    It’s so awesome to go on TH-cam and find exactly what I was looking for: A direct comparison of all Sith Infiltrators that were released so far. Thank you so much for making this video and congratulations to 1 Million subscribers, JANG!

    For a while I never thought the light blueish gray pieces looked.. well light blueish gray.. until I paid close attention in the video with the contrast of the background.. wow! You can see that little mix of blue in that gray. It’s amazing. I’m amazed even with seeing these colors literally on the daily.

      Charles Bricks Hate the fact that so many Sith Infiltrators were made. It's not memorable in any way. It also took slots away from a new TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor, Clone Wars sets, and more.

    Great video! The 1999 Sith Infiltrator looks like a CIS star-fighter with all those weird blocky blue pieces. But inflation aside, both 1999 and 2007 ones were 29.99 USD, which a 60 dollar difference comparing to 2015's 90 USD Infiltrator. A ship that was seen in only a few scenes in the entire Star Wars movie saga. Please make an AT-AT comparison!

    • @Woodenspade

      Unfortunately he doesn't own all the AT-ATs, at least I don't think he's reviewed every one.
      If you're still interested in comparison photos, check out the review for the 2014 AT-AT over at Brickset. They compare all 4 versions, and the surprising thing is, they are all almost the same size.

  • @Mega-Brick
    @Mega-Brick 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    It's videos like these that make me realize something - building bricks are one of the few industries that are 99% consistent improvement over-time, in all areas.
    I mean, look at Megabloks! Their Halo line had a couple of decent molds in 2009, sub-par plastic, and all.
    Now, they've got even better, more-accurate molds, extremely customizable figures, and have completely done away with stickers, now having printed pieces only.

    • @Woodenspade
      @Woodenspade 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's too bad Lego still uses stickers. :( So many sets would be improved then.
      At least they do do important printed pieces, such as the Mystery Machines hub caps and the Benny's spaceship classic space logos. I do wonder how much more they'd cost however.

    • @CodecrafterArtemis
      @CodecrafterArtemis 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jacob Klinkenberg They do have a lot of printed pieces, I just guess they don't necessarily want to print every little detail because that'd add even more to the cost.

    • @Woodenspade
      @Woodenspade 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Artemiy Solopov That's exactly the point, I wonder how much more Lego would cost if everything was printed. We can look at this year's TIE Fighter, it has 517 pieces, 3 large and new printed pieces, and only 4 stickers. Many people regard the set as $10 overpriced, yet would the subtraction of these prints make it a $60 set, hypothetically anyway? That is what I'm not sure about, I'm sure it would be more expensive, but then again I'm not sure if general audiences would want to pay more than they should, where most sales of lego comes from, casual buyers.

    • @jx592
      @jx592 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rhas 'Churol I wish Lego would do that, but in some ways they are still playing it safe after the 90's bankruptcy thing. I mean they were 880 million in debt, in 2013 they are 880 million in profits, I think printed parts would make Lego more timeless, or research into making Minifigure prints more durable, don't get me wrong. They definitely improved figure printing (detail and quality) but there's always room for Improvement, hence the tri-molded legs or arm printing

      You just can't force something to be iconic, it is fine you like it, and don't get me wrong it's a good looking ship, however it has 2 minutes tops of screentime and it's fanbase isn't that big. Only iconic and popular ships/crafts/places get the UCS treatment. People are already complaining about a fourth sith infiltrator when some other more popular ships only got one or none set iterations to date.

  • @scottbaker8018
    @scottbaker8018 9 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    Wouldn't it make more sense to calculate the price per weight instead of price per part? It's pretty obvious Lego using more smaller pieces than they need to so people think they're getting a better value when they look at the part count on the box.

    • @JANGBRiCKS
      @JANGBRiCKS  9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      +Scott Baker I guarantee 100% no designer at LEGO adds more smaller parts with the intent of deceiving customers. That goes very strongly against many of the company's core values. Build the sets and you'll see exactly why each piece is used.

    • @WhiteShadow2099
      @WhiteShadow2099 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +JANGBRiCKS I agree with Jang that its probably not done to deceive customer. Unless the production cost of each piece is known going with the weight would probably be more accurate to estimate value.

    • @LegoMiniFig24
      @LegoMiniFig24 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Scott Baker This is something I have tried to suggest to Jang and to The Brick Show. You're completely right though. Lego could just add another 2 1x2 bricks instead of 1 2x2.

    • @amirulizzat7395
      @amirulizzat7395 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Scott Baker i agree on scott's opinion... comparing price with their respective weight is the right way to measure the value of the sets... if using the number pf pieces per cost then that case buying a duplo set is expensive, you get what 8 duplo pieces at the cost of maybe 8$ (example).... just saying y opinion though...

    • @JANGBRiCKS
      @JANGBRiCKS  9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Amirul Izzat The problem with weight is that smaller pieces weigh more for the space they take up. A 1x1 brick weighs much less than the equivalent three 1x1 plates. More substantially, one 6x5x1 panel makes a very significantly larger element (potentially contributing to greater value) than the same weight worth of 1x1 plates. To put that into a more real perspective, a modern castle built with panels would be very significantly larger (and more valuable to many current, non-nostalgic customers) than a 1970s classic one built with the same weight of basic bricks & plates. Both weight & parts count have significant limitations as value metrics.

    I prefer smaller cheaper sets that give look for the desired craft. The 2007 (I regret not getting) is my favorite. It looks like the ship and was cheap. I mean, the new one isn't to scale anyway, so why does it matter? Also, for a single seat craft ( at least in the set), it makes ships that are supposed to be large (ex: Star Destroyer) a little wonky looking when put next to each other. Just my opinion.

    All things considered, the major difference between the 2011 & 2015 version, other than the style of building techniques chosen (such as slopes vs plates with hinges) are the bulked up back section and underbelly. Which is probably why a lot of people seem to dislike the new set, even though the set is larger, it's larger in less obvious ways. Leading to a knee-jerk reaction regarding the hiked price.
    With most LEGO remakes, the newest is usually the best, and I don't think this is an exception to that trend.

    The hype I felt when star wars lego came along in 1999. Not only the new movie, also lego on top of that. My star wars fandom peaked then. And the movie was alright for an 12 year old me. I've been waiting for this video for so long! Highly anticipated :) Great comparison though. The 2007 set looks like such a baby! I only own the 1999 version, but I'd say my favorite is maybe a split between the 2007 and 2015 versions.
    The 2007 set is a bit too small for my liking, and I'm not really a fan of the way they did the "nose" of the ship, but the wings have the most accurate curve. The 2015 set may not have the best looking wings, but the size of it is what I love most. Either way, I want to own them all >:D
    I was surprised you didn't do a minifig, probe droid, and speeder comparison as well! I know the speeders have changed drastically over the years. Woulda been nice to see that as well :)
    I hope to see more comparison videos in the future! I am obsessed with owning and displaying all the versions of each Star Wars LEGO ship from across the years, so I love watching these sort of videos.

    Great comparison of the sets, loved the 2007 one as a kid.
    I have a suggestion for when you look into some older sets, if you go into megablock's older sets, there's a pirates theme. No, not the Pirates of the Caribbean one. Even though it was in that period of time the bricks weren't that great, the sets held together quite well.

    This is a really cool review, thx alot! Actually ALL of the Sith Infiltrator sets do have proportion issues. Based on drawings, which i presume to represent most exactly the actual proportions of the models used in the movies, the original length to width ratio of the Sith Infiltrator is roughly 1,4. (1999: 1,8 2007: 1,5 2011: 1,7 2015: 1,3) It seems like designers tried to mend this several times but always went a bit too far.

    I like the 2011 lego version of this spaceship more than the official design seen in movies :P

    If I really wanted a Sith Infiltrator (thankfully I don't), and they were all still on the market at Jang's inflation-adjusted prices, I'd go for the 2007. It's definitely small, but it looks ok and plays well.

      I like the 2007 one as well, I have parts to it but not the whole build. My favorite though would be the newest one since it is the best result of a mix of the 2011 and 2007, I just don't care for the price of it.

      +Masterbuilder productions Me neither; I sure do like the look of the brand new one, and I'd like to have that crazy Maul face, but at 90 dollars I'm simply not interested.

    It would be cool to do this with the X-wings, when the new one becomes available September 4th.

    The face of the 2015 Sith infiltrator looks like a grandpa.

    I bought 3 of the 2007 Sixth Infiltrator ship back then. I put one together as a model, the second for parts & the third I was going to keep put up mint in box till I moved out of my apartment.
    I really liked the curvature of the foldable wings on it, too bad Lego went back the the flat design.

      The flat design feels more Original Trilogy empire to me.

    I can't believe how basic and blocky the original Star Wars Lego is. I used to have almost all the sets upto around 2015. the last few years I have only bought certain sets now and again. I often wondered why did they redo sets of things they had already done before. Now I can see why.

    Thanks for this. I already own the 2011 version but was considering the new one, but after seeing how much more accurate the 2011 version is, and the fact I already have it, plus it has better minifigures I'll stick with it instead. The new one is pretty good though.

      EbTheGuy I don't get why they cut so much on the play value on the last one.
      Gotta get the '11 version.

    How come we have gotten four sith infiltrators but only ONE Jango fett's slave 1? The slave 1 got more action than the infiltrator ever got but despite that Lego haven't made a new one! Weird..
