Astro a50 gen 4 battery doesn’t charge problem FIXED!!!

I have had this problem for a while, where my astro a50 do not charge most of the time, but they do work when they have battery life; sometimes they did charge, and sometimes they didn't. I read a reddit post where someone with the same problem hit their headphones and they started charging, so i opened my headphones looking for a loose wire or something like that.
When I opened my headphones on the side of the power button, I saw this connector that connects the mainboard to the battery, touched it, and my headphones started charging. I tried to apply some force to the connections to make sure they were perfectly connected and that hasn't stopped charging since.
If you have this problem i strongly advise you to try to fix it; its just a simple connection issue that is caused by hard movements or prolonged use. Its sad to see an expensive product like this fail in the most stupid way, but in the end you are four screws away from having fully functional headphones again.
Dejo un paso a paso en español por si a alguien le pasa lo mismo y no se lleva bien con el ingles. 1- Retirar la almohadilla del lado derecho tirando de la lengüeta superior. 2- Retirar el filtro del altavoz con cuidado, es como una pegatina (tranquilo, se puede volver a pegar y queda como antes). 3- Retirar los cuatro tornillos de 1,5 mm con el destornillador Phillips n.º 00. 4- Ubicá el conector blanco que esta colocado en una ranura, este conector en sus extremos tiene un cable rojo, amarillo y negro (es el que se indica en el vídeo), este conecta la batería a la placa. 5. Una vez ubicado, sacalo con cuidado de la ranurita, luego desconectalo, volvelo a conectar y colocalo en su lugar de nuevo. Repetir paso 3, 2 y 1.

I can confirm on November 10th, 2022 the method this man tried works. It's sad that I literally have to manually take it off to just using a pen to poke that white piece into it's place. I love the headphones sm but man for spending over $250 on this. I'm heavily disappointed how something small like that just causes a problem for MONTHS before figuring it out but thank you so much sir for showing me this video. Earned my respect!

I dunno if you'll answer a year later, but are you just supposed to move the power cable around? Cause I tried it, and it didn't work... But I might be doing something wrong, I think. Also tried unplugging the power cave and plugging it again while the headset was turned off

I had the exact same problem u described and had surged the internet trying to figure out what to do and nothing helped me until I found this video and it worked perfectly. I didn’t even have to unscrew the part off the headset I jus took the foam pad off and have the thing u showed a little poke and it’s back to working perfect. THANK YOU!
2 years later u saved me! its 14/08/2024. I was pissed off by this problem. i just found this video and i did the same thing.
opened the right ear and i just moved a little bit the fucking connector. VOILA', now my headphones charge at any time, always.

Wowwwwww I take back my last comment. Things are fixed! Spent 20 minutes on the phone with them to tell me I was shit out of lock because they were just out of warranty and they said I was at our loss and basically needed to buy new ones so happy I got them working thank you so much for the video. Will never ever purchase another Astro product again.
7/29/24 and this fixed it. I looked everywhere and this is the ONLY thing I found that was actually helpful. I opened it up and rearragend the cables. Took less than 5 min and I'm already charging up. Thank you!
Let me start off by saying I very seldomly comment on TH-cam. You sir, deserve a comment! I’ve had my A50s for under 2 years. Absolutely love them. Same issue, put on base station or plug in via usb and where light is supposed to be orange for charging, it would constantly be white. I have another headset which are the steelseries arctis nova pro wired. I like my Astros better and I was pissed about to have a paperweight pretty much. I went to my nova pros for about a month. One day decided to try the a50 again. They just started working out of nowhere for 2 days. Then right back to the same issue. Watched your video just now and gave it a shot. Plugged into usb, seated the connector and BAM, started charging!!!! You are an absolute life saver and want to say thank you very much for this!! Thanks to you, I have my favorite headset back!!! Can’t say it enough, Thank you good sir! 🙏🏻🙌🏻
This video literally saved my headset that I've been dealing with for at least six months now of constantly keeping it plugged in and only getting it to charge once a week at best. Thank you again!
Copying the comment below. July 2024 this fucking works! Take the magnetic ear piece off, peal the pad back. I didn't even need to under the screws, I just got a small flathead screwdriver and pushed the connector in more. INSTANTLY turned orange. Thanks man! Saved me a good bit of money :)

Mine were only 6 months old and after having my wallet stolen with the receipt in it i couldn't get a replacement....... OK, PEOPLE, This post was made on 9/13/2022, I'm So happy this video solved my case. For day's my Astro would not charge at all, and I always had a red light on my dock and following other people's videos of "fixing" their Astro and no progress, This video saved my Astro.10/10.

Dude ive searched high and low for answers to this problem. And i can confirm in 2024 that this method is the only thing that works. When i opened mine the connector had completely fallen out of its holder and was just dangling around. Pushed it back in and squeezed it together with mini channellocks and now my headset charges fine.

yes, moving the wires a little bit did the trick... not sure how long it will work but for now at least it working again. Even in the cheapest of battery power devices I have not seen such a problem.
Hopefully someone from Astro sees this and figures out what has caused this intermittent connection problem to appear in so many headsets.
I know man, its pretty wierd, nevertheless its fixable, and hopefully they fix this in the next generation of astros a50

Worked great! Finally! I bought a set used and thought I may have got screwed over because the set would charge intermittently and wouldn't charge right when they were charging, what could be happening also is the jarring from setting them on the base might be moving that connector down. Idk, I'm just glad you figured out man! Thanks!
BRO!!!!!! After MONTHS of charging issues with this headset. I stumbled across this video and it worked exactly as described. I'm so salty at Asto for having such an expensive "so-called" high-quality headset issue fixed by poking this white thing in my headset with a paperclip. SMF
I want to thank you for the video. I tried numerous solutions to restore the charging on my headset, such as hard reset, firmware updates, and different versions of the astro command center, but none worked. Then, when I came across your video, I tried your solution and it worked.

Thank you so much!!! I had charging issues for 2 years. And couldn’t find a fix. Decided to research it again and came across your video. Just repositioning the wire outside of where it was originally positioned makes it charge every time now.
Thank you a million times over. This problem killed me. Went through the process of thinking it was all a software issue. And finally they stopped working completely.

Dude you saved me from doing a battery replacement which still wouldn’t have solved my problem. Same thing all I had to do was touch the damn connector and problem solved. The only good thing about this process is that the magnetic foam clip thing holds the padding in nicely after removing it completely.
NICE, its refreshing to see more people can solve this problem specificly, this headphones still give me some heart attacks very often, i use them on xbox so updates dont happen, once in a while they stop working and its from a god dam update. but at least battery wise is problem solved.

For anyone with this issue, make sure your headset is fully updated and then just bang it on the table a coupe times. It actually worked for me lmao, obviously dont do it too hard but just enough to replicate his action of moving that connector which fixed it for me :)
i can confirm on the date of 06-05-23 after trying all of the fixes. this right here. of all things. worked. bang bang. not to hard. fixed it. orange light.
I can also confirm on 6/12/23 that hitting it just right on the desk on that side of the headphones did the trick for me as well.

Top Erklärung hat bei meinem A50 angefangen das es noch lädt aber nur grob einen Balken über einen ganzen Tag.
hab dann alles probiert von wegen reset und so hat aber nichts gebracht.
so wie er es hier erklärt hat es bei mir Top funktioniert.

I can't explain what the issue was, Because I had an issue where they wouldn't display the orange charging LED when docked, and instead would show a white LED. And my headset would die within 5m even when previously displaying 97% charge on Command center. Doing a reset on the headset would showcase its proper battery % at around 5%.
I tried to reach out to ASTRO but I no longer had warranty. So I followed your instructions and opened my headset to check the battery.
Honestly, I don't know what was causing the issue because the cable seemed connected correctly. I pushed on it abit to ensure it was connected properly. I also placed the wire back where it was supposed to be, Because it did seem to be out of place from its original spot. I essentially just moved the wire around, put my headset back together and all of sudden, it's working!
I used it all day. No issues anymore. It's chathing correctly too! So I can't say what exactly was the issue but definitely opening the headset and ensuring the connection between battery and charging slots were connected correctly, fixed it.

Believe it or not i had actually switched to Steelseries after this issue, but my steelseries are sent for repair, so I decided to try and fix my ASTROs to have a working headset temporarily.
Happened to me once man, the motherboad does not had connection with the battery and couldnt read correctly the charge remaninig, so it wouldnt display charge in the base. Almost all issues with this headphines revolves to battery not well conected
My a50 gen3s have this same issue except it does not have a connector like this. Thought I hit the jackpot finding this video. Been a paper weight for 8 months so far.
Worked like a charm. I didn't take it all the way apart, just stuck a pencil in and pushed on the white connection a little and it took off. Much appreciated!

Dude!! This worked. I did the exact same thing, I opened it up, and I literally just tapped the endcap on the battery cable and it started charging immediately. The orange light came on and everything! THANKS BRO!!!

Months of strugeling finally came to end, what could be necessary is if you show how you take the A50 apart, for everyone trying this you need a long and thin screwdriver for 4 little screws you just need to take of the soft layer which covers the speaker and unterneath are the screws.
You’ve saved me so much frustration. Idk how to thank you brother! Astro needs to do better! No reason why these things need to be this annoying! I was literally about to throw them away and go with another company but you saved me the trouble!

Just did the same thing and the connector to battery and charging port is loose ,I don't have a meter to check if the charging port was bad but I was having the same issue where it doesnt charge, then does and I kinda hit it lightly and it's charging again, thanks for showing how to take it apart ,not enough videos taking it apart 😅 you need small screw driver set to remove Phillips screws. Honestly wish they have a slot between charging port and battery connector to where it doesn't move and stay in place. But I would check the connections first before doing anything. Work on the simple things first

Not so much as loose but inside the connector some pins move, so you just need to connect them correctly and it’s done

The only thing that actually worked for me. Tried to do the factory reset on both the charging dock and headset…. Did not work. Tried changing the micro usb…. Did not work. All i did was open up the headphones and moved the connector around a lil bit and moved the battery a tad. This 100% did the trick. Had these for not even a year and astro is going to get a really bad review

i never took the 4 screws out and took apart the headsets but i did see that white connector towards the bottom right and i pressed it down towards the bottom of the headsets and it started to work. I dont know about my base station because it seems like it uses battery rather than charge even though they indicate theyre charging but to save the headache of warranty or getting new ones, i just charge the headsets with a wire.

I think the issue might actually be the usb / copper pin at the bottom. Either way taking it apart and putting it back together fixed it! Thanks.
Sometimes the fixes for everyone are not the same, but the procedure to fix them are quite simple and almost all the time the same steps

My headset started doing this all of a sudden a couple week ago. I tried everything, shaking, changing cables, unplugging and plugging, banging, nothing worked. Sometimes it would charge again and I thought maybe it was fixed but the next day same crap, red flashing dot sometimes, jumps from 1% to 80% or whatever. Then I finally thought, fuck it, peelled off the top and bottom parts of the ear cup foam (only the top and bottom, not the whole thing since the screws are on top and bottom, no need to peel it all off) and the screws are deep in small holes so you need a very thin small screwdriver to get the small screws out. I literally did nothing but push and touch a few cables, mainly the white connector one (I wanted to unplug it but I couldnt) and just touched it a bit, tighten it, dunno if it was even loose? Put it back together and wallah, its been charging for the last 3 days now after ever use.
Thanks to this video I did it. I was going to buy a new one but they are too expensive so I thought, its already broken, lets just open it up and mess around. Thanks!

You could also just solder the wires directly to the main board to get rid of the JST connector - however, they finally put a JST connector battery in the A50 after people complained for years about having to solder to replace the battery.
Best bet is to just put tape around the connector to keep it tight.
yhe mate, from a repair point of view is better to have the connector, but it has its own issues with having it.

It worked for me. I just pulled off the ear muff and then the sticky foam part and poked that white thing with a toothpick and it turned orange.
