I still believe that while he might not have been the biggest or fastest guy out there but he would’ve played his guts out week after week for that team if coach would’ve dressed him and played him. Then again it wouldn’t have led to such a special moment in Rudy’s life.

That character doesn’t work for me. I find it hard to accept that an ex-player and Notre Dame dropout who quit over racism would stick around as a menial laborer.
@@marklanger1627 Suit yourself, but he didn't quit over racism. He wrongly _perceived_ that he wasn't getting to play _because_ of racism when, in fact, he just wasn't good enough yet. Actually the best part of this clip was when Jaime O’Hare, the player who hated Rudy the year before, threw the touchdown pass that allowed Rudy to play come over to him and pointed his finger at his chest and said That was for you. No doubt.

If you ever see the actual play on video, yes Rudy makes the sack but it's more because the middle linebacker rushes the QB forcing him into the side Rudy was on.

The good part of that story is that it could be "Hollywood-sized", "Broadway sized" or "Independent-film sized" and it would work anyway. It's that good.
@@Kevin-tz2lv Agreed, and I have no problem with that. I always tell people that when a feature film (not a documentary) is "based on a true story," the key words are "based on." That said, "Rudy" takes more liberties than most. Which is fine, it's a really good movie. But a lot of people really believe that all the starters turned in their jerseys and that Notre Dame ran a halfback pass long bomb to give him a chance and that the crowd chanted "Rudy Rudy Rudy!" This was heavily "Hollywood-ized." Again, not a complaint. Just an observation
@mikeholtzclaw3995 I get ya...but I would also say other movies that take liberties that are much more dishonest and damaging. Meaning if people think that scene really happened...oh well....vs a movie like JFK that has a hundred scenes that didn't happen and helped convince people of a conspiracy. I know I'm cherry-picking an example here...but the main point is...if people believe that the jersey scene really happened l...oh well, no harm
@@Kevin-tz2lv I don't think anything about the dramatization of Rudy is damaging. No harm, as you say. As for JFK, a lot of liberties were taken because the movie was being shown from the perspective of Garrison. The point of the movie wasn't that Garrison was right about everything; it was about the idea that there was a certain nobility in his determination to pursue leads in an obviously suspicious crime. And you're right, anyone who believes that everything in JFK happened the way it's show, they are paranoid. But a lot of people are paranoid about the JFK assassination. That's part of the theme of the film.
Probably the most powerful and uplifting sports moment in film history that I’ve ever seen. Truly spectacular in every way. Thank you, Rudy!!!
You need to watch Hoosiers.

Watching now and for chills and goosebumps
Thanks Rudy for inspiring my childhood. Everything is possible with hard work and a dream.
