@EN KVN Then yours is built wrong. It is part V11 from the Sword/Launcher Strike kit. It is the same runner that came with the MG Perfect Strike. So...yeah.

Honestly the Duel is probably more closer to the granddaddy Gundam than the Alie strike in terms of load out. The Aile strike is more of an F90 than a RX 78-2
The assault shroud is literally a direct reference to the orignal FA Grandaddy (Green Armor)
It is considering it is bare basic compared to strike which is accompanied with backpack system.
Duel *is* the first Gundam made from the 5
SEED wasn't meant to be 100% remake of Gundam so it's understandable why they didn't make Duel as the lead machine despite yes, the Duel is closer to the Granddaddy. Not to mention that Strike would still have taken the spotlight even if Duel become the lead and that would not be good.

The original OMNI Gundams had frames that where designed together.
the MG kits do, but the actual in show Okawara designs don't.
that's why compared to the lineart and previous kits the other 4 resemble the Strike since they fudged it.
The Duel and Blitz really show this, compared to the old kits the Duel's shoulder elongates downward and thinner, where as the MG is shaped more like a bulky Strike shoulder. The Blitz's gained the round part of the Strike's shoulder where it originally has a different shape.
I think the Aegis was the only one with a different frame since it can transform while the others can't

The frame situation is referenced in the model number, Duel, Buster and Strike are X102, X103 and X105 respectively, build on the X100 frame, Blitz is X207, on the specialty equipment equipment type X200 frame, and Aegis is X303 on the Transforming X300 frame
Thank you for finally reviewing my favorite Gundam from Seed. It looks awesome unarmored and armored. Duel Gundam is also pretty much the Grandaddy of the Cosmic Era being the first Gundam ever made not to mention the Yazak got 2 Gundam kills with this suit. I wish he kept it and upgraded it for Destint rather then getting a Zaku Warrior.
well, the Seed Destiny writers are a bunch of massive tits, so you got that pathetic Zaku Warrior and whatever cameo Yzak and Dearka got. Yzak is my fave character there you know, but like I said, Seed Destiny was a terrible sequel, lots of fans would refuse to call it canon.

Little posing trick with the assaultshroud, pose your kit without the skirt armor and put the skirt back once the pose is good
I think if Kira had gotten the Duel instead of the Strike we would have gotten a sort of Liger Zero thing going on. the Assault Shroud would have been his main combat set up but he would have had space flight set up with lots of thrusters and RCS jets, switched out with a flight mode one that has wings like the ail striker pack.
That’s actually a really cool concept for an alternate storyline. Armors instead of striker packs.
IIrc, Z.A.F.T. were the ones who made the assault shroud.

@@jakstrieder This is actually not true. The Assault Shroud was based on the Ginn's Assault Shroud. It would later be copied by the Earth Alliance for the mass production equivalents of the Duel in the Long Dagger and Duel Dagger's Fortestra, however.
@@RiderOmega as the commenter before you pointed out Z.A.F.T. only made the shroud, the design was With the gundam when they toke it, my guess is that it was meant to be built at the base where they were being taken too when the Z.A.F.T. assault toke place.
besides it's just a fun What If ideal, I really don't care about what details are right or wrong, Watching the anime I seen that there could have been such a chance had they just had the gundams been in different places.

About to order Duel. Then Blitz....eventually. Buster and Striker with IWSP are on my shelf.
Not mentioned, the Shiva railgun on the shoulder can be detached, and has a flip out grip so it can be used as a handheld weapon too. Love this kit, one of the best in my collection.

Man, 2012-2015 is like the golden age of MG. So many kits, such high quality design and build. Hope Bandai makes a return soon.

The shear number of GM and Zaku kits have a ton of customization options, but your point stands.
However, I put the regular ZZ Gundam head on my FAZZ. It looks much better, IMO (plus it gets a actual High Mega Cannon this way!). I did steal the extra V-fin from the ZZ though, so I did need two kits to do it.

I’ve built one of these and it was my first ever mg as well my first model kit. It was fun to make.
Fun fact : The Astray Gold Frame (before modified into Amatsu type), has the same Gaebold Railgun Bazooka, the same arm that use the weapon got destroyed due to the short circuit after using it once.

Finally reviewing that Duel Assault Shroud eh? Bout time.
I love the design and the color separation
So I want to update about the assault shroud front skirt. It will require some modifications but nothing dramatic. So inside the shroud skirts there are two pieces inside are preventing giving the pegs enough clearance for a tight fit. You need to file it down until you can stick it on.
that SPECIFIC feeling when you know that robot looks great:
between the arms and the chest armor added from the Assault Shroud, a bit of a recolor would make this thing look like a Gundam version of Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime

With the duel blitz appearance in Seed Freedom, I think Bandai may release a “blitz assault shroud” expansion kit for mg duel as p-bandai
Been collecting all this Seed kit. for all my years of gunpla. Seed kit is the most enjoyable build, simple,beautiful and really sturdy.

It looks better with all the armor. I do like the color but to me I would probably paint some parts with a darker orange.
Agreed. I like the blue and orange as complementary colors, but they need shifted just a bit. Light blue needs to be lighter and greyer, and orange needs to be more orangey.
I bought that kit and painted it in Full Armor Gundam Thunderbolt ver colors. It was a gift for a very good friend of mine for their birthday

well the Duel Gundam is the RX-78-2 granddaddy equivalent of the Cosmic Era universe, being the first Gundam created in-universe which is reflected with its basic armaments which mirrors the RX-78-2.
I bought this a month ago, because of some review on youtube ... and the naked version make me fall in love instantly ... until now the kit still stand in front of my monitor without assault shroud attached ...
Thanks for the review, really need to pick this guy up again some time. Had it years ago when I was new to the hobby and ruined it with terrible painting. I see you lost the lense cover for the beam rifle as well. You also forgot to mention that the rail gun has a handle too so it can hold it in the hands as well.

In my monthish of "isolation" I have built and fully detailed the HG RX-78-2 revive, HG Zeta revive, HG The O, HG GM Striker, and I'm halfway finished with the MG Freedom 2.0. I sorta feel sorry for those who say they have cabin fever and they have no clue about Gunpla, because it is the cure for boredom.

In Gundam Breaker 3, when I’m not making a build dedicated to special features or having all manner of weapons, I use Duel Gundam arms. They aren’t overly flashy or curvy, but they also aren’t too simple. They have sufficient bulk to look good on most Gundam frames and have a distinct character. For me, they are one of the most well-designed arms of any MS that has a Gunpla.
I really wish these Bandai kits also did things like Macross/ Macross2 /Super Dimension Cavalry
Southern Cross/ Genesis Climber MOSPEADA. As much as I love Gundam and how fun they are to assemble with no glue needed, I would love to see a 1/144 - 1/100 of the above mentioned Animes.

One of the best MG Seed kits. If I remember it correctly, the railgun can be dettached and used as an extra beam rifle.
My first MG actualy, this kit made me start my MG adiction... it's so damn solid (without the fxking skirt that would never stay on whatever you do, might glue it on one day). For someone who had previously only build RG and HG that was life changing

It's been 4 years since this video, and I just realized mecha forgot to mention that the shiva rail gun could also be us as the rudra rail gun *the handheld vesion of the shiva rail gun*
Honestly, I'd say that's it's more like a prototype to the Stark Jegan more than anything.
I like both evenly, so when things cool down, and HLJ's shipping services are back to normal, I'll be buying 2. That way I can have with and one without the assault shroud.

Just got myself some HG Alus Earthree Gundam. It's a head taller than Earthree Gundam and it has a waist joint.
I always love all gundam seed model 😊
I noticed the right shoulder armor is missing as well as the beam rifle’s lens cover
Just to correct you it has a ab crunch but it’s really tight it’s in the same spot as the side to side rocking joint you have to line it up
You can use a clear nail polish on the pegs on the front/back armor so they don't fall as much.
Just picked this kit up and am looking forward to building it from all the reviews I've seen. Also just got the MG Aile Strike in today and thinking of getting that MG Buster as well, but my fiance would probably kill me if I keep buying them like I have been as of late.
I was in Japan when this kit was released and purchased it right away from my local store. I loved it, but wound up not applying any of the decals. Move forward a couple years and I've left Japan, and decided to decal it, but have lost the decals. I wound up buying a second one cheap and now have both displayed, with with the AS and the other without. Love both versions :D

Providence is such a macho gundam.
The gray part is is an extension piece to attach the shoulder parts of the launcher strike of the older MG strike. Also the gun of the duel is missing that tiny piece that covers its lense.
I swapped the back frame, backpack and knee armour of the duel with my strike to make a "standard" style gundam with a sword impulse color scheme

Tbh, didn't realize the Assault Shroud Duel would be this kind of a beauty...
Really like the bulkier version of AS Duel in this armour as the armour makes the Duel looks much more intimidating (much more than in the anime)
I like how the armor looks @Mecha Gaikotsu and has some nice panel lines.

You can also take the shoulder rifle and use it in a hand with its flip out handle.
I want this kit real bad but i know i won't be able to decide which version to build it as. I love how the standard looks like a more no-nonsense version of a stereotypical protagonist gundam but at the same time i love the bulky look of the assault shroud. D:

I laughed when duel exploded
For anyone who may not know, the Gae Buld Rail Bazooka was originally a part of the Duel Gundam's armaments, only it was stored elsewhere. When the Astray Gold Frame was stolen, the pilot took it and used it with the Gold Frame, which is why the Duel Gundam never had it
