My biggest issue is the lack of Maul's hood, but besides that I really like it, especially since I don't have any sets from episode one, and getting Qui-Gon which is one of my favorite characters is great. It definitely could have used one or two more minifigs to justify it's price tho
This set is awesome! I had the original from 1999, but this is a big step up. Always good to get a Darth Maul minifigure! They even have the double red lighsaber even if the scene in the movie didn't have that.

I just got this set for 15€ without mini figures. The bump in the middle is easily modifiable, and the ship looks much sleeker once it's flattened out. If you already have some of the minifigs, I can defenetly recommend buying a used set without them for a much more reasonable price, the model is really nice!

I love the idea of this set, I feel like the execution was just fumbled a bit. My personal bias is telling me I would rather grab the Ghost and Phantom II set, even though it's considerably more expensive than this one, and it doesn't have a special Minifig like Saw. Another excellent video, I can't wait to see what other sets you cover throughout the year!

I have this set and one thing I really don't like is how short the landing gears are. The entire back half of the set will hinge on a small corner the 4x4 round plate instead of sitting flush with the surface. The closest solution (without modification) I've found is having the whole gear and feet extended vertically.
I thought there is no cape because of the interior space being small and Maul with hood piece would not fit. But he fits perfectly. I actually don't understand why LEGO did it. Also, the nose bump is so unnecessary. I figured a little modification (adding just 3 pieces) in a few seconds. No problem at all, play function works still the same way. And it look so much better it feels almost insane.
I understand all your points (positive & negative). I'm not going to say I agree with everything you said...but, I'm certainly not going to disagree. Regarding the 'bump' along the top of the fuselage, although it would eliminate the ability to open the top, I think it is probably possible to "lower the bump", making it look more accurate. As for the price, I think a part of their reasoning has to do with one specific figure - Saw Gerrera. The probability of this figure increasing in value is virtually guaranteed.
Some people consider it false advertising and find it a big deal. I myself couldn’t care less, but I still pointed it out for those who do. On the box it’s a bit brown ish, when in real life it’s a bright sand color. (Which is more accurate anyway)
Call me crazy, but I LOVE this new Maul design and how the face is so different than other Mauls. I feel bad for the people who can’t enjoy it the same way I do

Most of your reviews focus on the set itself, and the purpose of the video is to learn about the model to help decide to get it or not, or just to check it out. The box part felt a little random

Nice video, but unfortunately, because it has Saw Gerera and poncho Quai Gon, it was instabuy for me :D Also i think in some time, unopened versions or at least Saw minigif value will help return some money.
Really dislike the bump but found a very simple mod just need 2 extra pieces and will look flat and much better, the price is still high would need to get it at a nice sale
People should really stop and look at the boxart for what it is. It's a rethinking of the OG 2000's boxart. It doesn't need to be changed. It's good for what it is, and Lego should stay like this.
I dont think its that overpriced considering the current lego landscape. I just find it generally ugly and fat which is why it wont be infiltrating my collection

Gonna remove the probe droids and modify that bump and it will probably be a 9/10 ship.

I never liked the Sith to have pupils, seemed too weird for me, this Darth maul is just amazing in my opinion
70 dollar is not that pricy if you notice that here in Perú that same set has a cost of 150 dollars.
That forward section doesn't look like the original. You could probably replace the forward section with the mini-Executor.
That would make it far too pointy though, but an interesting idea for sure!
