Born to English parents in Belgium and raised there, Will Still has spent most of his career in the country he grew up in - but he moved to Ligue 1 when he was appointed as Óscar García’s assistant at Stade de Reims in the summer of 2022. He faced a baptism of fire, however, when he was asked to stand in for García in the Reims dugout for the visit of the stars of Paris Saint-Germain in October of that year. Just five days after the game, at only 30 years old, Still became the youngest head coach in Europe’s top five leagues when he was made Reims caretaker manager following García’s departure.
Although Lionel Messi missed out for PSG due to injury, and both Neymar and Achraf Hakimi were left on the bench by PSG manager Christophe Galtier, Still faced an uphill task if he was to get a result against a team that had not lost or failed to score in a competitive match since March - a run of 22 matches. Against all odds, however, Reims kept a clean sheet against the French champions, to earn a hard-fought goalless draw.
In this exclusive masterclass, Still explains how and why he set Reims up to take the game to their opponents, including how they pressed PSG high up the pitch, with Arsenal’s on-loan forward Folarin Balogun playing a key role. He also talks about the “satisfaction” of frustrating a team as good as PSG, and drawing Sergio Ramos into getting sent off late in the first half.
Still goes on to explain why, even though Reims had just stopped Kylian Mbappé from scoring, there was still an element of frustration at the result. Despite a fully deserved draw against one of the best teams in the world, Still was left with a small, nagging feeling of regret.

Tickled me how he put an accent on his own teams player names but when it came to PSG, it was as British as they come. Very good manager, no disrespect to Reims but it won't be long before bigger clubs are taking a look at him. If PSG get rid of Galtier then I wouldn't be surprised if PSG went for Still
It's not an accent, it's how they are pronounced. And he grew up in Belgium, he won't forget his French to butcher his own players' names in English. On the other hand, none of the PSG players had a French name.
@@andrasszabo1570 you winding me up? His parents were both British and even though he was born in Belgium, he grew up with English speaking parents, that's why he sounds English and not Belgian. Are you saying that all the Reims players are French? Sorry to disappoint but from the line up there were different nationalities which didn't warrant him putting on a French accent. He literally had an accent for each one of his players, he even did it when he mentioned Van Bergen who is Dutch?! Is Mbappe not French?
@@CBP_87 He knows Dutch. He learned it by playing for Flemish football clubs. He's Spent Far more time speaking french and being in French-speaking countries than English ones. Like you said he lacks a noticeable foregin accent but he is Belgian. Most sites regard him as Belgian.
@@danko6712 I'm not saying he isn't Belgian. He was born and raised there. You're missing my point. He put on an accent when speaking his players name but didn't when speaking PSG players name. It reminded me of when Steve McLaren did at Twente and Barton at Marseille. It's no criticism of where or how he was brought up, its merely me saying it tickled me how he put an accent on when he announced his players names but not PSGs
@@andrasszabo1570 yeah not to pile on but he's saying like African and Italian names with a heavy french accent lol
If Will can’t get a Premier League job, he surely deserves one in the Championship. The fact he got where he is now and in the beginning didn’t even have a proper coach’s license definitely shows that he knows what he is doing.
Why would he choose a championship team over a top 10 ligue 1 team?
Too easy for a championship level , probably a mid table club in PL like West Ham, Leicester too for the Belgian connection
Would love West Ham's Will Still to be our next manager...he wants it too.

Will Still not make PSG lose the league
Fantastic explanation!
Welcome to West Ham
Where can I buy this tactic board?
Where is this beauty of a tacticboard from?
Will Still has to be contacted by West Ham United soon.
He managed to overload the midfield because PSG played with 3 defenders. If it was 2 center-backs, this would not be easy. I feel like 3 central defender formations against weaker league sides create an extra less used defender most of the time and cause lack of density in attack.
He said they played more as a 433 and that it was easier to press because of that

yes, against PSG, with Reims, who were some people's picks to get relegated at the start of the season. Reims dominated this game in every aspect, too. Unlucky to not win. Reims were, at the time of making this vid, the only team in the league not to concede a goal against PSG in a game.

@@Adambrown9316:30 "frustrating PSG"
How is this a 0-0 result at home a "masterclass? I know that you guys are desperate for an upcoming exciting manager but let's not just use our words loosely, it was a decent result at best considering the financial power PSG has compared to Stade de Reims but let's not forget that they were at home and that PSG has lost to weaker opponents. A 0-0 result at home is never a "masterclass"
It's about the way in which they did it. Sometimes a team can lose but leave a great impression;
A masterclass is what you call a lecture on a particular topic from an expert. It comes from the art world when 'masters' would take special classes for students. The word 'masterclass' has evolved and has now also been taken and used to describe something successful or exceptional by people like sports commentators and film critics.. "It was a masterclass in cinematography.." etc. When they say masterclass here they are not referring to the result of the game and the scoreline.. they are referring to an expert on a particular subject speaking about it and explaining it. It's just the name of the format.
Be a coach and try to get a draw against psg
What are you talking about? Nobody is saying the result was a masterclass. This video is the masterclass.
@@sercangok523 it was nothing impressive about the “way” they did it because people can play horrible football and still get a result at home to PSG. A masterclass is about pulling a result that wasn’t expected, not the way you played.
Masterclass for a draw?? Rightttttt
