  • After review the Accra TZ shafts in our last video we found that the TZ95 worked the best for me.
However, is it the best shaft for me. The burning question every golfer asks. In this video we take a look at various 95 gram shafts and their profile to get the best performing shaft for me.
What to talk more about golf equipment? Join us on Mondays at 530 PM or 1730 eastern time. for Whats in My Drawers Golf Talk.

I live near the Accra headquarters in Kingston Ontario. Was recently in for a fitting and we chose the icwt 95 for my irons. Took away my miss (pull hook) and helped with my dispersion. The switch from steel to graphite has gone smoothly and playing from the centre of the fairway most of the time is a welcome change.

Great video? What heads are you putting the new shafts in?

Great video and thought provoking. I’m 67 with handicap 12. 7 iron distance around 120 yards, swing speed around 68 mph. Currently have TaylorMade SIM2 max irons with Senior recoil graphite shafts. Not much of a fan of the shafts and thinking about changing. Probably a silly question but any recommendations on new shafts😊😊😊

I’m curious about exactly what “constant weight” is. Does this mean that every shaft with respect to its length is identical mass, ie a 6 iron shaft is traditionally 1/2” longer than a 7 iron shaft but in this model they will weigh the same? Since a 6 iron head is typically 7-8 grams lower mass than the 7 iron of same model, does this make it easier to match swingweight throughout a set?

My question involves the flex. I did a bunch of testing this winter on carbon iron shafts. Found one I liked results on as far as feel, distance dispersion. But testing the lie angle again after playing a few rounds, (I was missing right, right hand player) it shows I need flatter. I went as far as checking stop action video at impact, the club head is going toe down. Causing the face to open and the reading of the dynamic lie. But this flex and bend profile is the nicest I've hit in a long time. So, should I just bend the clubs flatter, to offset the shaft bending down at impact?
Or go back to a stiff shaft profile. I'm 62 and it took a lot to pry the DG S300 out of my hands. LoL.

I'm far from an expert on this stuff but I would probably bend them upright. I have the same problem except I go left (southpaw). According to pings chart I'm supposed to be 2 degrees upright, other charts say about 3 degrees. I find myself trying to compensate for it with standard lie clubs and my body starts doing weird things. As soon as I figure out my new to me loft and lie bender I'm gonna bend mine.

I'm the same by their static measurement chart. Though never bothered with the 2° from standard. Found most OEM off the rack heads were slightly upright from the standard chart. So I could make them work. 😮

You need to go more upright, not flatter. You’re getting shaft droop, which is common, and can be seen in dynamic lie on a sim. Need to see what your dynamic lie is and bend heads upright, if possible. If they are cast clubs, leave adjustments to a professional, they may need to apply some heat to bend them without breaking. Forged heads are typically very easy to bend, though I’d still leave to a pro fitter to set them consistently.
Flatter lie will only exacerbate your issues

a fitter had me in the 95g elevate stiff. went to another fitter and said i was better in nippon modus 120 stiff. the differences from fitters is most irritating. i went with the nippon for less work in the swing.

My personal thought is fittings are subjective anyway. You can go to three different doctors and get three different diagnoses. Same with a fitting. It really boils down to what the individual likes and feels right.

If you were able to compare the 95 to 120 to compare each instead of comparing fit to fit then you can make a personal selection

Those two shafts have different bend profiles and tips.
Another underrated point is how many swings you are making in your fitting.

If you are toeing down and hitting to the right I would consider bending the lie upright

I thought that might be the case.
A little off what the "book" says, but in line with ball flight.

@@scottmonthony726Not sure what “book” you’re referring to. I’d suggest you read it incorrectly, if not, throw the book away it is fundamentally wrong. Get yourself to a trained fitting professional, they will set proper lie based on your dynamic lie from sim

Accra Icwt is a tapered, discreet length shaft... there is NO tipping!
