collector after i finished the horizon game

What car is it?
Honda f1 bro
I agree. For these same reasons I stopped using psvr2 on the GT7.
Bought the PSVR2 about 2 weeks ago and as much as I'm loving it I'm a tad disappointed with the overall clarity of picture. GT7 is fantastic but I only race properly in 2D........still.
Not relevant to the video but after all the controversy with fanatec should I buy their products still cause I wanna get the qr2 and a new steering wheel
You’re not wrong. Very valid points. I do still love it tho
How to avoid nausea would be a good video to watch for sure...

I think there is a better solution to this, I would have vr only lobby’s and leaderboards
