New to kit-bashing, but was inspired to do so after playing Gundam Breaker 3: Break Edition. I use that to conceptualize the ideas I had in my head, and it basically gives me a list of parts to look for :)
Yes! putting HG/RG and MG parts together could yield great results. the most outrageous (?) mix i kitbashed before were Gundam Astray + Deathscythe + Zoids. if there're people who hates series crossover kitbashing , it'd definitely trigger them lol.
For such an advanced building technique I would have loved to see more discussion on what needs to be considered when kit bashing to maintain harmony and presentation. I feel like alot of important information was missing from this video to really help builders who want to kit bash.
I think he did a pretty good job at explaining it. Harmony and presentation are pretty abstract things in terms of kitbashing, and it just depends on common sense and knowing what's going to look aesthetic. Obviously giving Astray Red legs on a Dom body is going to look weird, and any builder can figure that out. He went over the information that needed to be went over.
@@siamsuleri8279 I disagree completely. He barely skimmed over the basics of what many builders deem "simple parts detailing" and kit bashing. There are hundred of things to consider or tips that could've been discussed that would've been more helpful to a new to kit bashing builder.
My first ever custom was a kitbash it was a astray red frame with flight unit, I put the destiny gundam wings into the side plugs on the flight unit, put the destiny arms and hands with fenice reniscita shoulders and legs on the astray torso and then made a set of scratch built guaiz eft inspired hip railguns using the little ball and shaft that is in the polycap runner. I only painted the green and the blue parts red and and made the cream parts white and added some gold with a paint marker and removed the astray v fin. Simple yet effective

(I was using HG kits.) after trying to make it work I switched the arms to Gundam X. So after everything it went: Head - Lightning Body - Qan[T] Backpack - Qan[T] Arms/Legs - Gundam X Wasit/Hands - Destiny Gundam Colors white/gold The only thing I haven’t been able to fix and I have some ideas are the fun funnel color, which come as green, and I need them to be a clear blue. I plan on redoing the HG version since I’ve gotten better at Gunpla and painting since I made that kitbash. Then I want to try it as a MG with the Qan[T] Full Saber backpack.

going for a bit bash with a Leo and the Stark Jegan to make a Leo High Mobility Type. I think the Stark Jegan legs are fairly smooth in style to the Leo's THICC thighs so as long as I can figure out the knees and the back pack I think it should come together alright.
I recommend that every gunpla tool kit have these things: Cheap nippers Expensive nippers($35) Model files($10) #1 hobby knife(and 100+ spare blades) 400g to 1500g sandpaper.(cheap Walmart works) And finally to get the sheen after sanding that matches all Bandai plastic: 2500-3500g sandpaper(3500 looks better but takes longer). You can get everything you need for under $100. If you’re spending $200 not including paint, you’re doing it wrong.
I've been playing around with the idea of bashing Barbatos Lupus Rex with the God Gundam and one other one that I haven't decided on yet. I already have a vague idea of what I want to do I just need to put it together lol.
I have 3 kits I’m gonna use to build from. 2 of which I already have Exia, and MK-II Titans, but I want it to have wings so I’m gonna use freedom 2.0 wings but imma keep the original MK-II color scheme cause I’m a huge blue lover lol
You should have one of those slogans similar to ramen’s “lick the bowl” and add it to the ending of dont stop building. Something like “cut the peg.” Haha
I think if you really want to get into kitbashing the correct place to start is with the high grade line because of all of them are about compatible with a 3 mm holes like the iron blooded orphan line is really good for this because all the parts can be mixed and matched and then you can paint the kit as a whole to make it match the 30-minute Mission kits are also very good for this especially if gluing and modifying pieces is not your thing that's the way to do it without having to modify our glue pieces or cut them if you do not feel comfortable with that at first I feel that this video is aimed more towards veteran Builders than it was beginners the tips we're extremely helpful and not everybody in the world can draw really well better to start small with like high-grade kits and start mixing those together our 30-minute Mission kits are really good for that too because they all share the same three millimeter Peg that is the beauty of building and modeling is the freedom

I just started painting my own kits and I get confused with what I've read online when it comes to protecting the paint and when to add panel lines and decals. I want the detaling tips to come from you instead, the painting, topcoating, panel-lining and decal, which order or procedure worked well for you that doesn't damage the paint, coating or the decals. thank you!
I used to kitbash 00 qanta with the strike freedom but now it's the Strike Ace a kitbash of turn A and the strike freedom with a little of 00 Ace parts
Thanks for the advice :) I was thinking if creating a sort of tribute-ish gunpla to Gundam Seed & Seed Destiny (The first Gundam series I watched start to finish) by kitbashing my favourite parts from the HG Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Destiny Kits. Seed isn’t my favourite series but it has a special place for me as the first I watched properly. Tentative name is simply the “SEED Gundam”

Not gonna lie. I think photoshop might take a bit to much time to use. I know how you feel with that rooster. In my old house there was this really annoying rooster that lived behind my house and it would start crowing at 4 am and not shut up till lunch. What makes it worse is the fact that I live in Australia 🇦🇺. Fantastic video fam.
An added note. If you like me have no artistic ability for the concept drawing. Using a very small amount of super glue helps me a lot. Admittedly it does add a bit more work clean up wise before you start making them more permanent parts, but when you can’t draw and need to visualize it help a lot.
One thing I want to know is what hobby knife set are you using? I have been looking for a good set of blades aside from just using the basic hobby knife I already have. I need the other varied blades for other things.
How do I kitbash? I find the remains of kits that either didn't survive my 3rd house move or ended up on landfill by mistake (try not to think of my poor HG Zeta and Alex) then adapt the parts to work on other kits. I enjoy kitbashing all sorts of 00 MS at the moment.
Mixing kits from different universe is something I struggle with. I know that everyone is free to do whatever he wants and just have fun. But when I see parts very easy to recognize on a kit they don't belong I don't like it. For example....a federation suit using a zeon weapon....no thanks! But if the modeler change that weapons a lot so that you cannot understand it's a zeon rifle then I like it!

I tried using runners for my civilian astray dssd custom back then, used masking tape to put the parts together.

I painted a spare Hyaku-Shiki and i mixed and matched with spare Nadleeh Gundam parts, both High Grade

Definitely wash first before painting. Just dishwasher soap and rinse clean with water :)
