I've had this one permanently on display since 2014 and, for the past four years, it's been hanging from the ceiling using the handle. So far, no bending... I think it's still the best compromise between size, price and Lego-like representation of the real thing. Love it.
This is great Jang! Reusing old footage is such a good idea, hearing your review of the set 10 years later gives a different perspective and I'm all for it. Please do more of these!!
What a fantastic and creative idea to reuse old footage. This review is really unique, while also showcasing how your reviews have increased drastically in quality over the years.
I remember way back when this set was new and on shelves, I asked for it for christmas and built it right then and there after unwrapping it I then spent the next several years digging through my own personal bins and the bins at the local second hand brick shops and built a fleet of 5 more! I added extra chairs to the “pits” in the bridge and I actually turned the large open room into smaller rooms, I made a small cargo hold, a small office, a imperial styled archway to connect the two rooms, and a holding cell with a trans-red barrier as the door Thanks to the ahsoka show I took one of them and covered the exterior in gold to make it look like thrawn’s ship and I added a command seat for Thrawn on the bridge
Man, can’t quite believe you were already doing general Lego reviews ten years ago when it doesn’t even feel so long ago! It’s been an honor to be here for the ride, though. Brilliant idea to reuse old footage like this, which has held up excellently,
I've been waiting for an entire decade for this set to release again. This is so awesome Jang is doing a throwback from (in my opinion) one of the greatest lego star wars set of ALL time. This is amazing Jang.
I still remember wanting this set so bad since 2014. It was my dream set for many many years, then was finally able to pick one up last year in July. Got it for $200 and was more happy than ever!!!
Great video. Using footage from old sets is great, as it brings things back into viewers' feeds, and it's clever that it's a relevant set considering there's now a new version of the SD. Also, it takes the pressure off you for filming, which is always good too!
This is one of the earliest new (at the time) videos I remember watching of Jang, I longed for this set as a kid and watching someone review it for me way back when was like a dream come true.
Seeing this video pop up in my YT was a pleasant surprise. I've never had a lego ISD, and so it's very cool to (be able to) have a point of comparison with a renewed perspective from Jang. And thanks Jang, for your video creations. They've been not only helpful when deciding whether to buy a set or not thanks to your presentation and craft, but also quite entertaining and educational (I'd even say they are valuable records of Lego history) in a positive way for the last 7 to 8 years or so. (I gotta thank TH-cam for exposing me to your channel thru the old Sabre Tank review) Best regards/wishes!
Reusing old footage with new audio is so great! But I might suggest not adding that it’s reused footage in the video. Since it takes me out of the video a little imo. But other than that, I’m all for it! I would suggest the 2013 gunship next!
Hah, it's funny, I just watched this original review again a few days ago after I watched your preview for the new Star Destroyer. It's a nice model, you described it well! 11.5 years?! Man, time flies! I've been watching you for many years now, your reviews are excellent. I like how you have high standards but are also reasonable, and you notice small details and such. Thanks again JANG for all the years of awesomeness!
I like the throwback reviews, I think if it wasn’t too much effort on your part, do more of these for some highly anticipated new sets, that have older models from Lego (assuming they are significantly different enough) Great work as always Jang
I'd love more retrospective looks at older sets! Whenever a new set comes out, be it star wars, city, anything, I will inevitably look back at previous iterations of that set or vehicle to see if the new one is an improvement or not.
This is very unusual but very welcome, your reviews around this era are extremely nastolgic to me and I cannot wait to see what other sets you’ll revisit
Nice. I would probably have looked for it after your review of the 2024 one, that'll save me the trouble, thanks. The proportions on that 2014 star destroyer seems better, but being from years ago, it lacks the modern gribbling that elevate the sets nowadays.
Got this set for Christmas the year after it released. Still one of my favorite sets of all time, a very solid scale of capital ship that always felt imposing on my dresser.
Still have it on display. A very elegant yet simple set that I never get tired of looking at. Back before Lego decided to flood the market with countless expensive adult oriented sets and still made models that accomodated both the play and display mentality. And right around the first Lego Movie. 2014 was a great year!
Got this bad boy used for 200 bucks a couple years ago. Every single part was accounted for except for the parts necessary to complete the Mouse Droid, so I guess I'm missing the most important part of the set 🤣🤣
OMG Jang, I intended to find a review of this, just to get a genuine honest idea of how far Lego have come/the major differences since a decade ago....for the 25th Anniversary one!
I'm so glad we're getting a new one this year, and although the 2014 one is very good, I feel the new 2024 one is better, plus the fact it includes Cal Kestis makes it even better.
thanks for the vid. I am so excited the next version to release this year. I think they have done much better on the 2024 version because there are more details on the outside more stuff on the inside and more pieces than the last version all at around the same price of the last one
I found it interesting how much of the build was straight-up reused for the First Order Star Destroyer - so much so that the customer stand I made for this was almost perfect for the other.
This is one of the few sets I immediately added extra minifigures to, as I really wanted to make it an Imperial Base. Aside for that, this one is perfect imho.
Can't wait to pick up the new star destroyer this year, gonna eb the perfect main piece for my imperial army, might even pick up a retired light cruiser set or two to go with it
Really suprises me just how little detail this set has on its exterior, it's still a nice set, but I'm excited to see the new one's details/proportions :)
I still have this on display, along with the First Order one. Both great, although i switched all the red pins and axles dor black. I think I also reduced the mix of dbg, lbg and black so the fold out sections look more consistent colour-wise.
This old footage really shows how long its been and how far you've come. Can't believe I've been watching you for well over 10 years now.
I've had this one permanently on display since 2014 and, for the past four years, it's been hanging from the ceiling using the handle. So far, no bending... I think it's still the best compromise between size, price and Lego-like representation of the real thing. Love it.

I still remember when he first started doing brick stuff. I used to follow his Bionicle and Hero Factory blogs religiously
Love these throwback reviews! Please keep going 2010-2015 era set footage voiceovers
NOSTALGIA dude i loved watching your reviews when I was little back then, this was such a fun throwback
I've been waiting for an entire decade for this set to release again. This is so awesome Jang is doing a throwback from (in my opinion) one of the greatest lego star wars set of ALL time. This is amazing Jang.

Congratulations on keeping the channel going so long! I can remember when your original review dropped and it was so cool to see this set on shelves.
I like this kind of retrospective review!
This was the biggest set I ever owned as a kid! Saved up for a long time and was endlessly proud of it--really cool to both hold and admire.
These throwback review and comparisons are good Jang, thanks for sharing your thoughts and help us remember and compare previous sets.
Great video. Using footage from old sets is great, as it brings things back into viewers' feeds, and it's clever that it's a relevant set considering there's now a new version of the SD. Also, it takes the pressure off you for filming, which is always good too!
Loving the concept of old footage and new commentary... So much potential!
This is one of the earliest new (at the time) videos I remember watching of Jang, I longed for this set as a kid and watching someone review it for me way back when was like a dream come true.
I really like this new format! Can’t believe this was 10 years ago this was one of the first lego reviews that I remember watching
Appreciate what you make! For what it’s worth I see everything that I need in these shorter reviews and appreciate the brevity. Keep it up

I love rewatching your old videos so I’m down for more ‘retro reviews” in the future!
You are bringing your classics back. That is double retro. I love it ❤️
Reusing old footage with new audio is so great! But I might suggest not adding that it’s reused footage in the video. Since it takes me out of the video a little imo. But other than that, I’m all for it! I would suggest the 2013 gunship next!
Big fan of this idea! Id love to see more of your old footage reevaluated like this
I remember watching your old review and it convincing me to get this set. Have never regretted it
This set is sooo nostalgic! I would love to see more throwback reviews btw
I miss your throwback reviews!!!11one!!1!!!eleven!!!!!1!
I remember watching your old review of this before asking for it during Christmas lol, I really don’t like how time keeps marching on!
I love this set and Id LOVE to see more of these updated reviews!
Hah, it's funny, I just watched this original review again a few days ago after I watched your preview for the new Star Destroyer. It's a nice model, you described it well!

Great work as always Jang
Being able to comment on an 'old review' is just about as satisfying as that gun turret mechanism 😀
I'd love to see you do more of these with older reviews
this is great, and I hope we will see more of throwbacks, to really showcase how Lego evolved or devolved
I love these “revisited” reviews. I hope you do more of them
Still have a poster of this beauty hung up in my room. Timeless set. Also yay! another throwback review!
Good to reflect back on what we used to get. Thanks Jang
Perfect set to do a throwback off. Gives a good modern view on this set that indirectly helps with the perspective of the new star destroyer aswell
Happy 11 and a half years Jang! Wow! 🎉
I had this set as a kid, definitely one of my all time favorite Star Wars sets
Really like the throwback concept! Your old video was also incidentally the reason why I got 75055 a couple of months ago. 😀
That's so cool seeing you experiment with content lately :)
I'd love more retrospective looks at older sets!
Whenever a new set comes out, be it star wars, city, anything, I will inevitably look back at previous iterations of that set or vehicle to see if the new one is an improvement or not.
Really enjoying the new style of content, Jang!
Looking forward to tuning into your Barad-Dur build stream on Twitch while I build mine 🙂
Thank you so much for all those years of hard work!
Love the retrospective reviews! 👍 !thanksjang
Omg I had this as a kid! Thnx so much for reviewing this!
This is very unusual but very welcome, your reviews around this era are extremely nastolgic to me and I cannot wait to see what other sets you’ll revisit

Got this set for Christmas the year after it released. Still one of my favorite sets of all time, a very solid scale of capital ship that always felt imposing on my dresser.
This was one of the first “bigger” sets I bought & still have it on display today. I think it still stands up pretty well, especially proportion wise.
This is one of my favourite sets ever! I was so excited to get it for Christmas back in 2015!
Still have it on display. A very elegant yet simple set that I never get tired of looking at. Back before Lego decided to flood the market with countless expensive adult oriented sets and still made models that accomodated both the play and display mentality. And right around the first Lego Movie. 2014 was a great year!
An interesting minifig note - naval troopers did not wear the crewman’s outfit until ROTJ. The light gray crewman only wore the gray kepi cap in ESB.
Love this set! I remember watching your review before I bought it in 2015!
Got this bad boy used for 200 bucks a couple years ago. Every single part was accounted for except for the parts necessary to complete the Mouse Droid, so I guess I'm missing the most important part of the set 🤣🤣
Oh wow, even though I had the previous one as a kid, this is still a fun throwback!
Great review! I still have this set new in box and oughta crack it open and build it already.
The nostalgia is crazy, being like 6 when I watched it originally. My largest set at the time was probably like 600 pieces.
Love this set -- one of my favorites of all time. Still have it on display.
Definitely a set as a teen I was always looking to have. Now, hopefully, the next iteration of this scale of Star Destroyer will compare!
OMG Jang, I intended to find a review of this, just to get a genuine honest idea of how far Lego have come/the major differences since a decade ago....for the 25th Anniversary one!
Keep up the great reviews brother!
Star destroyers have always been cool, so I’m very excited for the new one this summer
I think of this one highly, but the OG play scale set from the late 2000s carries a lot of nostalgia.
I'm so glad we're getting a new one this year, and although the 2014 one is very good, I feel the new 2024 one is better, plus the fact it includes Cal Kestis makes it even better.
This is definitely one of the most iconic sets that Lego Star Wars ever had.
Honestly I love how they Made the cannons in this one, however I vastly prefer the FO Star destroyer interior
You should definitely do more of there throwback reviews if you have the time to do so.
I would love it if you reviewed older sets every now and then between Lego release waves
I bought this for 85 bucks on ebay last year, absolute steal and imo better than the new one.
Still have mine on the shelf. The back area is where I store my bounty hunters. Can't believe that was 2014! Felt like yesterday.
I always wanted one as a kid
Hey Jang, I'm really hoping you keep this built so we can see the comparison shots when the new one is released!
I still have this one on display; I can't believe it's ten years old!
thanks for the vid.
Did not expect to see this today! What a treat!
Currently have this set and it’s amazing ten years on!!
it will be interesting to see the comparison/differences of proportions with the upcoming version
awesome review as always!
I am actually pleasantly surprised and charmed by this.
This is one of the few sets I immediately added extra minifigures to, as I really wanted to make it an Imperial Base. Aside for that, this one is perfect imho.
this is in my top 3 best lego star wars sets, and im so blessed to actually own it
Can't wait to pick up the new star destroyer this year, gonna eb the perfect main piece for my imperial army, might even pick up a retired light cruiser set or two to go with it
I love a good throwback review
Man I remember when I first watched the original
Really suprises me just how little detail this set has on its exterior, it's still a nice set, but I'm excited to see the new one's details/proportions :)
It has been 10 years already? Time really does fly my dear
" join the empire !
Our ships are big triangles"
Love the retro review. Can you make more of these
Would love too see more information or even comparison about sticker quality!
I like the trowback serie Jang you are one of my favoprite TH-camrs 😁
I still have this on display, along with the First Order one. Both great, although i switched all the red pins and axles dor black. I think I also reduced the mix of dbg, lbg and black so the fold out sections look more consistent colour-wise.
I like the size of this one, but I think the shaping and parts usage of the new one is much better
Definitely the best Star Destroyer playset from Lego
Such a nice set! I'm interested to see how it holds up compared to the new model coming out this year
Glad I have this set imo the best play scale star destroyer
Your voice is so soothing
Are those black axel pins?! Wow, what a time to be alive
