Jerry Goldsmith really knew how to get an orchestra to play so evocatively, he really was the bridge between the Golden Age and modern film music, he was doing the big wall of sound type scores way before Zimmer and in my opinion is leagues ahead of Zimmer.
I do like a number of Hans Zimmer's scores, but Jerry Goldsmith's work remains vastly superior as do the works of John Williams, James Horner, John Barry, Elmer Bernstein, Bernard Herrmann, Alfred Newman, Ennio Morricone, etc.
I'll never understand the people who say that Jerry was losing his touch in the 90s, this proves he was still capable of writing great music, were he still alive I think he would still be writing great music alongside John Williams.
One of the most beautiful songs ever. So uplifting, so motivating, it truly touches the soul….

Well said, and Goldsmith wrote real music, not noise a la Zimmer.
@@tomhyland4077 Agreed, I hate what Hans has done to film music.

Since 1975, no other Notre Dame player has been carried off the field.
Since 1975, no other Notre Dame player was small enough to lift.
Until 1995 when fullback Marc Edwards was carried off the field as well. I'm betting Edwards wasn't carried off as a joke like Rudy was.
At the time of the films release back in 1993, that was true. Marc Edwards was carried off the field in 1995, 2 years after the film’s release.
Such a powerful and beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing
