    BMW said transmissions have life long fluid in sealed cases, then they decided to delete the oil dipstick in 06 and rely on a sensor to tell you how much engine oil it has. Imo that's ridiculous.

The man's got a lake to dry out but at the end of the day he's got lots of customers who have wanted to purchase his brand for a long time.

    Just a thought about your comment about the gauges a vehicle should have.
    On modern aircraft, they have what is called a Glass Cockpit. All the gauges have been replaced with screens. All the gauges are still there on the screens.
    Now, modern vehicles all come with a small screen, it wouldn't take much to have a page in the software that you display all the gauges you wanted on the standard screen.

    The plastic push lock fuel and air lines on trucks were developed to make it easier to assemble the vehicle. No wrenches on the assembly line. Just snap it together. Headaches for the mechanics and more repair cost for the vehicle owners.

    Good points made in this video, and it really showed how good of a Matco dealer Michael is. As mechanics we pay the premium for the tool man to come by every week and have what we need or replace tools that need replaced. I hate hearing stories of dealers refusing to warranty tools, those jokers are in the wrong business.

    “Nothing is built to last”. I reckon that’s part of the “planned obsolescence” of the business world. I hope Michael doesn’t plan to move to another “tool truck” brand; his Better-half would have to order different hats. I enjoy watching the tool truck films and seeing an independent business owner successful from the dedication, hard work, and honesty (from what I’ve observed) that is needed.
    If I may say Mr. Clay, I don’t know if it was the angle you’re holding the camera or not, but you looked “give out” in the intro.

    The reason for the tape over the ABS light or whatnot, in trucking at least, is that dot inspectors have been known to dock drivers for having such lights on. I haven't actually looked up the regulation in the FMCSA book but I was dispatching a driver who dealt with that once. As we say, don't give them anything to latch onto ...!

      He’s explained it in other videos. There’s a door behind him that it shows from the outside looking in. He can’t explain to those people why it would be displayed backwards but if people Come on the truck he can explain to them and pull it back so they can see the windshield. He can’t have it right both ways so ......

      That's what I was wondering. The tool guys are in business to make money. I'm glad there are many YT mechanics going "Please don't just look at the payment/week or month." If you don't have that "Old timer" around to warn you.

  • @stever5887
    @stever5887 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not that people are "just lazy" that a car's engine oil or transmission fluid can go low or to zero over time. People today just don't know they're supposed to check them at least once a week and keep up with fluid levels. Owner manuals have gotten so big and complicated that most people don't open them until they have to change a tire. It's not just 80 y.o. women, but people across all age groups that haven't been taught by their dads or had a course in basic auto maintenance (in high school or elsewhere) to know what to look for and how often. You're not expected to know as much as a mechanic and be able to fix it yourself, but you've got a piece of machinery that is the second most-expensive item (after a house) that you'll invest your hard-earned money in. You should at least know how to check fluid levels and take it to a service mechanic to perform needed work to make it last as long as possible. That's just simple economics and common sense.

      Most people don't think like you and me. Yeah sure that's fine and dandy 23 bucks but what's that gonna be over my life? 5 years? 10 years? You might end up paying more than you woud if you would of just paid it right off, and you're stuck with payments for so long. Many things like that screw you over. Hell even going from monthly to yearly Car insurance payments they try to scam you out of like 500 600 700 bucks easy for paying monthly, yeah no thanks.

    Now is he gonna run your credit bc if so that’s a huge rip off, in interest. On a credit account I bet that dude is charging clear over 20% interest especially as a kid starting off. Man dude is robbing them. Gonna take them 5 years to pay off the box and those “free tools.” You want a good deal. Wait till February when matco has another convention. Talk about a hell of a deal on the box side of things.

      @A.Dude. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KoonTrucking That's a first one! So the price changes with the credit rating... I would assume it changes to being more expensive when you're in the shitter and it gets "cheaper" for the rich... Now I get to understand why all those losers "protest" against what they call "systemic racism", but it does not go after a specific race or color, it goes after the poor people. I might be wrong and the poorer you are, the cheaper they will sell it to you LOL! In any case, I don't even know if it's legal to sell this way, without disclosing a price and an APR. And back to my point; all these tool-truck companies do, is bring young and inexperienced people (not only) into slavery. Your replay actually confirms that. Stay safe and have a good one!

    • @chrisgeorge1362
      @chrisgeorge1362 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@A.Dude. the total price would change according due the APR... And yes they have to legally disclose the APR and everything, but they don't know your apr til they run your credit.

    Or go to harbor freight and buy a toolbox and all the tools you could need for $350 and you dont owe anybody sht lol a wrench is a wrench whether it made with the best german steel or in china, it will get the job done. These overpriced tools are for the guys that are retired and just want something perty to look at when they need a wrench to fix the wifes tv mount or for the guy that wants to feel like a pro mechanic without actually being able to back it up lol

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate to tell you but a wrench is not just a wrench. And a socket isn’t just a socket or a ratchet isn’t a ratchet. Harbor freight doesn’t fit the fasteners as good because they are cheap made. Stripping bolts is not fun, there’s a huge difference in tools and the way they are made.
